Do Coturnix Quail Get Broody? Quail Sitting on Her Eggs - Will They Hatch? 

I have used Blue-kot on my injured chickens before. Would it be ok to use on quail? If not, what do you use & recommend? I am into natural healing herbs, plants & such. Things like making Jewelweed (a wild plant that grows here on our creek bank) salve for itchy insects bites & poison oak & ivy. I'll be researching to see if there's anything natural that can be used on quail. Hope your injured birds heal well. Good video 👍

I have been lucky and only had 1 instance of injury to quail and it was a very aggressive male who attacked both males and females I used blue Kote and they healed great Coturnix are tough and heal easily these were my first group of celedon quail no problems with any of the other groups . What do you do with your quail in the winter all mine have to be outside in Minnesota

I would suggest you split your doors in half for less escaped birds. It offers better control.

What products do you use in caring for open wounds?

Egg cartons are expensive, I’d love some labels that also have a spot for me to write my customers name on for refills. PS: I’m a member of the computer-less crowd, I use my smartphone for all my computer needs so I don’t have the luxury of printing my own labels on an Avery template.

A day late and a dollar short actually a few years late but I'm totally here for the tips and tricks from someone else who has a snowy winter I'm in Maine so I was so excited to find someone from a town that I knew in a state that I knew had a comparable freaking winter. Are you a fan of bluekote for injuries I have pet rats (I actually decided to keep quail because of the size of the eggs and the ease of boiling individual eggs for my pet rats lake watching them run around with a little football) and I got familiar with it with them and with cattle and I found that a lot of people recommended it with the birds I'm only a couple years into quail so I figured I'd ask a few other more learned individuals. I know they don't advise medicated stuff blue coat being a wound coating I wondered if it differed Do you recommend the solar lights for winter for outdoor coops? And the solar fans for the summer? Are you giving mealworms for extra protein and do you do any other supplemental people food or insects other than the basic grain and calcium? Just try to learn what everyone else is up to. I have found that if you put the eggs in a little felt or fleece pouch so they can't see the eggs but they're in the fabric they will fight to sit on that little scrap of fabric someone will always be intentionally incubating them without knowing their eggs inside

A trick I learned to curb fighting in newly introduced birds is to temporarily remove all birds from the coop new and old put them all in a temporary enclosure for about 15 minutes or so, put everybody back in coup. This breaks the original birds teratoritoal thinking about the coup and seeing the newbies as invaders. Has worked pretty well for me there will always be problems with males being bouncy or nippy tho 1 male to every 4 or 5 females is a good ratio. Love your videos helped me learn to butcher and cook my quail properly. It's all about good animal husbandry.

Do botton quail sit on their eggs

New quail owner. My birds are just over 2 weeks old. I've used heat lamp since they've hatched. Regulating current temp between 80-85 F. Birds fully feathered in a garage. Safe to get rid of heat lamps? Fall Temps expected this weekend.

Man be sure not to forget the door open!! So I had a guy come buy to buy few quail and I open the door forgetting to close the latch,5 got out and when I returned to give them water I found them all spread out on the ground. What I find funny is that they didn’t go all too far from where their cage was

I just hatched my first babies! I got 13 out of 19 eggs to hatch. I'm so addicted to raising birds especially these jumbo quail. Thanks for all of the interesting things on your channel. I'm learning a lot.

My five year old started calling our 5 week old roo Gooey Bear. We bought 6 chicks to start keeping quail for eggs and meat and some will have to keep some inside as pets.

one thing I have a noticed is if I ever I tried to add a tuxedo quail into a flock with jumbos the jumbos tend to pick on them . i have 85 birds including button quail they live in a outdoor aviary and LOVE it. And they love to talk to my pheasant in the flight pen across from them ... quail are not good mommas..lol

Subscribed and liked! I may be experiencing overcrowding in my cage. Overcrowding can cause feather pecking and even cannibalism. It is important to provide adequate space for each member of the flock to eat and drink. Failure to do so can encourage competition that may lead to cannibalism and cause more-dominant birds to keep others away from feed and water. Curious, were you able to tell if the injured ones were male or female?

Being self sufficient and not depending on anyone but myself to feed my family is a dream of mine and in the works. I find that raising quail for meat has literally been one of the best thing we have done, and we are new to this. Having fresh meat when you otherwise would not have a meal, is a blessing. The struggle is real sometimes. Thank you for the videos because this is the only way some of us are able to learn.

Kenny thanks for all you do. I watch all your videos because I’m new to this and your setup is basically same as mine. I just had some fighting also and I have 2 makeshift hospitals set up. I found the bad guy and removed HIM. I’d love to win the labels for my 6 year old daughter. She helps me with all our bird. She has chickens and ducks I do the turkey and quail. She loves the babies I got from K Dale. I appreciate you giving me heads up with them. I got some beautiful colors. Again thank you .
