@@TheAnimatedGamer in all honesty, dmc5 is more forgiving than dmc3 (especially with royal guard... to my knowledge, dmc3 doesn't even have a party style royal release)… & Imo I think it messes with the game (in a good way) just enough to require more tutorials. like with dmc3, it was simple, but brutal. in dmc4 & 5, it's more complicated with being able to switch on the go, so people aren't going to just stick with 1 style, so they look up "how to use this style"
a Sixth Tip, Use your ear! Lot of enemies like to growl or do some special aggressive sound before swiping at you Like the Agni and Rudra fight, The second he finishes saying "SIYA" Is the second you use Royalguard or dodge
I just million stab agni and rudra randomly until I eventually accidentally parry them and knock their sword out of their hands and then I just bully them evenly until they are weak enough for me to finish both together before they can transform and whoop me.
nice tips man. I have cerebral palsy and play games one handed. this game beat my ass as a kid but i was eventually able to beat it on DMD and get the plat for the ps3 version, and am now doing it again on ps4. I love this series so much, there's almost an endless amount of depth and complexity to these games. They truly keep on giving the more time you put in. DMC3 is the pinnacle of the series for me. :)
I looked up guides for this game since I bought the switch version. A tip that I saw from one video is the different effects the Devil trigger differently. Like each Devil arm you get has a different function to the trigger form such as Nervan giving you better health regen, Rebellion letting you glide with increased stats, Beowulf giving you extra defensive and resistance to knock back, Cerberus grants you faster speed and attacks and Agni&Rudra have increased elemental power. Very useful for anyone new and trying to get adjusted to the weapons.
@@slkjvlkfsvnlsdfhgdght5447 when you’re in DT, you get stronger, take less damage and can heal damage. Rebellion let’s you glide after jumping or falling off an edge. As for what I said about the elemental damage. All of the weapons Dante used have elemental damage to them like Cerberus having ice, Agni&Rudra having fire and wind and so on. They can deal damage a bit more if it’s against a boss or enemy.
@@demonicdonte7892 so what's the difference between 'more elmental damage' and just 'more damage'? DT already gives you more damage, so it doesn't seem like an extra property
I've been playing DMC with intent of getting good for about 3 years now, and I really think the game benefits by videos like this. Glad to see you sharing your knowledge man, it's very helpful.
Enemies do attack off screen with enimies such as blood- goyles, soul eaters and sometimes enigmas. it can be rather frustrating, but the good thing is that most times they have a audio cue
i had figured out the beowulf thing before watching this vid too, so i was glad that my trial and error cultivated into something. top 10 final boss fights for SUREEEE.
I beat his ass with the coyote and rebellion when I was 9. 4 tries on Devil Hunter. Jk it was human but I saw how to dodge him and nearly killed this omega guy
Just started playing DMC 3 and I've spent a good chunk of my time Helm Breaker jump cancelling on Hell Vanguard and style switching at the start of mission 4. It feels good to revisit the game with a whole new perspective.
Thanks a ton, Mr. Broly2012! Practicing these tricks step by step saved me in the "Dante Must Die" Difficulty in Devil May Cry 3, i masterfully finished it like it was on easy difficulty.
My buddy got DMC3 on Switch maybe a week ago. Although I'm pretty great now, I started out pretty terrible when I first played the game 10 months ago. Guiding my friend through the first 3 missions was... nostalgic. Funny thing: first time he ever played my copy of the game, he was using one of my saves with everything unlocked, and of course he fared pretty well in Mission 2 on Hard mode. He's not overconfident by nature, but he certainly thought he wouldn't die around 10 times on the 2nd mission. He's appalled that I had to start out with that much health, too. xD It was really fun guiding him through the first 3 missions - it's refreshing to play coach sometimes. He was getting pretty stuck on the Hell Vanguard and Cerberus, so I fought the bosses on my own to give him an idea of how to approach them, and then of course killing myself. Maybe that's robbing him of the full experience, but so long as he's forced to get rid of the whole boss healthbar with his own hands, I think it's perfectly fine. I'm just there to teach him what he's capable of. Next time I see him, we're prolly gonna try to get to Mission 7 together. I'm excited to see what he thinks of Vergil, even if it is just his very weak 1st boss fight... I'm just excited, man. This is gonna be so fun to experience again through a new player. And to top it all off, we'll be able to fight together in the Bloody Palace once he unlocks Vergil. Kinda funny... I learn and beat the original copy of the game, I get the Special Edition and learn that, and now I get to experience new stuff on others' Switch editions of the game. There's always something new to do when I get bored.
