I’ve watched Precious and didn’t remember most of this.

I've never seen "Precious" and refused to see for all those reasons above. I didn't know all the scenes were that bad. Dave Chappelle had a similar joke that basically said Precious is all the worse things that can happen happening to one person. Ron is correct in some cases, but not all. 1)Halle Berry won her first Oscar playing a black woman who begins a sexual relationship with a racist White jail guard who escorted her husband (played by Puffy) to death row. On top of that, her son dies after getting hit by a car. 2) Denzel won his first Oscar playing a slave in "Glory"(great film btw) and his second playing a dirty cop in "Training Day". 3) Monique won her first Oscar for "Precious". Here are examples that don't support his POV: 1) Viola Davis for her role in the screen adaptation of the August Wilson play, "Fences"(great playwright) 2)Whoopi Goldberg for her role playing a psychic in the film "Ghost" starring the late Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore 3) Jamie Foxx in his film "Ray"(biopic) 4) Forest Whitaker for his role as an African dictator in the "Last King of Scotland".(a biopic) 5) Louis Gossett Jr. for his role in "An Officer and a Gentlemen" 6) Cuba Gooding Jr. didn't win an Oscar for "Radio". He was right about "Precious" but the set up was off, factually. So called "good" Oscar awards: Sidney Poitier (Lillies in the field), Morgan Freeman (Million $ baby, not DMD), Cuba Gooding (Jerry McGuire not Radio), Woopi Goldberg (Ghost), Lou Gossett (Officier and a Gentleman), Jamie Foxx (Ray), Denzel (Glory was not a "slave" role), Daniel Kaluuya (as Fred Hampton), and Mahershala Ali (won 2, Moonlight and Green book)...there are probably some I'm forgetting...more than enough to outweigh the "bad" ones, imo. Let's not forget "In the Heat of the Night" and other movies with black leads/cast won best picture. The oscars snubbed Color Purple in the 1980s (over 10 nominations and not a single win) likely for the controversial content (incest, abuse, etc.) and some were upset...maybe the academy learned their lesson from that experience. Lastly, if I was betting man...Jeffrey Wright is winning best actor this year. American Fiction is one of the better movies I've seen in a while.
