Sure they do they’re like kids that sometimes choose to ignore you. Mine respond when I call them by their names. ❤️♥️😻😘🥰 I think they call it selective hearing syndrome.

@@MaineCoonDaily Cats have more to do than we think. Plotting plans about world domination for example. Or penalize you for giving the wrong food they didn`t order from you. Sometimes they communicate with their ancestors, staring at the same point for minutes without moving. Then they have to protect their food providers against predators their humans fear, like little mice or loud bugs. Not to forget the hard work of looking great and adorable, thinking about acting sweeter for better food or more treats... You see, a cat`s life is full of challenges and hard work 😻
All of mine do and also seem to know each other’s name. If I say one’s name sometimes one of the other kitties will look at them. One time I called Fluffy for something and my daughter asked me a question about her school work and I forgot I called him. About five minutes later I heard a loud meow and Fluffy was sitting there expectantly waiting for me to acknowledge him 😂 You called me and are now ignoring me!

Though much depends on; who's calling & why, the time of day, weather, season, reason, date, month, day of the week, which way the wind's blowing, if it's blowing, attitude (yours), cattitude (ours), if we've eaten, what we ate, when we dined, was it snacks, noms or a meal, how many naps we've had, where we napped & with whom. Also, what you're wearing (ugh), your tone, your hair, your shoes (shudder... hairless human toes can be so off putting), you (just you), whether we're thinking, staring into space or just being zen... Ah, so many reasons! You get it it. Really the question you should be asking (NOT do we know our NAMES... PFFFTTT!!!) is: WHY aren't we answering YOU. Clearly this is your problem, not ours. Never has been, never will be, no, nope, uh uh, nei. You got it? --👑😽🌹HRH Rosie (and yes, that IS just one of OUR many, many names.
