Do God and science contradict each other?

Does religion (God) and science contradict one another? Can religion and science coexist? What about evolution, DNA, the big bang theory? For some reason, we have the idea that it has to be either God - OR - science, as if one contradicts the other, as if one disproves the other, as if they are two opposing forces at battle, and only one can win. But if there is a God, and God is truth, then truth could never contradict science, and if anything, science should lead us to God, and never away.

I have a science background, a medical career as a veterinarian, a Masters in Theology, and finishing a PsyD while is semiretirement. From that perspective you are so correct. Wrote a paper regarding how science and theology are not incompatible but must, if pursued without agendas come to the same ultimate conclusions. I call science a form of general revelation and argue that theology and science should be mutually informative.
@BlacksmithTWD

As a Catholic you are obliged to adhere to the dogma concerning the relationship of science and scripture as introduced by Thomas Aquinas, so obviously then there is no conflict. It's unfortunate that so few people seem to know about this christian dogma when talking about christianity and science.

An interesting thing I remember coming across is that the constants are actually fluctuating, so what we thought as constants are not constant. But i could be wrong since there seems to be a lot of backlash to it.

A priest once told me that religion explains what God does and science explains how God does it. I love that explanation because it simply means that religion and science complement each other.
@ArKritz84
@ArKritz84 11 месяцев назад
That presupposes the existence of a god. It doesn't bother you that this explanation "works" with every mutually exclusive god ever conceived, and then only if you squint hard enough at every scientific field you try to reconcile with your god of choice?

Depends on what religion it is, for example the book of Genesis which is followed by Islam and Christianity (I think Judaism?) has a big flaw in it. It says that the Earth and everything is created within 7 days, many religious fanatics just blow this away with "oh it's symbolic we dont know what days actually means" but if you have read Genesis it clearly says ” And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day. " - 1 Genesis 3:5. Theists immediately jump to the conclusion that its not literal because they know how fucking ridicolous it is.😊

@@7sGalaxy there’s also another fallacy that this video is implying but not outright saying… it’s the either or fallacy. Basically it’s the argument that because one thing isn’t true that automatically makes the other one true… you either like dogs or you hate dogs, When there could be an endless sea of options… I could also be ok with dogs, I could think some dogs are cute, I could hate other dogs, I could be allergic to dogs but think they’re cute. Just because we happen to live in this complicated world doesn’t mean their either is a god or their isn’t… especially considering his (guy in the video) conclusion is endless… could their have been multiple gods? Would if it was a non conscious god, intelligent but unaware kinda like AI almost… could it not have been us who created the universe but have no memory of it? Would if the universe is an entity and we just don’t know it? But also think about it, a wind breeze we know came from nature itself, Not an intelligent being… so why is it ok to assume that the universe came from an intelligent being? Just because it’s so difficult to comprehend that this wasn’t made for us? A lot of people being up the argument of “well we live in a house so it’s safe to assume someone made the house, would it not be the same for the earth?” No because look we can tell this house was made by humans because well we have evidence to support it… we have seen construction workers build before… we know the stuff in our house is man made… it’s very ovbiously made for us to live in we have a sink and place to clean ourselves and is conveniently designed for us by humans. The earth isn’t, the earth is dangerous, pandemics, hurricanes, snow storms, earthquakes, floods, thunder, Volcanoes, war, fire, lack of food(so many issues with the agriculture industry) famine, ect… laying on the floor is not ideal or comfortable, living in 109 degree weather(like we did earlier this summer) is not ideal for a human… neither is living in negative degree weather… it almost implies as if we adapted to this environment rather than it adapted to us by a god. I personally believe they come to this conclusion that it must have been a god because life is so continent, euphoric, and they have this sense of “it has to have meaning or a reason”, a sense of feeling special almost. Because we’re unuiqe doesn’t mean we had a creator. There’s a unique rock probably on an island with minerals and chemical compounds that aren’t found anywhere else in the galaxy…. Does that make that rock special? To us it does but does that mean it had to have had a creator? It’s such a. Weird conclusion to end up at esp considering it’s unscientific to jump to conclusions esp when the conclusion has so many possible options. That’s my opinion I remember being a tween and also questioning my beliefs…

