It’s happy to see Zach Frazier Doing well I played against him in high school my freshman year as he was a senior at Fairmont Senior High School dude is a beast!!!
@@ShquonHodge0627 definitely I know 2 guys that I played against that are now in the NFL Dante stills and Zach Frazier there’s more that’s in D1 colleges right now but it sure is good to see some home grown wv players have the spotlight!!!
DK i noticed on one instance Herbig rushed from the inside and got home, its time to get him on the field as much as possible! He seems to be a ball magnet, great bonus show sir! 😎
I was there, and all that mattered to me was the first two drives. I was seated in the second row at the 40yd line and made sure the O Line knew we saw them. I loved the vibes from the sideline and took big notice of Corey Trice’s effort.
So happy to see some success from both sides of the ball. There was certainly concern building. There is hope where there was none. It's time to prove me wrong. Go Steelers!
It feels so good ,to see them move the ball the way they did. I am so happy. This will get me through the the next two weeks. The runs, over the middle, the passing, the sacks, blocking, the kicks, you name it. I say this, The team is getting it together ! It feels good. Thank you DK for this special, Your awesome
So DK, another season watching Herbig play spot duty? Not to hate on Highsmith, but man Herbig is tough to keep on the bench playing that way... Thoughts?
@@Roli-l8mExactly what I came here to say. I watch for his run defense now all the time, and although he’s not big enough to be a Watt or highsmith against the run, he does participate. I used to hate watching Bud Dupree just run right past the running play over and over.
"He's not just doing the Myles Garrett thing where you get in the remote vicinity of the QB, about close enough that you wouldn't have to pay roaming minutes - as such you're declared by morons to be the best defensive player in the league." ^This comment made my Sunday morning. Great stuff as always DK!
Considering that we have not even seen our 3 best Defensive players (all of them Pro bowl dudes) I think this D is gonna be REALLY SCARY! It will take some time for the O line to gel and the Offense to get their stuff together, but we might need 14 points to win most games this season, PS a Cory Trice update would be appreciated
The offense has gotten cleaner on the little things each week. It's good to see the progress happen in real time. Hopefully that carries over to the regular season this time. Excited to see what happens in Atlanta.
GM DK , thanks for the OT work. I think the Steelers did what they should do against another team's back ups, and I don't mean that negatively. We want to see them do what they should be doing, it shows progress. I hope Russ makes me look stupid for some comments I made after the Buffalo game. IMO compared to last season we got better at some very important positions, especially the QB room ( except Mason of course) I guess the thing with Herbig , and more snaps aside from the obvious the 2 guys ahead of him are really, really good, one on an all time great pace is maybe stamina?? ,and I'm guessing here maybe his size holds him back from getting a larger volume of snaps. You can't help but want to see more , but who do you sit. The thing with the offense is all summer I've heard they did well vs our defense , if they can move the ball vs what I feel should be a top 5 defense this year then look out! Here We Go Steelers!!!
75% Watt, 75% High Smith & 25% + 25% Spamalot Herbig on each side would keep everyone fresh for splash plays. Steelers defense could be The Kings Of Chaos this season
How about on the Cordarrelle Patterson TD, the pre-snap motion of Van Jefferson showing 1. he was going against man coverage, and 2. He could pull his man outta the running zone. This pre-snap motion had to have had some influence on the defense suspecting pass
Out of the entire draft class, Herbig was the one that truly impressed me, there was something special about him evident in his film. If he was 3” taller and 30 pounds heavier it’s possible he would exceed TJ’s amazing performance. Despite his splash plays, one of the most impressive things I saw in this Detroit game was Herbig being double teamed! Literally 3x his body weight needed to protect the QB from him!
