@@lizzieenswellness Do they believe in having blood work tests to know if an expecting mother is RH negative though? I am wondering if it is just not a concern within the general Amish population. Since they generally are of German ancestry, and RH negative bloodtypes are quite rare in those with German ancestry. Also, if no one is really marrying in or out, the introduction of someone with an RH negative blood type isn't happening. For lack of a better or more sensitive way of putting it: those with that particular genetic "glitch" may have already bred themselves out within that population. Since, without intervention, RH- blood can potentially limit viable pregnancies. Apologies, my brain went about five different directions with what could have just been one simple question. I am RH negative as well, O - actually. My German husband is B+, Three kids, they're all O+ lol.
@Happytown7523
@Happytown7523 Месяц назад
Me too. It is definitely not vital because still the risk of RH blood contamination is low, and even with contamination, this does not guarantee future complications. A personal choice.

Native Americans here in southeastern United States are mostly RH- (hence they always are stolen by the government-vampires don’t want antigens on their dna feasts) anyway they try to have as many children at home and not tell anyone about it, especially at medical facilities as possible. Now, of course, since the Native community is mostly RH- chances are the dad and Mom are both Rh negative so it’s not as big of a problem as with normal Americans of mixed races. But also Of course they do CERTAIN parasite cleanses (there are several things that will not terminate pregnancies, but help many pre baby day things) to keep the parasitic RH antigen off of their babys dna… just incase amongst many other things. I don’t think it’s hard for anyone in 2024 to realize lobbyist in DC have hidden many truths, but when ya tell modern people this, and they start freaking out cause Doctors have been willingly killing or causing miscarriages of this very valuable blood type. But there are many people who know how to easily avoid our age negative complications, but you won’t hear about them from your doctors.Aka the third leading cause of Death

My sister is too. She found out when her 1st child was born. She also had [can't remember what it's called] high blood pressure during pregnancy with the related water retention. It was pretty scary. When my niece was born 3 weeks early, the umbilical cord was bent in half and embedded in the placenta. She was very tiny for her gestational age. The Dr said she likely would have been a stillbirth if they hadn't induced my sister!! 😮 She's 37 now and an Industrial Engineer.

My husband and his twin were born in 1971 - no ultrasounds back then. Most of the time it's pretty easy to tell with just a stethoscope, but sometimes one twin will hide! LOL Twins aren't uncommon in his mother's family - there's another set a few years older than my husband - and she went full-term (two 6-pound babies!), so it wasn't a huge surprise.

So cool 😊 I like a lot of the aspects of how they are handling pregnancy and birth. Some say it was risky of your mom to “fool” the doctor about the twins but I believe if you’ve had a certain amount of babies you have a strong intuition for what’s going on in your body. I have had two children and the second birth I was so much more secure in my body and aware of what was happening. If I was to have a third, I would not let the hospital staff convince me of anything I didn’t believe in. Had to fight a bit to deliver my second son who was in breech vaginally.

Birthing babies unmedicated doesn't impress me so much (I've done it thrice and would choose to do it again every time if I were to get pregnant again), but carrying sixteen pregnancies to term (presumably) with three of those being twin pregnancies, plus likely also nursing all of those babies--that's what feels impressive to me! Nursing babies is totally worth it, but it's also a definite commitment. And pregnancy and postpartum, in my experience, can both be a wild ride 😂

@@Freaky0NinaFor women under the care of doctors pushing the non-natural birthing methods rampant in US hospitals, I don't doubt it. But, at least for the German Baptist and Mennonite women in our rural Indiana area, they are typically under the care of midwives using traditional, natural birthing methods. You'd be amazed at how much pain relief is available in a woman's own body just through natural practices! Birth is no joke, don't get me wrong, and I'm not even saying there's never a place for pain medication, but based on what I know about natural birthing I'm not surprised to hear of an Amish woman only having unmedicated births. But pregnancy and breastfeeding are long(er)-term commitments that require a lot (physically, mentally, emotionally) from a woman over time--even with singletons!

A skilled midwife or doctor can determine pregnancy by the end of the first trimester just with a physical exam. Many women have symptoms by 6-8 weeks, and I could feel all of my babies by 10-12 weeks (proven by ultrasound for everyone who tries to argue that quickening doesn't happen that early; babe would literally kick the probe and I could feel it and tell the nurse in the split second delay before the monitor juggled). Home pregnancy tests have only been around for a generation or two. No period, bloating, and nausea was usually enough for a women to be confident she was expecting by the time she missed her second period in a row. Cryptic pregnancies are more common in the developed world because of irregular periods (which are often connected to stress and obesity) and the use of contraception.

I'm a twin and my brother has a name with special significance, while my name isn't similar and doesn't have any significance. In our class in elementary school were also two other sets of twins. One were brother and sister like we are and their names started with the same letter and were both totally normal names with the same amount of syllables, so I guess they somewhat matched. The other twins were identical twins and their names matched beautifully. They almost rhymed, same vowels, different consonants. Brillianty named those two. So in my experience I would say most have matching names, but that is no evidence, so who knows?🤷🏼‍♀️

My great grandparents were old amish in PA, My G-Grandpa buit their house and barn, they had 14 kids. If my grandma didn't leave the amish i would have grown up in yhe Amish community as well. Alot of people look down on the Amish community, but in my opinion the Amish live the logest, they rarely get camcers,they almost always have healthy successful pregnancys, and are usually very healthy on general. I use some of the Amish traditions like with soap for instance, i use goats milk, ive never had my Ph balance off, unlike "regular woman" who use all that harsh chemicals that throw their ph off.

Idk that we would really know if they suffer from any illnesses bc they don’t really believe in medical intervention. So, they very well could have the same prevalence of cancer but we wouldn’t really know that. We also wouldn’t really know about pregnancies bc not all Amish communities will use midwives and doctors, sometimes it is a “midwife” in the sense that it’s a woman from the community who helps deliver the babies. It really depends on the community from what I’ve read, anyway. I don’t think people really look down on them, just curious about them really. Like why would God provide all that He has on this Earth and they don’t want to take advantage of it? But to each their own. And it’s “women”. And using goats milk doesn’t guarantee pH consistency. Congratulations for a great pH balance though. Huge flex, I guess. And if you would like to, I’m pretty sure you can go live among the Amish and integrate into their way of life.

Yeah my grandma had twins before ultrasounds and she knew it was twins. She said it was either two or it was one baby with four arms and four legs lol I’m surprised the midwives couldn’t tell tho, usually they can tell the position of the baby so you’d think they could tell there are two in there.

It is definitely possible to use a Doppler or more likely in their case stethoscope to hear multiple heartbeats or to feel the multiple sets of legs. But it is also common to have matching heartbeats or on two closer to the inside or both turned inside which makes things difficult.

Lizzie, your mom took a big risk with not letting her doctor know that she thought she was expecting twins - even if the first twin is delivered safely, the second twin may fail to turn and get stuck. That's why they encourage (in the UK at least) for epidurals if the lady wants to give birth naturally. That way, should things go awry, they've just got to top up the epidural for a caesarean section. This very scenario happened to a friend of mine - she went through labour, had her first baby then got rushed into the operating theatre to have her second. I can't remember if she had vaginal stitches to add to her abdominal ones. I really felt for her - she was sore everywhere.
