I don't know if I'm alone with this: While I think DmC is a bad Devil May Cry game, it isn't a bad game at all. I'd love to see a sequel to this / a game like this, too, just not in the universe of DMC if that makes sense.
wait people hate this game I actually think this game is really good and I love it it's my first devil may cry game in my ps3 then after finishing DMC I downloaded devil may cry 4 and was a bit confused at first
Although I prefer Dante's classic design, I prefer this debut trailer's design against the one he has in DmC. The face seems a bit more right than the modeled after-voice actor one, and he looks more like a beaten-teenager. I wonder what story this would've produced here. I also like his hair style here rather than the shaved sides.
Yeah the dante in the game is kinda just a dick for the sake of trying to be cool, this dante seems flawed and traumatized yet still has that cocky care free attitude with how he jumped off that roof, and casually laying on a gargoyle, a more quiet type tho which really isn't bad and makes sense given his past, plus the deep voice really gave me the feeling of like "oh shit" and i'd love to see his sense of humor and style, sadly we never got that
lol funny how most people bitch about the look of dante in this trailer and made the devs change him, and now people bitch again about them liking this dante and not the one the ended up in the game due to people complaining.
James Mardröm ya i just hope they can make a second game. the games was solid and had a great art style. i feel that its combat even rivals some of platimun's combat in byanetta etc.
***** ya so sad to see a great dev go to waste. so stupid that fans fuck up their own favorite franchises most of the time by complaining about change.
There is such a disconnect between this trailer and what Ninja Theory gave us. The characters are completely different. This Dante is more quiet, unstable, but has somewhat of a charming sense of rebellion to him. The other Dante just seemed mean spirited (other being the one in the reboot). You can even hear it in the music as this music has a large sense of punk rock to it, while the other was more focused around dubstep. I don't mind dubstep, but I would have preferred to see how they would have taken this. I would not have minded seeing this character in another game, or even as Dante's son or something.
I suppose they wanted to try to quell the backlash...and they failed miserable lol. Seeing as how Itsuno has said he wants to make a DMC 5 on the PS4 and that Capcom is going to be cutting down severely on outsourcing all signs point to Capcom having abandoned DmC we'll never find out what Ninja Theory's original vision was. As much as I hated the look of this I will say it looks better than the final product looks...of coarse playing DmC's demo is as far as I'm going with DmC so I don't know for sure.
That doesn't surprise me. It'd be cool if Hideaki Kamiya were to get a crack at the franchise again someday. But Itsuno has done a lot to make the franchise his own...and Capcom REALLY needs the money right now lol
great idea... i think this dante quite cool... just make a new game with this character, make some dark open world like batman arkham city, make the combat like devil may cry, make some heavy but charming story about the identuty of the main character, the scientist that research the character and make some new enemy background, not devil like in dmc but some serious unknwon psychopatic enemy... it would be great... just leave the dmc alone, bring back the old dante in dmc 5 or something like that, and make this character a brand new game... that would be kickin' sooo many ass... and rack up money as well... just my oppinion...
Zack Brangen I am, we proved all those stupid bitches wrong after they were attacking us from having a problem with this game and now were getting DMCV a true sequel. it feels good too
While I do think DmC is a decent game overall. I can't help but feel a sense of satisfaction after the way the developers, and gaming journalists tried to demonize absolutely anyone who had criticisms....That and I've been waiting 10 fucking years for this game.
Honestly, with a few tweaks, this could've fit in the actual story of Devil May Cry. Him being made into a weapon that was made to imitate abd go toe-to-toe with Dante rather than making him the actual Dante would've been badass. And making the Mundus of this game a lieutenant of the demon lord's army would've made way more sense.
I feel like this game wasn’t originally gonna be a reboot of the story, but it was actually gonna take place before DMC 3 ever happen. Like we were gonna see what happened before DMC 3, idk i just got that feeling from this trailer. Or might be way off.
@@justjabari6430 DmC: Devil May Cry taking place before both DMC3 Manga and DMC3 was just a rumor which was later debunked by Capcom by confirming that DmC: Devil May Cry was a reboot.