This is my first time playing this franchise. I started streaming it and man oh man it took me like 30 to 45 minutes to defeat Cerebus and I was playing on normal. This game really is hard but I really do appreciate the tips
I say just keep playing the first few missions over and over again to get more orbs and buy moves to make Dante or Vergil stronger to take out enimies faster
Дедушка, ты живой!? Невероятно. Я всегда вдохновляюсь теми, кто временами возвращается к истокам спустя много лет. Это всегда люто вдохновляет. Всего наилучшего, Pro Daddy Gamer!
i started playing DMC5 as a relative newbie to the DMC series (I beat DMC3 but never replayed it much), and I found these tips helpful, although I don't know how consistent the off-camera trick is in DMC5. It's very helpful to have a roadmap to improvement, and that's what I like most about this video.
0:27 tell you what cerberus in normal difficulty it's actually harder than the legit hard mode because the game developer desided to switch the difficulty to make the first run longer and gives better reviews on the game.
Using the Trickster is a great way to beat the game in rather easy fashion. Having that mobility makes sure you don't get hit so much. I died once on my very first playthrough of this game, thanks to Trickster. :)
SuperArppis bullshit, there is no way you knew all the enemy and boss patterns and attacks like there is no way, like cerberus beowulf ? come on we all die like 20 times on first playthrough
lmao i did the same! after being all hyped up about how badass it was at the game stop, it took me what 3 hours to get to cerberus? and i gave up after failing him like 20 times.
I really appreciate the tips and definitely the acknowledgement that these are hard games for beginners. I've played every DMC game aside from 2 and I'm about to beat 3 but I feel like I'm still a beginner, and the final fight against Vergil (especially his DT form) is emphasizing that feeling hard rn
Oh I know the feeling. I tried doing hard on dmc and I got destroyed. Tried 2 (we don't talk about that) and then went to 3. This game is so difficult sometimes that if I didn't have Google I wouldn't have passed the cerberus fight😅😭. Pisses me off but I love it sm and I'm looking forward to playing 4
@@ili7662 Eyyyy same, 4 was the first one I played and I bought the special edition about a year ago, so I'll play it again eventually and see how much better I've gotten over the years
Thanks for these tips dude. I just got this game and I struggled against Cerberus too for a bit. Hell, I wound up shooting him from a distance to even the field when I almost died and that's how I beat him.
When the game originally launched in America with Normal mode actually being Japan’s hard mode, I could not fit the life of me get past Agni and Rudra. They were the bane of my existence. Apparently though, I’ve heard tons of people had the same exact experience you did. Where they hit a roadblock at Cerberus. A lot of westerners complained that DMC1 and DMC2 were too easy when those games came out. So to spite us Capcom code our Normal Mode to be Japan’s hard mode because we wouldn’t stop talking shit. Eventually, thousands upon thousands of player started complaining DMC3 was waaaay to hard. So roughly a year later Capcom Re-released DMC3 in the west as DMC3 Special Edition with difficulty put back to Japan’s difficulty scale so that Normal was Normal and Hard was Hard. 😂
I'm literally a beginner at this game, and I can confirm this game really, and I mean REALLY encourages you to get good. Yeah it's hard but...it's the fun kind of hard yknow? But then again, I absolutely refuse to use stars💀💀
this video was released in 2018 yet it looks and sounds like something from 2008 lol also i gotta hand it to you, when i was new to the DMC series in 2019 and i played all the games i used this video, so thank you so much for this video it really helped me when i was an absolute begginer
Thanks as a guy who is getting into this series having only played DMC Devil May Cry the 2013 I believe reboot that I actually quite enjoyed, I mean, at the time that was the first one I had played and I actually liked it but, I bought the HD collection and was told to start with 3 and I’m getting my ass handed to me constantly and I’m grinding the first two levels trying to level up because, much like you, I’m constantly getting my ass handed to me on my first run by the Ice Guardian aka Cerberus on Level 3 which, I figure, what the hell, if I’m getting my ass handed to me by the level 3 boss, I need to not only level up my health but get better at the controls
Hey! Fantastic video. I just started playing through the DMC games and I was trying to see if there were any videos with tips in general. I'm stuck on what style I wanna play though! I wanna learn Royal Guard but it's SO difficult. I'm leaning toward Sword Master and Gunslinger!
I was thinking about making a video just like this one, just a bit more in-depth and explaining the technicalities a bit further. Great stuff as always. Would love to see you stream!
Really the fastest immediate way to level up in this game is realizing every action can either be jumped out of or cancelled early. That's pretty much the big gateway right there.
