@@joshuagraham7998 as much as I love devil may cry 3 it had alot of weapons but most of them had pretty much basic features, with dmc 5 every weapons feels so different and has so many features that you can play around with, don't get me wrong I have a mod for dmc 3 on pc that let's me have every weapon and style available like the switch version but it doesn't feel as good as dmc 5s weapon selection, just an overall better game in my opinion like it should be, hyped for dmc 5 se
Distorted Real Impact is no longer here in DMC 5, it was a game-changer for Dante, but hey, it's still the strongest-short-duration-melee-attack in Dante's arsenal ... the longest one is ofc ... the motorcycle aerial combos
I KNEW that Balrog could stun enemies, but I didnt realize it was only Blow Mode that could do that Your guides are extremely excellent and without them I would not have 100% the game, thank you for making them!
Balrog is my favorite Devil Arm for Dante. Brings me back to that Ifrit feel while having the crazy power of Beowulf while still adding fresh flavor. The ignition mechanic is awesome and most of this I didn't know. Learning something new about Devil Arms and Devil Breakers excites me to go back and play with new perspective. Thank you sir.
I'm so glad you are still putting out dmc5 guides. It feels like there isn't many dmc5 videos anymore. It feels like the community for this game died down super quick compared to how long the dmc4 community stayed active, dunno why. You're a legend though for putting these out. Would love to see a Cerberus guide from you. A big thing I learned with it is you're able to cancel the pole dance move (air sword master move) early when Dante's feet touch the ground into any of other Cerberus's moves, negating the knockback effect of the move at the end.
Maybe it'll get more videos after the whole you know, "muh playable VERGIL DLC when?!" thing get over with. That and people got so many games to try this year. DMC5 was competing with Sekiro when it was released remember, and that game has some depths, mind you. Maybe the community still looking for things in DMC5 that wasn't yet discovered? Like when i discover on DMC reddit that you can actually parry attacks while hover boarding with Punchline. So many things to tech and try out. But i think for the most part, DMC5 guide videos are everywhere when the game came out. Like from JoJo Wifi for example. But maybe some guides aren't that in-depth like this one.
Because we all waited around for the dlc announcement and then were told there isn’t any dlc coming and to go home so the community effectively died from lost hope. The game is a masterpiece but there are things missing from this game that people really wanted and that should have been included either through base game or dlc. Virgil and the girls All costumes from previous games More tracks to use during battle Just to name a few
@@AggressiveSushi It's pretty much all that. I'm guessing we will have to wait until special edition for at least Vergil, hopefully all the other stuff too. But to be honest I don't think the game caters to the older players much. Donguri even doesn't seem to be playing it that much. I feel like it's not fast as DMC4 with all the moves being faster and him using stuff like flying guard to move super quick. I like it more though to be honest cause it seems like it's just more reliant on knowing how to combo your weapons together in dmc5.
Some fun facts from looking through the animation files: -Pyromania is called Kick13 in the animations and hitbox files -The blow mode rapid jabs are actually a weird combo, kinda. They're like 4 animations that seem to be picked at random when you press the button. If you change hit 2 to the Welter Move left hook, and hit 3 to the Welter Move right gut shot, then it will (seemingly) randomly jump between jabs, hooks, and gut shots. More testing would be needed for me to say if there's a pattern.
@@meathir4921It was called kick 13 in dmc1 and dmc4 as well. No idea why it's called kick 13 when they never kick 13 times but the 13th tarot card is called death and looking at dmc4 where dante has a lot of moves related to gambling, and there are 13 cards per suite 2-10 Jack, Queen, King and Ace.
You have an awesome avatar and nickname. I was heartbroken and disappointed Iorweth didn't play an important role (or made an appearance!) in The Witcher 3. They really dropped the ball on this.