Damn, imagine if they pulled that off, making this equally badass gritty anti-dante, and we play through the whole first game thinking its some weird reboot, then the sequel comes out and we find out its a shared universe and we get to see this anti-dante fight real dmc3 dante, could've been awesome ngl, maybe even rival the rivalry they had with vergil at the very least match it, or maybe not dmc3 dante but an older dmc6 dante, where he's outta his prime and he's gotta fight this brain washed kid whose in his prime and trained to kill dante his whole life
***** I personally think this version of Dante had the potential to blow what ended up being the new Dante right out if the water. The Dante in this trailer was badass and had a voice that fit very well in my opinion.
This Dante fits the story line. Not some trash talking hipster. He was tortured by demons as a child, and was forced to kill as revealed in the game. This would obviously match the dark aura this Dante is given, and would make even more sense as to why he seems emotionally detatched and doesn't care about humanity. This dark alternative with a sinister devil trigger would have seriously been dope. New voice acting with a darker voice like this and more cold and hostile lines instead of "Fuck You"
Novice Otaku23 i totally agree, i am a fan of the older games BUT if the new DMC had this dante instead of the lame one we got, it would have been awesome
+Rowan Buchanan people were pissed because the character was a poorly written piece of shit. that excuse is what people use constantly without looking at the other faults, like the mediocre gameplay
+siegeh25 the out cry brought on by this trailer, where you saw basically nothing but how he looks and fights, is why they rewrote the character to try and make him seem more like old Dante. If the fans would have stfu then we might have gotten an amazing new character and a great story.
Looking at DmC: Devil May Cry now, I honestly would not have minded this sort of Alternate Universe. This seems WAY MORE INTERESTING than the final product that turned out to be nothing more than a Devil May Cry 3 Reboot. This trailer honestly has alot more personality than the entire reboot.
@@amvpromaker no blame the fans oh no dante doesn't smoke hes to emo change it thats why we got what we did not capcom they liked the new look and story the fans flip at the e3 trailer thatswhy
Its too bad we didn't get this dante. When I first saw this, I was utterly shocked by what I was seeing, and I didn't even know if this was considered a good thing or bad thing. I love devil may cry, and have played 1-4 (2 shall not be mentioned) but honestly I would have LOVED to see this Dante. Rebellious, silent, brutal, and just overall ruthless. It made me think Dante had succumbed to incredible torture. He was broken, alone, and just a nobody living out, surviving while he can. I would found it even MORE interesting if this was Dante's son, but that's not going to happen. Lol. DMC 5, hurry up baby
Honestly even though I’m a big fan of the series I loved this game. If they just said it was a multiverse thing or even gave another name to it, that would get more praise than hate imo. It is a decent game, let’s be honest.
No it ain’t, they butchered his character and made Vergil a Reddit mod (minus the 300Lbs part) It would need to be a separate thing entirely, different name different characters with different upbringings than being half angel half demon because that’s not far enough of being half human half demon
The final is so diffrent from this trailer. What if they kept this trailer and went with the an idea like this was just some dude who was a experiment of mixing Dante's blood with a human to try and make a son of sparda or something so he's just thinks he's Dante.
I go back to this trailer and say, man...why wasn't Dante like this in the new one?? I get it, they wanted to appreal to fans a little but, but their original concept for Dante seems way more interesting, I know a lot of people complained that this one was too emo, but it would have been interesting to see this more quiet, tortured, yet still fun-loving version of Dante.
Complaints like, Dante doesn't look like that, and Dante doesn't smoke, is the reason why we lost this concept of Dante. The current Dante is fine, but I feel this one looks more like he was tortured by demons.
GamerNinjaX Because of fanboys not understanding the concept of a reboot. I would've loved to have seen this kind of take on the whole thing, even if the story did end up being a bit contrived. I'm sure the gameplay would've stayed solid, and that's the most important thing about these kind of games.
even this Dante looks different than one in DmC devil may cry. And also overall feel of this game felt going with mental hospital thing than evil corporations.
The name is one thing, being able to hear it without the trailer's sound effects is another. It may well be the full version in the trailer and no where else. It bugs me to no end that we'll never hear it outside of this trailer. Everyone online is all like "Ninja Theory stated that it was done by the in-house audio team, blah blah blah"... yeah, we can figure that. But that still don't give us a clear version of the song.
