Do brand new guitars need a setup? 

How much is normal for a telecaster style? I just got one sent and the A & G strings buzz every fret almost

@LollarPops agreed. Mine will do the set up and then tell me to bring it back after a little while it adjusts to my house humidity or weather or whatever. No extra charge. Just wants to get it right.

Set up, is a matter of personal preference. That said, it'd be nice if fender and Gibson would finish the fretwork on their necks before they leave the factory, as we certainly PAY FOR IT!

Even if they do set up the guitar perfectly, as soon as it gets shipped somewhere, there will be slight changes to things depending on if it was shipped with care, difference of temperature and humidity, etc... a string insturment is always changing slightly based on the environment and use. That's why it's best to learn how to make adjustments yourself so you can not only fix intonation issues and buzz issues but also make your guitar feel the way you like it.

The fretwork should be done by the manufacturer. That's wack

But you can buy the most expensive strat and have it set up terribly, and it will definitely play like the cheapest strat

@derwienernuts yes that is true a good setup makes a big difference it doesn't take much to make a great guitar play like crap.
