I just hate the word "Influencer". Especially when people call themselves that.

I think being in influencer is a broad term but I think 300k+ is like officially big time imo

you don't have to be "big" to be an influencer. there are types of influencers referred to as micro-influencers. brands work with them because they tend to have higher engagement rates than large influencers with lots of inactive followers.

After all if they claim to be one its just interesting to hear what each one has to say. I was pretty shocked to see that a majority agreed to photo shopping their pictures. It's like they want to show their best self over their real self which says a lot haha

I agree with rob about niche. For instance, im a swimmer and there arent many people who make swimming content (there is a guy on less than 100k who gets sent all types of swim stuff to review even since before 10k subs). Therefore the threshold to be an influencer in that area is much lower than say a lifestyle influencer (or professional unemployed person) who may need to amass millions of followers to be considered large.

Great channel and you guy’s vids always make me laugh, but I do disagree when you said “You don’t really have to care about the brand”..what if the brand your not supposed to “care” about is racist, sexist, or homophobic. I think you should care. When supporting and using your platform to promote a brand, I believe caring and doing your research on said brand is important.

My definition of an influencer is a person who can do social media as a full time job and be able to support yourself

I usually agree with you guys but an influencer can be anyone you don’t necessary have to have clout,but yes the clout helps.People can feel influenced by anyone and anything from how to do something, to be influenced to workout or to be influenced to go for your dreams Etc. Now don’t get me wrong you can be a bigger influence then others.

I think that you don't have to have a lot of followers to be an influencer. You can have 1 person that follows you and you can still be a influencer because that person looks up to you. Being a influencer can be public and private I think. You don't have to have 1 mil followers to be a influencer. If 1 person look up to you, you are a influencer to that 1 person. Maybe not everyone. But to that 1 person your special to him or her.

I personally believe the person with 5k subs on RU-vid is more of an influencer then the ones that don’t do RU-vid. RU-vid makes videos that I believe are more “influencing” and is way different then instagram where it’s just a picture of yourself verses trying to make a 10 minute long video and get people to watch it even if it’s small.