Kap Bambino - "I Never Exist" It's an unreleased track so you won't be able to find a studio version of the song. I'm sure there is a live version on RU-vid somewhere.
Sil3ntKn1ght I have the Kap Bambino song, and one little part sounds a little like it, but I don't know, they sound similar, but not the same. Capcom confirmed that it was done by their in-house stuido--not licensed out as well.
I had been thinking about what this game could've been had Ninja Theory been able to follow through with their original vision despite the mountains of backlash and death threats they got over it (Which I think was incredibly dumb given the fact it happened before we found out this was a reboot and not a sequel), and I think not only would've it been better, but it could also fit within the main timeline. One of the concepts for DMC4 was the idea that Nero was supposed to be a failed clone of Vergil, not his son like we find out later in DMC5, or DMC4 if you payed really close attention. What if DmC took this concept and ran it with this game? The idea that this "Dante" isn't the real Dante, but a secret government experiment that's trying to clone Dante. We see in this trailer that "Dante" is going through some form of psychological torment. The guy in the asylum on the intercom keeps asking him "What is your name?", even though he probably does know, it's more like a brainwashing thing. He doesn't call Dante "Patient", which is what you would normally hear in an asylum, but "Subject", like he less a person and more a thing, Subject 64432B being his exact designation. So how would they clone Dante? Through his hair. I'd assume that Dante visits a barber every now and then, and this could play into why Subject 64432B's hair is black instead of fully white. Silver hair in Japanese Mythology is a sign of demonic possession, which is why in a lot of animes and video games, specifically those developed by Japan, a lot of characters, usually villains, have silver hair. Sephiroth, Ultemecia, and Kuja from FF7, 8, and 9 respectively all have silver hair and deal with some form of possession and/or influence. It's not a stylistic choice, it's a symbol of demonic or evil influence. So why would "Dante's" hair be black instead of white? Well this is going to sound a tad bit ridiculous, but probably because whenever the real Dante has a haircut, the hair that's cut turns to black, albeit slowly, from being cut off from his demonic energy, quite literally in this case. An agent from this government agency takes a snip of Dante's cut hair and uses it to create various clones of Dante, most of which end up failing and dying, up until we play the game as Subject 64432B. So over the course of the game, "Dante's" hair starts off completely black, but the stronger he gets, the whiter his hair turns. Now why would they clone Dante? Well, if we are going by the tropes of this series, this government organization is run by demons, those who want to kill Dante, but after obtaining some useful information and research from the remnants of the Order of the Sword, they decide to fight fire with fire. In other words, they cloned Dante so they could kill him instead of fighting him directly like before. They send out Subjects all across limbo to fight and kill other demons, training them, conditioning them into thinking they're Dante, and when they perfect the cloning, conditioning, and training of a subject, they send it to kill the real Dante.
Well , They Call That reboot i'ts refu#@ed up the director of DMC1 & 4 Want to make DMC5 but crapcom Refused That i've been playing the game since 2001 and now i hate this game
@@clashingkings8704 going off of the trailer alone it does when you think of it: going off of the main dmc franchise demons are stronger when they gain human blood. So demons could assume a half blood would be stronger then a normal demon. Thus they kidnap a young human, break them down, load them up with demon blood and create their "first" Successful half demon BUT it ends up being stronger then expected and escapes their control. This would've resulted in a dante plagued by Post traumatic stress because of their tortured youth under the demons yet also one having a strong desire to beat said demons and break away the control they have on humanity. Thus DMC: Devil May Cry would've featured Dante possibly running into kat who helps him fight back the demon threat. Yet by the end of the game there could've been one other experimental half blood who survived, This other half blood being *Vergil* except he wants to rule both realms. (AKA: DmC: Devil May Cry 2 sequel baiting)
Always bothers me when devs compromise something that could turn out really special if only they had the chance to fully realise it. This could have seriously been a cool new direction, not to replace to old, but just something neat and new. Instead we got a sloppy, albeit fun attempt to take this Dante and smash him together with the original. Not... entirely functional, that was.
@@MichaelCHamel Well, golly gee, it's almost like Capcom was needlessly rebooting a series that was still going strong and didn't need a reboot. I can't imagine why the fanbase would be pissy when our favorite game series was under threat of being completely replaced with something else.
