Real recognise real he knew he had two guys in the shop pulled up in a Hummer wearing a ton of jewelry they may not look like they belong in a country club but they obviously got money and if your trying to sell something their in the market for why would you disrespect them ... You don't have to make the sale if the customer knows what they want
@Shot Uce I ment this. Copied from Google What lite means? The definition of lite is a slang term for light that means having less substance than something else. An example of something lite is a lite soda that has fewer calories than regular soda.
You are spot on that one. When I was a salesman at a dealership a few years back, the people who surprised me the most were the most humble, dressed in walmart clothes, and were very cool and not at all uptight. Those folks usually were the ones with very deep pockets. As opposed to the uptight people acting like they're rich and too good to be spoken to by a "salesman," extremely rarely did they ever make a purchase and when they did you bet your ass they were fighting tooth and nail for every last penny. And sure enough, their credit usually turned out to be dog 💩 too lol. I treated everyone equally, and I knew to always treat people who seemed to be broke with a little bit more respect because those were usually the folks who were amazing to work with.
@@PhattPhatt07 Quick similar story i was told years ago that you might find amusing. I'll give you the cliff notes. This took place probably back in the early 90's in Florida. The eldest son of a very famous international recording artist went into a luxury car dealership looking at cars. This guy is known for dressing down, cargo shorts, t shirts, flip flops etc, doesn't have an entourage, very low key. Anyway the snob salesmen took one look at him and probably thought this bum cannot afford anything in here so they ignored him. After awhile seeing that he was being ignored, he quietly left, went to another dealer and bought 2 brand new Mercedes, no financing necessary. 😂 Those salesmen at the original dealership probably cost themselves a 5 figure commission that day. 😢There's truth in the saying, 'Never judge a book by it's cover.'
Also you’d think them walking in with a big duffle bag would be a dead giveaway it’s probably filled with cash. Whether you’d assume they were athletes, rappers, trappers, janitors etc you still treat them the same. Respect.
I remember going to look at Ford Raptors before everyone had one my uncles buddy looking like an express lube employee but had 100k in the backseat of the old ford f250.
The white guy simply wasn't an obnoxious a-hole which the black dude actually was, a representation of an obnoxious a-hole. This entire scene could have been played out by an entire white/asian or Black cast and the attitudes would have been the exact same.
or he knows not to judge a book by how it looks. here is another example for you even tho its fake ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-64Kj8u5UdGg.html
@@majesticwyatt2192 Correct. This movie was released in 2003 and takes place in San Francisco. The sales tax there in 2003 was 8.5%. The total with tax is $309,225. So he had to pay nearly $10k out of pocket for that sale lol. Or that was the commission he was supposed to make.
DMX and Anderson pull up in a hummer with a dufflebag and yet the black salesperson didn't think they were about that lavish life. Use your context clues homie.
Almost forgot about this scene, one of my favorites. The car salesman was hilarious. "Would you turn the mother...f**king engine off," gets me every time.
He was cool with the guy who said less words and didn't shift like a chameleon based on who entered. The message is, *it's not about the color, stay true and u got it.
@Differential Education Who the fck is they ?! We are talking about The guy who got the money!! Not all white people. And even if I was evil who the fXK are u?! U better recognize before. U get fathered! son
dmx been dead a long time man. that nigga was a clone. u dont have to believe it if u dont want to. but the dmx from last 2 or 3 years we seen aint the real dmx. rip 1 of the goats.
"You don't have to yell, all you have to do is ask" - Dude asks several times to turn engine off while he is non stop revving an engine as loud as a jet.
They weren't fools. They already sensed the condescending stereotypical energy from the salesman when they first entered the dealership. to get back at him they were deliberately ignoring him and acting the way they did with the engine revs and loud music.
He didn't ask, he looked down on them profiling them like guys from the hood and told them to turn it off. Asking and telling are two different things. No respect.
@@TTTempesTTT420 did you watch the same video as I did? As soon as he revs the engine the dude asks "Could You turn off the engine?" Twice. of course, I did not miss the fact that the guy is condescending. That is the whole point of the video. I was just pointing out in my other comment that he did in fact ask him to turn the engine off and then DMX said "All you hafta do is ask."
RIP to a real one. This is Grand Touring in Toronto. I worked at this dealership until it was torn down. Happened to snag an exit wounds mug that had been lying around for years.
@Mick Mack $300k cash plus the Hummer H1 trade. That’s about $375k-$400k right there. More then enough to cover everything and a hefty bonus to the salesman.
@@BGcontentproduction These vehicles sometimes are hired from other people and they would not let them rev the engine like that, specially if it was cold. These high performance motors need to warm up a bit otherwise you would damage the internals.
I think this scene is supposed to be about not judging a book by its cover. How you shouldn't think black people can't afford nice things. But Andersons character acts like a complete jackass from moment one. Pulls up recklessly, talks at a scream with no thought of the other people in the room. What this scene really shows is money is the only thing that matters.
@@kengeerts1406 Rich people do not live by the same rules that the rest of us have to deal with. In that situation, the store manager would send you down to the bank to get a cashiers check for those funds. Your job is to sell cars, not to prove the legitimacy or legality of money, that is for the cops.
To the comment about "its not there job to prove legitimacy of money". If a business receives money that is part of a crime, that money can be taken back as evidence in that crime. It would be in the best interest of the company to accept what they believed to be legal currency. The cashiers check idea would offer more protections for them
If I know when to go to a dealership I like to wear the crappiest looking clothes to see how humble they are. That helps me understand who I'm buying from a lot better.
Here is funny story for you. My old manager told me when he was new in car business about 20years ago, some random guy in plain shirt came in. Asking about yellow hummer. No salesman helped him but my manager did. Guy ended up being owner of multiple clubs in Vegas. Bought nothing but expensive cars only thru him over the decade
@@redsampler2017 Nope, but I’m in sales myself. I never judge the client on their attire, car, or home. In fact, the bigger the home, the cheaper they are lol 😂
@@bigmacattk good to hear man/woman.. im in sales as well and ive seen all sorts.. ''the more they dress up the more they speak fancy language the more they suck'',.. is just my experience,..
For real. Even if the not-cheap-at-all Hummer didn’t give it away, the salesman probably read him well. Knew the customer could and would leave with something. Just needed to wait for the right car to speak to him.
To this day, I only remember about Exit Wounds is “Ain’t No Sunshine” and DMX telling the salesman that he didn’t have to yell, just ask, and he would get better results. Rest in Power X
It was obvious that they allowed people to start cars up in their that is why the white guy threw him the keys. The brother was being an ass to his own kind because he thought they were hood and couldn’t afford any of the cars. He even lied and said they don’t allow test drives. What dealership don’t allow test drives. While he (meaning the black dude) was looking at how they were dressed he never paid attention to the bag they were carrying but the white boy did notice the bag. And that is why he stayed quiet with the keys in his hand. Because he knew that they had that bag in that bag.
Rip DMX... have to say I walked into. Ferrari dealership in Florida one time and the experience was the exact opposite. No pompous assholes surprisingly, just salesmen whi really appreciated the vehicles they were selling.
R.I.P dog... This film inspire me as a kid.. and in 2009 I bought golf V GTI like this.. cash in bag and I pick... Man what a feeling... I will never forget it...
