So lovely to see this earlier recording of Dimitri and his earlier life...loved hearing him sing Figaro!....He did so well to master the English language so quickly....so very sad now in 2020 to think how heartbreaking it was to lose this wonderful man to brain cancer at the young age of 55 in 2017. Still very very much missed and mourned, those who did hear him sing must now realise how very lucky they were, but he lives on in our hearts and recordings. RIP Dima...you are still very very special to us. 😘💐💐💐💐💕
How fabulous to hear this interview for the first time and to get my scalp tingling over and over during the excerpts of him singing. Such an amazing artist xxx
Merci mille fois Merci. 🌹🌹🌹🕊🕊💖
Dmitri is so charming and handsome. no wonder every woman is falling all over for him. I didn't know "Sundsy Morning" show featured him, it was when he made Met debut around 95. He was already riding high then. Thanks for the post.
Now his voice is much fuller, deeper, technically equipped with pinpoint frasing and incomparable breathcontrol. Just compare his old and new recordings(romances, arias(Verdi espessially, but not just ), and it'll be obvious to you that the newer is mush superior. Take his artistic growth and superb vocal technique. lyrical is not better than Verdian- just a different janre. Now this is a gorgeous baritone'in top of his form, able to sing as dramatic as lyric roles perfectly.