This trailer is perfect example that fans don't know what they want. The devs should have stuck with the original concept instead of being crowd pleasers. This will be the DMC we'll never know and that thought bothers me a whole bunch. This seemed to have a a character that fit into the ambient and enemies of interesting stature as well as a compelling trailer. Oh well...🙍
Yeah me too, this is SO much cooler then the one we got, it bothers the shit outta me, like i just wish they didn't bend their knee to fans, they really should've stood loud and proud and made their mark on the series, i bet if they stuck to this we would've gotten a DmC2 and even if we didn't we would've still got dmc 5 so would've been a win, win, now its one win, and multiple losses
@@fobo3361 Do you think there is a chance NT could "re-introduce" this type of story/tone in a DmC 2? Itsuno said he really wanted to make DmC Devil May Cry 2 instead of 5, but NT was already owned by Microsoft. So, i think a DmC 2 is possible, but it'll take a little while.
@@eddiewolf2099 yeah, but they'd have to get reeeal dark with it, dante losing his memories getting tortured, etc, and change up every character which i doubt anyone would mind, do i think they will if they ever make a DmC2, honestly i doubt it, since developers rarely bring things in directions that fans want, but hey i dont doubt it
@@eddiewolf2099 hehe, everytime I see new comments here wishing about new DmC it makes me a bit more hopeful too! Tho I wish they didn't continue story of DmC and just tried to actually do whatever was in this trailer. But I thinks it's even more unlikely than DmC 2 😞. And I know most of dmc series fans agreeed on that already, but reboot just didn't deserved all this shit in the times and it's really enjoyable game by itself standing alone from original dmc. That was just a really dark times back then and I'm happy community is chill now
Honestly after seeing how different the finished game is I gotta say I think I would have liked to see this version more and I liked the reboot I mean it’s not as good as the originals but I think it was still really fun
Yeah the edginess is pretty extreme but this trailer’s depiction of reboot Dante doesn’t act at all like an emo kid like everyone complained. In fact he seems more interesting in this trailer than in the final game. He’s got spunk, he’s got confidence, he’s got energy, and the cinematics in this trailer are way more appealing than most of the cutscenes in the final game.
I didn't pay attention to the drama surrounding the reboot, but I've seen it played and it honestly seems like a cool game. I just wish they had ignored fan criticism (also not antagonized the fanbase) and given us this Dante. Because as much as I like New!Re!Dante, like analyzing him and examining him as a character, I think this character would have been even more fun.
I agree. But NT has their hands tied since this isn't their product, it's Capcom's. And they're the ones I blame. I wish there's a sequel to this honestly and with NT and Itsuno taking all the reins.
@@theatheistbear3117 No, that is objectively not possible because NT his currentely enslaved by Microsoft exclusvity. Give it up, it's healthier for you all. Rather than sniffing hopium about a low standard game that needed to die, you should actually take interest in better games.
@@ProsecutorValentine Microsoft and Capcom have a good relationship and the former doesn’t make their games XBOX exclusive. It is possible if both parties agree. This isn’t as much hopium as just pointing to it being possible. We got bloody franchises like Marvel vs Capcom, and Kingdom Hearts. Stranger things have happened. I prefer DMC 3 by a healthy margin for it’s depth, and yet with the lessons they learned from the original DmC and the later DE, this could result in a spectacular sequel that takes all the great things present in the DE and improves upon them. More weapons, more combo potential, tighter mechanics, more varied enemies, a better style and mission ranking system, better plot and characters work, etc.
fans hate this game, but they forgot they're the one who's making death threats over this forcing them to completely changing the final product of the game
This trailer really does gave the the impression that this is an experiment to make a normal person become Dante, basically brainwashing them by torture and shock. Much like MGSV, which would be cool.
there's a lot of the MGSV plot that could've worked with this DmC; like that torture scene to be staged in order to brainwash the subject to believe he's a "Dante" and make him think he has to seek his weapons or some power-related goal, maybe add some twist midway that he's not Dante but a mix between a human, demon and angel, and the continue use of demonic and angelic weapons is corroding him mentally so we can connect somehow with him (ala V), with the later part of the game being him trying to bring down the organization that created him, then finally add the ultimate goal for him to discover who's in reality, maybe leaving the final open to interpretation and if the response was good with this "Dante" then a sequel to explore who he was before becoming "him"
If I remember back I the day when this trailer was released a lot of people didn't like it and complained about it online (I think some were saying that this version of Dante looked a lot like the director of the studio and that he had put himself into the game). Due to these complaints the company changed the game and the designs so that people would be happy. When the new trailer came out in 2013? People once again complained about how the game looked etc and some wished that the original trailer was the game that we got instead. Mental. I myself like this trailer. It's dark, gritty and the monsters involved look like fun. Also this music. I love this music and it's a shame we never got a full version.
