In an interview between Vlad and DL Hughley, they discussed the second season of Def Comedy Jam, a popular comedy show. The question, D.L., isn’t really “are you mad?”, it’s “was that appropriate?”. And the answer should be no, and you should be checking your colleague, friend, whatever for his inappropriateness. You don’t have to be mad at something for it to be wrong. I don’t care how many Black women Carlos and Gary marry and divorce. It is not appropriate for them to say the n-word or categorize anyone as such or presume to know what it feels like to be treated as what society has treated such.

I’ll just say that his response was disappointing. I can’t remember ever, ever seeing a black man hired to work on a Latinx construction crew…but we act like that’s normal. This dude allegedly can’t get a job on Def Comedy Jam and all of a sudden it’s ok to call us n-s. I’m not ok with that. And this dude being ok with it seems…smh?

There are certain words I don't condone and won't say, however I don't believe in banning words. However, if society chooses to ban a word it should be banned from ANYONE using it. Incorrectly changing the spelling of a word phonetically based on slang or a cultural way of speaking does NOT change it's meaning. I do suggest studying the history of the word and it's Latin origins which do not have hate in their original intentions.

I am so sick of the N word being used by anyone of any race including my brothers. Stop thinking of yourself as that term. We’re just putting ourselves down. Even the way that DL used that word was that he was less than someone who wasn’t a N word. He expected to be put down. He just accepted it as a part of life.

My grandmother told me, i know your one of us. but when they say it they think they have a pass because you say it. im referring to friends who are not black. i notice eveyone else says it because they are around you and think they have a pass to say it. but they say it to ridicule. so dont say it at all. As a comedian professionally for 23 years, and a white man from a black hood in LA, I can say Vlad needs to sit down with more white comedians. I don’t see any on his channel, and I can tell many stories about racial hypocrisy and joke stealing in comedy. I’d want to talk boxing too. Love the channel

It amazes me how the most ethnic discriminated people on earth, Afro Americans, have the audacity to perpetrate discrimination on anyone. I also never understood how everyone allowed 1 group of people to classify and label who is who and what is what. I recently heard Floyd Mayweather correct some who called him Afro American. He said I'm American. I bet you don't call yourself Irish American. I was very true. That one group has literally made the word Black a forbidden word and not to associate yourself with it. Puerto Ricans are Black people, Puerto Rican is about their culture. I even had a guy from Africa say he wasn't Black. He said that he was African. If we're going to allow Black to be used then it has to be synonmous with people of color. I also know that Puerto Ricans are some of the biggest ones to distant themselves from the word Black.

You don’t seem to understand the concept of white supremacy. Black people never told people from Puerto Rico that they ain’t Black, until they tried to distance themselves to benefit from economic and political opportunities more accessible to people not seen as Black. Same with other ethnic groups or nationalities.

@@davruck1 I understand White supremacy very well. I also know that it's an illusion. Regardless of how and what Puerto Ricans did as far as distancing themselves from the word Black. Black people were just as wrong in their reponse. I remember when Vanessa Williams won Miss America. It was Black people, per se that went on the rant that she wasn't really Black or that the organization might as well had picked a White woman. There a reason why Eartha Kitt took the stance that she took.
