Hey I’m Andrew The Once A Day Farmer, I farm alongside my father on my family dairy farm in New Zealand.
Our Dairy system is quite unique as we only milk our 320 jersey cows Once A Day (hence the name), and they stay outside on grass for 365 days of the year!!

It's funny how the weather is affecting farmers around the globe We've had a horrible spring one of the worst in living memory Feb was very dry and March and April were far wetter than normal our dairy farmers have really struggled and cows and young stock have been in and out like yoyos Where as farmers in the mid West of USA who's main income is hay the grass isn't growing due to drought they've finally got some rain today Doesn't giving them so much lush grass so close to drying off cause you problems with them still producing a lot of milk ?

It's a pain to dna but once it's done it makes life so much easier to keep records accurate. We started it 10 year's ago. The amount of animals that weren't recorded was shocking.

Have you increased your pasture area or will you be selling some of them heifers seeing as your incalf ratio for the cows is so good surely you won’t be needing all those replacements.? In Ireland we wouldn’t have grass growth like that in November. Does yer winters stop growth for long?