This trailer, this vibe, this music, this visual, this Dante is so original and so cool. I really hope that such a gloomy concept of dirty green London will be applied to the reboot sequel or to a new game in a new IP. Any interference by fans in the original project is always bad. It was necessary to wait for the release of this game and then criticize. That in 2010 I loved this trailer and supported the original concept of Ninja Theory as now... :(
Well, glad we gatekeeped your kind and all you can do was inhale copium about it now. Nor did we just protect a IP, but also multiple artpiece of history were kept relevant away from your tainted low standardism and mediocracity. This was a 10 years long fight worth 'til the end.
I cant get over this Dante character, the one that was made into the final release wasn't good at all, but this one ill never be able to get over. When i grow up i wanna use this character in one of my games. EDIT (4 Years Later): I don't think the redesign they went with was THAT bad, but I much rather prefer this Dante. He seems more unstable, like he's been scarred from some sort of torture or brainwash (and based off the very little plot we are given in this trailer, I can imagine that most likely would've been the case).
The dante in this trailer looks pretty good, even the weapons concept are, but then when i played the game, everything was different, don't know why they changed it completly, would have been a really badass dante if he would look like this one :/
***** yea maybe cus he was able to kill every one from the start but didn't want to do it he let things get out of hand so he can join in the fight later and save the world and stuff so looks badass
I had a crazy idea that I wish ninja theory or Capcom implemented. This Dante was actually some random unlucky kid that was kidnapped, brainwashed, trained and conditioned to become a devil hunter capable of fighting off demons. We all saw what Lady was capable of when her enemy file explicitly stated "She has little training and even less power" yet she was capable of feats that would make an olympic level athlete gasp. On top of that we've seen human organizations capable of doing pretty terrible things, plus Dante is hinted at being well known in the criminal and occult underworld. So I thought this would make for an interesting storyline.
I'll agree with the others, this atmosphere would have been sooooo much more awesome. While I understand that it's not the Dante we all know and love, it's still Dante regardless. Don't get me wrong, I love the game but my mind was fixated on this sick, dark, and awesomely twisted universe the trailer portrayed. It's just a different take on the Devil May Cry series. Change of perspectives isn't always a bad thing.
Well thank you for sharing your opinion, I liked all versions of Dante honestly. In DmC 5 his personality could have been tweaked a little more, given him more depth and made him more charismatic but that slight problem did not take away from the game experience itself. It was distorted and a let down to my expectations but it was in no way ruined. Now these previews, these previews of the earlier developments would have been spot on. Dark and twisted, an interesting take on the famed devil hunter. I can buy into it because he was like this silent, brooding badass and he would then later on grow up into the cool white haired, laidback and stylish Dante we all know and love. But because of so many fan disapprovals and death threats, NinjaTheory and Co. came up with what is in stores today. It's not a bad game, could be better but it's not terrible. If people would have had an open mind, this could've been one of the best installments of the series. Not so good to overshadow its predecessors but just enough to catch everyone's attention in a positive way.
Exactly. Those so-called fanboys ruined everything. A true fan would be like, "Oh wow, they're making a new Devil May Cry installment? It's been a while, can't wait to see what they come up with!" Nope, they bitched about his hair. Really guys? It turned white in the end.
It's been speculated that the backlash from this trailer actually forced them to do a good bit of redesign of the game, both in Donte's design and in the plot. In fact, a lot of people think that originally DmC was going to be a psychological thriller, with Donte not actually fighting demons, but instead his inner demons and whatnot. Either way, it's a pretty dumb concept for a reboot, so...
Honestly looking back at this, I really wished they had used this version of DmC. It was darker, more edgy, and it showed a side of Dante that I would have actually loved to see. Not complaining about the final product, but this would've been pretty badass.
