Yeah they eventually stop. I sometimes feel like just let it spawn in the background while I style on the enemies lol.

They actually take damage every time they summon an enemy, and eventually destroy themselves.

I love how in this video you used distance with Dante and height with Nero to keep safe. It perfectly illustrates the differences between the characters.

It is very difficult to lose the Quad S momentum in this mission if you ignore the spawners. Flawless gameplay.
