Amazing job on all of this. I love your site. I have been playing most of the versions of this game since the old red books and I rarely adopt other's work (I would probably benefit more from doing so admittedly) but I am going to lean heavily into what you have done here. Really well done! Thanks for sharing.
The book doesnt go into much detail for the factions which is ok as it allows you to pick and choose which factions will feature prominently in your game. I used the red wizards a lot and let the politics and princes stay in the background. My group is newer to dnd so they arent exactly ready to RP the more intricate stories. They just wanted to dino race, fight in the arena and shop in the grand souk. I made my own faction of tabaxi only thieves and threw in some mini game skill challenges for a couple heists and pickpocketing. I had zombies and skeletons attack malars throat twice while they were in port but other than that, there wasnt much storyline in PN. Rumors, conjecture and fun in port. Story, danger and intrigue in the jungles and epic battles, traps and drama in omu/Tot9G
You know I wasn't really expecting to do a lot in Port Nyanzaru, but after placing down the factions and stuff... well... crazy stuff happened! After returning to Port doing the clockwise journey of locations, they spent 6 episodes of upgrading, intrigue and battles in Port Nyan! And it was pretty crazy! Ch36-41 of our Tomb of Annihilation Play Through on my channel. But anyhoos. Fun!
The dye works would make a good front for the zentarim, y'tepka society or even yuan-tai. Giant bats of dye in an industrial section just reminds me industrial lairs of the joker in batman. Underground organization operations out of of a hub of industry
Oh yeah. And there's mention of the Zhents running the mines... so minerals, slavery, mines... could be big part of it. Course jungle plantations for dye as well. So unlimited & crazy cool for sure!
Love the video, and the idea of giving the factions different districts to "control"! Also, might steal some of the Merchant prince house locations if that's ok! :D Great work!
Yes its on my website, a pdf of it... somewhere! Got to subscribe, sift through all my new Christian RPG stuff.. .and like a treasure hunt, find where I hid it!.... not hid... put in back somewhere! Good luck!
hey! so i just stumbled upon all of your work... and im running TOA as my first ever campaign as a DM... thanks for your videos! do you have your notes anymore? would love all of that to study myself lol
I'm doing hardcore Christian ranty stuff now! :) But I have left all my D&D stuff on my website... you just have to scour through the links! It should be free.
I really love your map and the locations you've added. It makes a whole lot of sense and I'm struggling to keep all factions/locations straight right now as my party navigates the Port. Could you possibly share your version of this map for download?
@@StorytellingRon Hi, I just looked on your website and I can't find it, could you possibly provide a link? 🙏 my players are exploring Nyanzaru and all of this is so helpful, thank you!
Thank you so much for making this video. I am currently running ToA campaign and my party just arrive at Port Nyanzaru! This inspire me so much, Thank you!