Let be honest the "...My name is Dante" Is the best deliver on that line then most trailers I seen, so much emotion and that added smirk was a cherry on top.
long years ago, pretty sure im hype this will be epic when coming, but yeah we know that he use dante's name and got complaining everywhere. i just hope in future this version will come.
I won't mind if this version will come with a different franchise name. And that could easily compete against both DMC series and Nier: Automata. I want to mention Bayonetta but God damn, both DMC5 and Nier: Automata sold over 4 million copies worldwide while Bayonetta games were sold like nothing compared to those two.
I would pay a lot of cash to play THIS version of DmC and not that we got. This Dante seems WAY different from the Dante we got in the actual game. Here in the trailer, he is more Stoic and silent. Man, fans, why do you fuck everything up all the time so that directors need to change their original vision to please you all.
I like how fans hate El Donte, the character they created themself.I hope,if original story will end, they will ressurect this idea of mental unstable Dante, who didn't even try to be like original Dante.Cause, you know,THIS IS A F*CKING REBOOT!He's not suppose to be like OG Dante.
The fans fucking destroy everything. It's not just the Reboot. Always being too inpatient to see the final version of a director. Instead, Ninja Theory changed Dante's original concept and made it look and sound like the original Dante. It's so classic... Fans are sometimes so short - sided… Never able to be open-minded. I sometimes just hate people for those exact reasons. @@Den-z8z
we got pretty much a different personality of this Dante on PlayStation All Stars, sooooo that's pretty much what he would became in the original DmC idea.
@@edwaaard46you got it backwards. Ninja Theory initially wanted his design closer to the original with their own twist. It was Capcom who forced them to go further and further from source material. What they did do was amazing, but Capcoms interference caused them to quit and sign on with Microsoft. Itsuno also threatened to quit Capcom because of it. It's the only reason we have DMC5 and not DmC2.
This version looks and feels so different - the combat scene had more weight to it and he seems more introverted, if still playful. Would be interesting to go deeper into this subject
Aye, it shows with how you project yourself unto them, while your mind is high on copium. The sheepest features of all, your mediocracy, your low standardism; all glassed by the Resistance of the video game industry. @@ProsecutorValentine I love how you say copium but you comment under everyone saying this isn't a bad trailer in retrospect because you can't have anyone liking this, the irony riddled under your pseudo superiority/intellect is ample showing your true lack of critical understanding that it's just comical to witness. Your over usage of the word copium let's everyone know you're chronically on the internet as well, so sad.
If they had this sort of scene, where he's being interrogated by officials and chained like this, in the game, it'd be kind of interesting. Like, what IF this new Dante got captured, and Kat rescues him using her sort of spray can magic. That could be a whole gameplay mechanic where you would play as Kat and get to bust out Dante, and then the two of them would fight their way through the mess they're in. It'd be neat, considering a lot of the well-praised games right now, like Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us, have sections where you play as the female lead for a good period of time. It would form a tighter bond between the two of them, which was lacking in the game that we got. Because Dante doesn't start giving two shits about humanity until he forms a relationship with Kat. That's fine, but their characters weren't very strong and the way they were written didn't leave enough room for that to be developed. All we get a simple exposition of their "tortured pasts" but they don't really interact with each other very much during the game except for a few times. It's a shame because I think that this game could've been top notch if they got the characters right. But... * sigh * I WILL say the one cool thing that happens with Dante in the new game is that his hair starts going back to white as the you get closer to the end of the game. It's kind of a nice touch. If they backed up that visual representation with better character writing, it would've been really incredible.
I really like this trailer. this is what the new DMC game should have been. when this trailer came out the game was originally a prequel to Devil May Cry 3. it was going to be set during the 70s and 80s with a brash, very reckless, inexperienced Dante. I thought that would have been awesome. I actually didn't mind the new look of Dante.
+TheAstoundingGamer I know right. I'll admit when I first saw Dante's new look I was a little put off by it but then after seeing an interview with the Ninja Theory director in which he stated that this was a prequel to The First taking place in the 70s and 80s I thought it was a cool idea. but because they were such a huge backlash Capcom just decided to change it to a reboot in hopes that it would piss people off less. so in basic terms they shot themselves in the foot.
