Great video! This helped me lessen my time with Urizen 3 in Bloody Palace! There's some things I'd like to add though, that I think wasn't mentioned in the video but could help!! - During Phase 1: Once you flinch him, you actually have enough time to squeeze in a Charge Shot 3 in between Showdown and Buster. So try doing Showdown > Charge Shot 3 > Buster for more damage!! - During Phase 2: The video already discussed pretty much everything for this phase. It's pretty vanilla! Though I'd say keep an eye on his Meteor Attack. If you parry the meteor back at him, it actually causes him to flinch like in Phase 1. Though you may need a second flinch to stun him. I got to stagger him a few times through the meteor, but I can't remember if it's by chance or it's because I've flinched him prior to hitting the meteor back. The (what I'd consider) safest way to parry the meteor without a breaker is by having EX3 Split. I generally just do an air attack to do it though, but if you have a breaker like Gerbera, you can use that to deflect it instead! (Rawhide should work too...) - During Phase 3: There's an alternative way to dodge the ground spike move without doing the High Roller EX3 move. This requires that you're aware of the ground that you're stepping on. Generally, if the ground is tainted with blood/red, then it means that the spikes will come up from there. So, stand on areas where there's none of that. Be wary though, if the ground is surrounded by blood and the actual area without that is too little, the spikes will appear anyway. after this, just dodge his melees normally. I usually do a jump back then table hopper to the right for the next attack.
Good summary of Urizen's moveset By the way, if you use Payline at the right moment (the midair move that launches you towards the locked target), you can ignore his blast attack which pushes you away. Also since the buster devil breaker breakage move can deal much more damage than Nero's default devil bringer, I would recommend bringing one too. Speaking of the buster arm, there is a good cheese tactic about it on level 99 where you fight the tentacle ver. of Urizen. If you stun level 99 Urizen when under half health and use the buster arm breakage move on him, not only does it have enough damage to kill him instantly, it also won't really break, letting you Keep that buster arm for level 100. It's probably because level 99 ends immediately after the boss reaches 0 health, which left no time for the game to execute the arm breaking animation after using the breakage move.
you can also avoid his final stages spike attack by enemy stepping up his head and triple jumping, holding his wings and then spamming shoot to stay in the air
Ive been playing Devil may cry for atleast 4 years and I finally beat bloody palace with Nero for the first time. Your time will come too. But for now youre just dead weight. (Im joking please dont crucify me)
@@disquietellie this makes me feel better about losing on floors 99 and 100 back to back. One trick that helped me the most is, to run around the outside and face camera outward, that way enemies can't start any animations since they are off-screen. This was a year ago, you ever get around to completing it?
Ik I’m 4 years too late, but THANK YOU for this guide. It got me all the way to Virgil. Idk if you have a guide for him but I’ll check. You helped me a shit ton and I killed Urizen faster than I thought with that cheese method. Again THANK YOU for the guide.
Genuinely a very helpful video. Literally the entire first half I was just saying, "Why didn't I think of that?" seeing moves like Showdown during the startup for each phase, or using Max Exceed to get that high into the air. My own strategy for his fight actually ended up being a bit of a combination of your methods. Chip away at him in phase 1 with Blue Rose to avoid stunning him Rush him in DT and hope to god I stun him in phase 2. Hit him with a charged buster arm to cut out most of phase 3 and hope to god I can make it from there. Though after seeing this, that strategy will probably get some reworking, so thanks
Ngl, I'm glad the devs had merci on us and decided not to let him hit like a goddamn truck. (I guess they learned from the DMC4 palace... God the memories...) Seriously tho, compared to the DMD Urizen 2, this one is so much more fun to fight imo, probably because he doesn't keep respawning his crystal every 2 goddamn seconds, which takes nearly the entire ammunitiom reserves of the USA and Russia combined to destroy
Nero struggles on the regular floor enemies mostly but damn, he melted Urizen 3 on his aerial combat. Too bad it was a sigh of relief rather than a complete victory because Urizen 2 had me “on the edge”.
That is pretty badass watching Nero do a showdown followed up by buster. I sometimes get jealous of people who are really good at this game since you could do wicked stuff like that when you are.
I'd reccommend using the devil breaker that acts like Nero's devil bringer and use break age if you stun him. On SOS it takes half of vergils health bar (during mission 19, not sure if its different on bloody palace)
You forgot to mention his "footsweep" attack that he can use. He uses it as early as Phase 1. It's not as common as his other physical attacks but it's a lot faster than the punch requiring you to have a better reaction time. He mainly uses it if you're on the ground within his physical attack range but it's easy to avoid if you Snatch or Enemy Step him. Edit: Not a footsweep, a low kick. He can follow it up with another low kick.
Really recommend doing warm-ups on your worst levels. I struggled on 60 a lot, now 60 is just a buffer level that is used for healing in case I got damaged.
In the first and second phase make like The denizens in black ops 2 zombies and keep scratching his face after the second phase be on the defensive cus half of his attacks can hit out of the air.
what is ur controller layout? I only ask because as mine is, it's super awkward to use Showdown, I have to press forward, R1, SQUARE and CIRCLE - which means i have to do like a gang sign just to do it, and it always messes up. Wish there was a workaround because its actually such a vital skill to keep messing up.
im so sad. so i lost on stage 99 thinking it was the final stage. come back with a vengeance and finally beat it, and get so hype u have no idea. hit A to continue only to be thrown into this fight. Was actually super easy until the final phase, but i was so damn nervous I choked and tanked a couple combos and lost. if i just stayed on top of him in final phase, instead of spam dodge and gun I think i woulda been fine. But the high roller technique seems handy. thanks and i guess im going back in :/
I needed to see a guide bcs phase 3 is a pain for me and I need to find some solutions to avoid damage. I unfortunately cheat with savefile reload to get to Urizen Stages. However my reason for it is I finished Vergil campaign first and unlocked BP before finishing the main story. Meaning: I am doing BP without DT, Devil Bringer, Charged Shot, Air Hike (just for extra challenge). *sees P2 strafing to side strat* It can't be that easy ... It's that easy. I wonder if I can do the high roller strat to avoid it all If I use just Gerbera and Air Taunt...
Basically Urizen 3 phase 2 = annoying tryhard kid playing Dragon Ball Budokai using an OP character and spamming the same buttons again and again. He has no freaking windows to attack with any kind of style. It sucks tbh.
You may as well just go with Super Nero/Dante/V. After all, you're free to use them in Bloody Palace. But stick to the whole dodging his attacks while hitting him at the opportune time. Never get reckless. Point of Super characters is, take every advantage you can. Play smart, not make things a living hell.