4:06 I beat Vergil with like this on ps2 normal on my first playthrough just because i liked the long combinations with swordmaster. Then it was revealing to me that going the other way was as entertaining as the initial, so i tried most of the game's arsenal and it was truly enjoyable
I watched this after getting bodied by Cerberus. I shouldn't worry about SS ranking anything, until I've obtained every weapon and gotten used to them.
Long time no see broly. You are from the era of brea , kail flamer0, tatsumaru and many more. Glad to see the original ps2 version though. The 2018 remake can't even touch the smoothnes and dark dinamyc to the original one
@@Broly2012 i am still relaxing with the game. I play since 2009 and that's thanks to you guys. When I saw you in RU-vid with your insane skills and the amazing combos I said '' Damn , I want to be like these guys'' . If you wasn't there to show me the full potential of the game, probably I would left it after the completion in normal difficulty. P.S I would like to add an tip to your tutorial. PLAY IN YELLOW MODE. IT'S MORE REWARDING.
Makes me feel better about losing once and winning only after using a vital star. I thought I was just REALLY bad at this game but looks like it's pretty much normal. I thought I was good at these games because I could S-rank most things in DMC4 and Bayonetta. The PS2 DMC games are really fucking hard.
MagaToad he’s eats once you figure out the ice armor has to be off for you to deal significant damage it’s just when he’s almost dead he’ll start swiping you and attacking relentlessly don’t let him
Given how ubiqutus and important cancels are in fighting games, I hope someday we get one where the cancels all have their own animations, and are represented by the character just doing something stylishly fast, like throwing a gun into the air to catch in a holster /while/ they draw and attack with a sword, etc etc.
They won't be animation cancels if they have an animation attached to them.. People say that the backdash cancel in tekke N should be more fluid but then it's not a cancel
I’m finally playing this being I got a new PS3 and it’s Halloween season! A colleague had actually brought it over back when it came out and I thought it played cool..
I remember playing DMC 1 as a kid and having an issue with phantom.... Weird how mission three in both games associated with huge tough mouthy bosses 😅 🐕🕷️🤺
How are you doing the "short jump" you mentioned at 1:40 or so? I am standing there in that exact spot (on a new playthrough, no unlocks yet, etc) and pressing the shotgun fire button at different timing to try and nail it; but just can't, nor can I attack as early as that when off the ground. I'd assumed it was enemy jump cancelling... were it not for the obvious fact no enemy is around lol. Also googling "short jump" yielded nothing. Please help!
@@Broly2012 Thank you so much for the tips! I've been trying it again between progressing the game, whilst using your advice, and have got better at doing it I believe. I found my issue was, like you said, too hard of a press or simply doing it too fast; so after a simple tap of jump and trying different timing along with a calmer pause between firing, I started getting it. Thanks again.
@@Broly2012 Oh, for sure. Been a fan since DMC1, so wouldn't miss it for the world! After playing the DMC5 demo I wanted to go back and replay them - starting with the one I sucked at, which was 3, and you're videos have been a great help fixing my younger days suckage lol.
Ive played this game for years but I didn't know about recoil cancelling, with weapon switch or RG. That Rapid Fire with Spiral was too badass time to go spam it lol
I remember me and two of my friends getting destroyed by Cerberus on Normal. Then, late night, the brother of one of my friends came back from work and he started playing while we went to sleep. We woke up and he was playing Fifa saying that DMC3 is easy and boring. He beat 6 or 7 mission. He was not a gamer.
I’m still trying to get through my first run of DMC3. Beat the first two, and I just had to stop and take a break after dying to Beowulf so many times. This game is hard as hell
What’s the strat for blood birds? I just ebony and ivory at a distance and when they turn to stone, I use stinger and shotgun until they die, is there a better way?
@@Broly2012 Thanks for the quick response. I don't know if I'll use yours because I'm trying to find the most efficient button placement that not only will be good for DMC3, but also for DMC5, with Nero's Exceed system. It looks like your button placements might work for Nero as well. I think I may be able to use the Circle button for Exceed and the X button for Devil Bringers. Either way, thanks for the quick reply. Right now is such a great time to be a DMC fan. Only 8 more days until DMC5 comes out. Can you believe it?
Has all difficulties and at least one costume unlocked but needs to start at mission 1 at most of the modes ... I know this game in and out and this smells like someone used the cheatcode! :D nice video!
You have two ways of dodging. The first way is by dodge rolling, first lock on to an enemy by holding R1, after that move the left stick right or left followed by tapping X. You can also dodge attacks by jumping. If an attack is coming your way just jump to avoid it. Mind you, you only get I-frames while you're rising into the air. Once you start falling you lose I-frames. Hope this helps you.
This game is full of little things that all add up will players really jhave a bunch of uses for spinning around a pole in a fight? Probable not but it is damn badass when it the player finds that one use.
