I just laughed my ass off cuz I was like, “What in the actual fuck?” I thought fundamentals implied weapon switching, DT combos, and air stepping lol It’s absolutely crazy how deep these games are. I played DMC3 to the point of getting a platinum in it, but now I’m a casual.
Vergil was made to punish enemies for being slow. One mistake and you're cut into a million pieces after he resheathes his sword. Look what happened to that Grim Reaper and Beowulf in Devil May Cry 3, they made mistakes, and Vergil punished them for it. Beowulf attacked Vergil, but Vergil was like "No, you're already dead." before he even drew Yamato.
Every time I see your tutorials: "Ok... I get it... yes, I can replicate that... hold on a minute... can you slow down?... wtf is going on?... YOU CAN DO THAT?...AND THAT?...Alright, I suck at this game"
@@dreamymouse4027 that blue meter has to be kind of fool and you have to do it while being in your Devil Trigger and you have to press triangle and circle well you have Yamato
I think I speak for all of the DMC community when I say Thank you. You took the time to put together such a comprehensive study on the combat mechanics for Vergil. I can't wait to see what kind of madness the DMC players out there come up with. :)
Vergil Crosse Well I can't take much credit for what is shown in the video. The DMC community has found these techniques altogether. I merely made a video explaining about them and their uses.
***** The community has founded these, but yet you made it into an easy to understand, fully fleshed out tutorial! You are great man =D Just one thing: Maybe make a video on how to do that *EFF*ING FORCE EDGE COMBO A PROPERLY! Seriously, I got many, many advices on how I have to time the button to get the Million Stab during Combo A, but it never worked! I haven't seen it once! Would be nice if you could do a quick tutorial for this! so far, this is the most frustrating to learn move vergil has... and I'm not even sure how good or bad it might be
***** That's fair. You really DO give the DMC community credit for their findings, but like ***** said, you comprised it into an easy to understand format for everyone to view and grow with instead of having to look at 30 different videos for tech that they may/may not have discovered :) In short: Bravo sir for your contributions! :D
I completed DMC4 on the X360 years ago, I managed to get all the achievements (all S ranks and everything), now I’m playing the DMC4SE and I’m still far from being over average playing as Dante and even worse as Vergil. It was a smart move from Capcom to introduce Nero with his gameplay style that we know, it is fun to play, it’s simple and beginner/casual friendly but at the same time it has enough depth to keep the old DMC players entertained. I love the feeling of power coming from his slow heavy attacks, and the exceed is simply a really interesting addition, whenever I play as Dante and Virgil I miss Nero’s powerful attacks that stun/knock down the enemies, Dante/Vergil are too advanced, they have too much depth, too many weapons, firearms, Styles, the possibilities are endless and I’m not able to do half of what I see in RU-vid videos, but it’s nice to see that the game doesn’t expect you to, it’s not necessary to get the S ranks, this game is just hard enough to be a good challenge, but it gives you the desire to go beyond, to become better than enough, to try to become flawless, even if just in a boss battle, it’s simply rewarding. Good job Capcom.
This is a ridiculously well made video. The clarity, succinctness or meticulousness wherever required, transitions etc are very intelligently handled. The thing I want to especially commend is your choice of music and synchronization with the video. It's crazy how perfect that is. P.S. I'd watched this video years ago but keep coming back to it from time to time. This time i decided to comment on it to show my appreciation.
I've only just noticed thanks to the slowed down parts, but Vergil actually makes 3 cuts when performing Just Judgment Cuts as opposed to the 1 he makes for a regular cut.. a neat visual call back to DMC 3
+waste of time On a side note I always thought my focused dropped if I turned by back on and enemy not because I was running. I wonder if running can be disabled then.
+waste of time Well running can be disabled...If you just hold lock on or don't push the analog stick all the way. There is a trainer that gives you an option to walk if you hold jump or taunt.
+Dark Requiem That makes no sense though..He's clearly dead at the end of DMC1, What form would he even take on if he even did manage that? He wouldn't even have Yamato anymore.
Well yeah, but like, the only way that could possibly make sense for him to come back is if the next game had something that was like disrupting the flow of time or something like that but I just dunno how it would even work with such a concept
+KitsuneFreak We still don't know much about Nero. Is he just Vergil's son(I doubt the capcom employee and the book completely justifies this as fact anyway) or is his arm actually a plot device for Vergil? I really hope DMC5 takes place after the timeline of DMC4 so Nero and Dante "meet again" and we learn more about Nero.