@@SlayerSeraph I see you too are a man of culture. Character-wise he's my favourite addition the games brought into the canon, and it truly is a shame that the entire non-human subplot was dropped in the third game. The scoia tael are an awesome variation on typical high fantasy elves and Iorweth personified it perfectly
Iorweth I truly don't understand his exclusion from the 3rd game. Not to mention Saskia Dragon Curse plot also removed from the sequel. Rendering the biggest final decision of the game absolutely meaningless. In the second game your choices can result in Iorweth alive or dead depending if you came to his aid. Choosing his side was the path I took in two playthroughs. Also in the end of game you can leave the Dragon to her fate, kill her, or lift the curse (although I saved Triss so I didn't have that option- I walked away instead). I was so hyped when the trailers for TW3 and some screenshots showed "dragons" in the distance. It was just Wyverns, unfortunately, but while playing the game I was really hoping for a special side quest in Skellige where you chase and battle down Saskia and trying to lift the curse perhaps. Or a quest where you meet her as human. But they didn't bother featuring here! No Dragon fight... Nothing. And Iorweth - was also absent, but I think I heard his voice actor in TW3. There's a side quest where you track down the elves, and then meet up with the mysterious elf leader: the camera zooms slowly up and I was sure it's going to be Iorweth!... Only to end up being a random forgettable elf girl. I'm sure he was cut from the game. They should have made a big expansion with him and maybe Saskia -perhaps venturing to Dol Blathanna! Meeting the Elf Queen Francesca.
I like how Balrog has three of his styles implemented into its gameplay. The ability to switch between Kick & Punch mode is similar to Dante switching to his other styles, he gains new toys, yet is still the same overpowered goofball we know. Trickster = All the invulnerable movement options that put Dante closer to his opponent. Swordmaster = Ignition. I personally call Ignition "Speedrun Mode." but, Dante's gets the most damage when he's in a foe's face smacking them with crazy combos. We can tell this because of certain moves in this weapon being locked behind Ignition and his wise-cracking quotes upon executing them like "Damn I'm hot." When he completes Pyromania in Kick Mode. Royal Guard = Kick Mode's back+special button. This move parries & is invulnerable. Perfect Welter. Yeah, this is basically a perfect Royal Guard without the release mechanic, but with a optional punch that can parry to stop attacks from many enemies. Overall, in terms of how good it stacks up against other damaging things in DMC 5, my list is: 1. Dr. Faust/Royal Guard. 2. Balrog. Devil Sword Dante. 3. Shotgun/King Cerberus. 4. Caveliere/Everything else.
How good is Dr.Faust with Royal Guard combined though? You made me very curious. What moves do you use to make Dr.Faust/RG combo so good on damaging things?
@@lucaswibisono1316 It was more of a list on the most powerful weapons/things Dante has. But, you want an explanation, so I'll give my insight. Dr. Faust is 'pay to win' the weapon. If you have the funds Red Hot Night becomes the most damaging multi-hitting attacks in the series. The normal fire button with Faust floats enemies after a 3 second period before Dante says "It's showtime." It becomes 2 seconds in DT. Both versions melt enemy health & is easily the strongest gunfire Dante has. Man In The Red Hat bestows Dante with many revolving Red Orbs that bludgeon enemies very close to Dante. Anyhow, Royal Guard + Faust is very powerful. Man In The Red Hat + successful Royal Guarding gives loads of DT while doing a steady stream of damage.
Thats quite interesting. I mostly use Dr. Faust for the Hat Trick (with the follow up) to lure enemies in and farming Red Orbs lol. Maybe because i hadn't unlock every moves so there's that. Maybe i should give Dr. Faust a spotlight for once.
One combo that I didn't see featured which is a favorite of mine: Ignited Friction into immediate Break Spiral. I feel like it was designed to be a follow up to that move as the launch leaves enemies open to be essentially blended by the spinning. Got a Proto on the ground? Soften him up with blows to ignite and then come in with the combo to keep him out of the fight by juggling him. It's also great for Aetennoras or any enemy that can be juggled. It can also juggle multiple enemies if they're grouped together.
Awesome guide Dude! I love your videos! Just managed to get all 51 Achievements and 1180 GS on Xbox One with some of your guides! I love this game and still grind it to master all characters. Keep up the good work. 💚
tiny tip for those who fight vergil with Nero: Use buster(R2) when he comes flying towards you, it worked on projectiles and charges on devil may cry 4 and I basically ascended Nirvana when I discovered it worked here as well lol
This video was AWESOME, and has certainly helped my understanding of how to use the Balrog. Thank you for making this video, and for sharing these tips!