Nick Herbig is 6'2" and 240 pounds. Alex Highsmith is 6'4" and 242 pounds. Nick has much shorter arms than Alex but are otherwise about the same size. Nick is faster and more explosive. I would love to see Herbig getting 50-60 percent of the snaps by backing up both TJ and Alex. With Queen and Wilson having coverage skills I could see some 5 linebacker defensive formations with only Minkah at safety. TJ, Highsmith, Nick Herbig, Queen, and Payton Wilson all on the field together would wreak havoc on the opposition.
Churning out Chocolate Bars Like at Hershey !! I Love it !! Kid is Truly Truly Unique n if He Stays healthy n is used .. is Going to become an Issue for Offensives !! 😎
Preseason report card - the only failing grade is need for a booth review assistant. Tomlin may be the best coach in the NFL...he is the worst at coach's challenges.
*Yes Yes and Yes. They will run some 5 LB sets but will also feature a 2-4-5 package with Watt, Highsmith, and Herbig on the field at same time with Queen and Wilson as the ILB's. The question is will Trice play outside CB in this Nickel package, kicking CB Jackson inside to the Slot or will they go with the 3 Safety stuff*
Those 3 OLB sets are great against the ratbirds and clowns who just love to pound the ball up the middle so much. Also to be able to move TJ around like a chess piece on the battle field when he is constantly getting double and triple teamed. I cant wait to see it.
J1Q: DK can we talk about that starting Defensive front of ours on Saturday? No TJ. No Highsmith. No Cam, but holy cow Keeanu Benton tossing his man out of the state of Michigan, Ogunjobi making some noise, Mon Adams continuing to run stuff like a beast. Not to mention Nick Herbig being absolutely everywhere. Maybe I'm being overly enthusiastic, but I'm taking a lot of positives away from this game.
I have always been against the type of money they gave to Highsmith. Yes, the kid is good, he has shown to be a good/slight above Dupree...but NOOO he is not a 65 Million dollars OLB, No! He had TJ Watt on the other side, proof enough is not worth 68 Million. But thats Dumblin, all he values/overvalues is Defense
Let's not waste Herbig's best young years. Hope MT has the intention of a regular rotation of OLBs, keeping everyone fresh and maximizing OLB production. We could see 6 OLB sacks per game with a 3-man rotation. Let's go!!!
I thought the Steelers looked particularly well on the first drive! I understand why Coach Tomlin pulled Russell out after that. They looked good! But it wasn’t against the starters. There’s a reason they paid Alex Highsmith, but Nick Herbig is making a statement!
There is an embarrassment of riches at the linebacker position this season (barring injury). I’d probably try and force them into the dime If I was playing against them - like every play.
How do get tht justin fields out played Wilson in camp and in games facts !! And give me your bull st about the bad snaps by both centers facts!!! We would win more games with fields facts!!!
I thought last season, Highsmith took a small step backward compared to the year before when he had a career high 14.5 sacks. I think if Herbig had all his snaps him and TJ both could have 20 sacks!
They look like the 4th best team in the AFC North. There is nothing about this team that makes me consider them a legit AFC contender. The bar is low. Until there is a change in football philosophy, beginning with Art II's relinquishing total control of his archaic football practice, and Tomlin is no longer HC, this team will continue to flounder in mediocrity because that standard has already been set.
*Lmao. The Steelers have been in "Rebuild Mode" and yet still made the playoffs 3 out of those 4 seasons. All other Franchises struggle to win 6 games and consistently draft in the Top10 when in "Rebuild Mode"* *And the reason for this is yes, that Steeler tradition of winning with the Front Office, Rooney, GM Khan, Andy Weidle, and Mike Tomlin. This Pittsburgh dudes all work together and this team has been winning games and making the tournament despite the worst Offensive Scheme under OC Canada and a legend QB retiring. Thru these years the team has stockpiled the talent and is now ready to be a true AFC contender. BET!!*
Statistically we were pummeled, not sure what the hype is about. Out gained by 146 yards gave up 178 yards rushing only had 11 first downs to 28, and we are creating hype about optimism??