+Blitz Creeper Nero has some sort of relation to Sparda, due to the connection he has with the Yamato, and his alleged place in the Sparda bloodline. While in the past the exact details of this have yet to be established by Capcom in game, the Devil May Cry 4 novel contains hints that Nero is Vergil's son, and this claim has allegedly been confirmed at "Captivate 2009" by one of the Capcom employees who worked on the game's localization.[3] However, it is later confirmed and plainly stated that "Nero is in fact Vergil's son" by the Graphic Arts 3142 art book.
So this is what the top looks like, huh? Geez, I didn’t realize the skill cap was this high. I suck but I really do want to get better and more stylish with my gameplay. Baby steps for me, I guess. This was a good tutorial video that kept things as close to Keep It Stupid Simple as possible. Still had trouble keeping up though. One way or another, I will get closer to this level. Now I’m a little motivated!
pumah yo same here after i saw reboot 2010trailer i left DMC like 4 years and played COD BO1 i never had the memories from DMC in my head it was gone after i saw ramdom trailer called DnC DE i was like are u kidding me i had that feeling like 2010 trailer my face was like this --__-- and i then i saw this one more thing... DMC4SE!!!!!! i was so hyped as helll i jumped from my window xDDDDDDDDDD
@@velocityraptor2890 DMC5 Nero with max damage: - DT perfect MaxActs with spamming gun-button with perfect timing without interrupting attacks AAAAND spamming grab-button with perfect timing to do a wing punch AAAAND thinking about devil breakers, their order and holding down button for super if needed.
Thanks for this tutorial man, I absolutely love playing Vergil in DMC4 and all of his combos are really fun. Thanks for showing us what more we can do with him :D
I’m watching this video in 2022 and I just want to thank you because I was surprised on how much upgrades there where for Vergil and all the possibilities and you here explaining it all, thank you man.
This guide is incredible. Really liking the details and explanations on how his stuff works, much like your Nero guide I've made a reference to long ago. Thank you!
Thx for the help man by just simply having a better understanding of what virgils moveset is about as well as how it works improved my gameplay immensely.
damn I tried using vergil for the first time in 4, thought "wait how do you do multi-judgement cuts" looked up a vergil tutorial, and there it is right in this video. props, man.
Also there's one more thing! I dunno if you can do this with Dante, but if you let an enemy drop onto you and then activate DT you can actually do damage to them. Thanks for always doing these tutorials for us!
great tutorial. I've been having a hard time finding tutorials and stuff like Just Judgement cuts and whatnot so it's really convenient that you compiled all of this info. Thanks
To be honest, I for the love of god can't do nice things with Vergil (And Nero if there's a connection). I simply can't handle the speed of such precise inputs and end up making a random combo mush (and a dead target before I realize it) even with hard practice (that carved ring around the neck of the L-stick of my controller is testament to that). While I agree that some people might find you wrong for saying additional movement is "better", I for one am unable to even control movement that well enough in a combo that I can just decide I want to "add" them in sequence. The moment I try to, the next second is almost always "there goes the badass meter into the floor", so you have my praise for achieving such mastery. For one though, I do think it feels much easier to create combos with Vergil. Nero's exceed and cancels are too much for me (my JC being terrible with all characters is part of the reason). Just a pair of questions though. I can't do that no-charge Judgement Cut Cancel where you showed very fast sliding input from triangle(melee) to circle(air trick). I've tried pressing the sequence as fast as I can and nothing, just a normal attack cancelled into trick. Also, does releasing Beowulf's first charge into a just attack automatically make the attack the equivalent of two charges(or 3/full charge with full Concentration Meter)? I've been wondering if Just Attacking with them on first charge will negate the need to charge them two times per attack.
i really apprerciate ur work , thank u a million times and keep up u'r really helping us :) i've been searching a tuto to learn and master Vergil's play and style , much appreciated bro :)
Wow i had no idea vergil could do some of the things in this video. I have to say i havent seen anyone able to pull moves off like u sir this was so dope.
Great Tutorial!!! Seriously!! Watched a lot of videos doing sick moves in DMC4SE but only one(yet) to explain it and that too this good!! Makes me wanna reinstall DMC4SE!!🙂
***** After playing as them, I can't help but agree. I didn't really enjoy either of them even half as much as Dante, and not even on the same planet as Vergil. I just want a DMC with Vergil as the main character. Capcom, plz.
I wouldn't say terrible. They are just way too simple. They are definitely fun to play for a while but they really lack the depth other characters have and they don't really have a high skill ceiling. Unless there's some tech the very good players have discovered, I don't really think there's a reason to make a dense video about how to use them
you know i used to think i was average at dmc. that was until i went on youtube, and i realized that i could only be mediocre at best ._. dont know how you do these insane combos with perfect weapon switching and jump canceling. Then again ive always played with the default button layout so maybe theres something there that works better.
very interesting tutorial video! i was having a hard time to figure it out how to cancel the short "animation" after the rapid slash, but not after i watched your video!