I would like to add that I had had some trouble figuring out how the ignition and some of this weapon's other techniques worked, and that this this video really helped me understand them better. This video also opened my eyes to how versatile this weapon is. I played around last night and tried to use this weapon exclusively, and I was receiving multiple SSS ranks. Thank you again!
My only problem with Balrog is that I wish it had a bit more range and impact in its un-ignited form. It took me the longest time to realize Vergil doesn't get stunned from the basic punches.
If a weapon has speed, range and impact, it would make other weapons less useful, that's why Dante's main mechanic (apart from styles) revolves around changing weapons
3:39 why is it that we can fight in any direction with Balrog but not with any other weapon? Especially after the devs stated that they removed stuff like reversals cause "People would do it by accident."
This channel is awesome.... Who knew that this game's combat has more depth than pretty much any action game out there. These videos are addicting to watch even tho ive moved onto devil may cry 3 hd, as i am a DMC noob lol
Just noticed it If you look closely when switching Kick and Blow mode, Dante's shoulder pads (pauldrons) disappear when in kick mode and if you freecam on Dante while he's doing Bantam Revenge or Rising Dragon, his pauldrons merge with his fist to look bigger
Alan Conqvist thanks, your videos are the best. Also i know they must take forever already, but as a new player it would be cool to see the move inputs on screen; Red Q Combo B: YY, YYYYY
Beowulf on vergil has some insane damage but yeah, apart from the minor annoyance of requiring ignition for real impact, Balrog is pretty much the best one yet for Dante. Although gilgamesh real impact + distortion is by far the highest damage.
@@Bloodhurl67 i tried he doesnt throw anything..he just sticks his hand out like a palm smack..ive seen it done ALOT but for some reason Dante never throws ANYTHING lol wtf it drives me crazy
I think what they meant by taking increased damage is while Dante doing the kick mode dance, because just now I took a single Judgement cut on DMD and it did seemingly double damage. Just under half a maxed out health bar.
I don't know if this was in here cause I'm too lazy to check but there's a special technique in which you can increase the damage of real impact with activating you D.T. the same time when it's first hit lands. It's calle D.T. Distortion you can also do these with the final hit of Dante's dance macabre.
I'm STILL playing this game, almost 200 hours in! It's just so much fun to PLAY. All I really do is run BP but that's enough. I've cleared it with Dante and Nero so far but V eludes me. I can't get a grip on playing him in SoS+
Late but hey. 6:04 Does this mean Ignition doubles the "stun points" Dante accumulates, or that the remaining values on each enemy is halved? I'll try to find out myself but I'm bad so may take a while.
I need notations when learning combos. There are 2 bases of notation, I believe, could be more idk. I'm more used to the number pad variation bc of my time spent playing fighting games based in the ark style. The name of the skill isn't actually my main target tho and there are way to many to learn and remember what sequence of buttons to hit. I need at least one guide from anyone who can tell me which buttons to hit, if there is a delay or Lockon is needed along with if I need to push my left stick back or towards the opponent. An example could be something like this( stay with me I don't know if this is the actual strings ) lock-on could be shortened with (LO) and the melee attack and gun attack along with the style button can be shown as (M), (G), (S) respectively. Or something everyone can understand since not everyone has same button layout. And (B) (F) for back and forward of course. (LO+b+M), j. (M,M), j.c, (M,M,M) It just seems easier to understand once each skills or whatever it's called like devil trigger, exceed, ect. Have been given abbreviations like (DT) (EX) and so on
No because unlike other taunt type moves like rainbow or rose throw, ignition doesn't use up your taunt. As you know you can't taunt twice consecutively as the cooldown for the style gain starts after your first taunt and lasts for quite awhile. However you can ignition and then taunt right after and get a style raise for both. Other taunt moves won't let you do this, so ignition counts as its own type of style gain.
@@desmontpaisley9194 this video is done with ps4's share recorder. If your talking about the stream attempt from the other day that was done with ps4's brodcast feature to youtube.
I love how Balrog still has a presence. Makes it really feel like a sentient Devil Arm and not just a random weapon. Still get pumped up by IGNITE THE FLAME... NOW!