Do people in the comments not get that when you reboot something usually the original thing goes away? Fans hated this because if it succeeded it would have replaced DMC, and they didn’t want it replaced.
This is honestly still a hell of a trailer. It shows off a game that looks dark underneath a surface of violent fun, with a protagonist that gleefully fights while having an introspective side. Maybe I’m reaching by extrapolating anything from a two minute trailer, but watching it makes me really wish I could play THIS version of the game, specifically with a protagonist that isn’t aggressively unfunny and unlikeable.
Here Dante is a real beast who wants to break free and slash all the demons, so he is driven only by a thirst for Revenge. He is a darker and more dangerous Demon Hunter.
yeah i bought the game because of this trailer... and then i finished the game and was like... so where is the interrogation stuff? it's kinda my fault because i didn't looked it up as the game got released so i didn't know they changed the game... but this story seems so much more interesting
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if this was gonna be a different franchise instead of replacing the Devil May Cry franchise (which was supposed to be earlier). And it could've easily compete against both DMC series and Nier: Automata. I want to mention Bayonetta but God damn, both DMC5 and Nier: Automata sold over 4 million copies worldwide while Bayonetta games were sold like nothing compared to those two.
@@sonofsparda80 nah, this isn't replacing dmc but alternative universe. I guess capcom at that's time already get bored keep releasing with original concept & need something new fresh. @@Uttaaaa Actually, we already knew the concept of reboot. And even if DmC: Devil May Cry takes place in an alternate universe, it was still supposed to replace the original DMC series. Because their plan was to move forward with DmC: Devil May Cry as a reboot, continue it as a whole new series and never going back to the original DMC series. So we're glad that it's not the case anymore. Now if they ever plan to continue making the series starting from where DmC: Devil May Cry left off, I think that we're already good now. Although, when the developers asked Capcom for DmC: Devil May Cry 2 then Capcom rejected it. So I doubt we'll ever see the continuation of DmC: Devil May Cry anymore.
@@sonofsparda80 i've reads some news & it says "itsuno & capcom still love to making dmc devil may cry 2, BUT if working it with ninja theory again". Sadly, Microsoft was bought them & that's what happend.
@@Uttaaaa I already know that. But anyway, the higher ups at Capcom did reject a sequel to DmC: Devil May Cry. So there's that. And I guess the next DMC game will either gonna be DMC6 (which is likely) or another DMC reboot (which isn't likely).
I loved the new DMC, but fanboys really should have kept their mouth shut and let Ninja Theory do their thing. This version if Dante had the potential to be super bad ass.
Their version would have sucked regardless, either we have a flamboyant overly serious try hard badass, or a sloppy and assholic prick who makes terrible attempts at "humor".
+The Crimson Fucker I was calling the Dante in this trailer flamboyant, look at that stupid jacket and hair. The old Dante was stylish, slick, and likeable.
I know I'm gonna be killed for this but they should've kept this Dante. I don't care for the smoking part, but the fact that he uses a demon to put it out is totally badass, plus it shows how much he despises the demons.
Man this was on my favourite trialers ,i wish they would have gone with this dark tone on the game with the prison stuff. His style and clothing in this is just badass and that putting out the cigarette on enemy. so sad that we will never see this universe again.
man now that i think of it i wouldve easily bought the game if they kept it like this this dante felt like actual dante not the one thats in the final product
alex duffy Well if you would to blame someone, you could blame the fan complaints about this one, and partly the developers for giving in to making Dante a more approachable and talkative character. Everything is much closer to the original in this Dante, down to the clothes he wears and the way he acts. This sort of thing happened to the Prince of Persia series, it just goes to show that people don't know what they really want. The best thing to do in cases like these is just to steer devs towards what they feel comfortable doing and not outright tell them what to do.
Honestly, this makes it seem like they were originally going for an American McGee's Alice kind of deal, like Dante is fighting his "Demons" to escape this mental asylum. This could have been wicked cool if they hadnt wussed out and gave us the watered down cringefest that we got.
I personally would've loved this version of the new Dante over what we got. It seems to fit the tone of this, and the final game, much better. The one we have is, ok, I guess, for the style of the new game. The original version of the new dante would've been better though, for the style(more Indies Punk, than "emo")..