Second, life didn't come from a sludge puddle, but formed from chemicals deep underneath the ocean in hydrothermal vents. So, as a real short version: 1. Fine-tuning is absolutely not supported by most physicists for the notion that the physical constants could be different in the first place is undemosntrated. Unless you can show tuning is possible and atop that that our universe's set of constants is somehow unlikely then any talk of tuning is moot. 2. It's not a leap of faith to go with the more parsimonious option, and it's always going to be more parsimonious to avoid an assumption about there being some unknown being using unknown means to "tune" the universe. If you come home to a cold house, you start by checking if the windows were left open rather than presuming the ice faeries are out to get you. 3. Your bit on DNA is inaccurate; most of the DNA in you isn't necessary or even functional. 4. Talking about it "all just evolved together on its own somehow" kind of suggests you don't know how evolution works. Is natural selection really a "somehow" to you? 5. Evolution in fact does explain how thought and consciousness arises. Love is a matter of brain chemistry and has evolutionary advantages, other creatures demonstrate varying levels of thinking and self-awareness including other Simians that can recognize themselves in the mirror and are conscious of their own mortality, and so forth. 6. Attributing such things to soul isn't an explanation, it's waving your hands at all the things you don't have an explanation for and shouting "magic!" 7. You're correct that evolution does not say anything about how life came to be - but you're apparently unaware that abiogenesis, the field that does tackle that topic, has shown that all the stuff of life can arise, associate, and assemble spontaneously. All the mechanisms of life have been shown to be able to arise from base chemistry. 8. And lastly, as an aside, if you really want to make the "doesn't it make more sense that life came from life?" argument, you run into a rather basic problem: your God is not alive in the biological sense. Your God isn't made of cells, doesn't metabolize, doesn't reproduce, is unchanging, and so forth; if life comes from life, your God clearly can't have been the source of life, for it is not.
@imbeggar
@imbeggar 3 года назад
Thanks for your comment. 1. Most physicists agree in the highly precise “tuned” nature of the physical constants, but as I say in the video, they do not agree on how those numbers came to be so precise. Many quantum physicists who are worth their salt conclude there is a super intelligence behind it. 2. Um. I think you just proved my point. You would think “someone” (with intellect and will) left the window open. 3. Just because we hold, at least for now, that most of our DNA is unnecessary or unused (junk DNA), does not negate the fact that it is still a coded language. Where does coding and language come from? 4. I think you missed the point. 5. I am aware of that explanation, it is just another theory. 6. Im not shouting magic, Im simply positing a logical solution, one held by most of the greatest thinkers over the past 5000 years. But yes, there is no physical proof that there is, or is not, a soul, it is beyond the reach of physical science. 7. Abiogenesis is highly speculative theory that has never been demonstrated. 8. True! But we're not talking about biology. we're talking about life - the force or energy that animates our biology. No one can explain its origins. It simply makes sense that it would come from an eternal source. peace.
@studyingcereviciae
@studyingcereviciae 3 года назад
@@imbeggar 1. You are simply incorrect. There is no means of even concluding a "super intelligence" could be behind it in the first place, and it is absolutely not the majority view among physicists. Again, no one has demonstrated a means by which universal constants could be "tuned" in the first place much less provided other universes to compare ours to to show it's at all unusual or unlikely. Any talk of "tuning" is baseless, pointless speculation without such. 2. You have missed the point of the metaphor, so I shall reiterate: it requires no leap of faith to hold the most parsimonious option. With a cold house, a window being open is more parsimonious than ice faeries. Why? Because we're quite familiar with people leaving windows open and not at all familiar with ice faeries. In the same way, we're quite familiar with a universe working via naturalistic laws and not at all familiar with anything "tuning" the universe, period. The latter demands numerous assumptions the former does not. 3. In short? DNA is not a language; it's a useful analogy for teaching undergrads but is not accurate when we get into depth. The physical properties of RNA and DNA determine their characteristics; they do not hold not arbitrary meanings in the manner of languages. In language, any word can refer to any object, but that does not hold true for genetics; the genetic code that maps codons to proteins could be changed but doing so would change the meaning of all such sequences and cannot create new arbitrary meanings for all DNA sequences. And as icing on the cake, the word frequencies of all natural languages follows Zipf's Law, while DNA does not. As to where it comes from? Chemistry. It's all about the physical properties of the chemicals themselves, and there's no reason that their interactions could not arise naturally. 4. I most certainly did not. You either knowingly made a strawman or are unaware of the mechanisms of evolution. Why else would you use the word "somehow" but to show you're either unaware or implying the explanation isn't sufficient? 5. On the one hand, if you are aware of how evolution explains the development of brains, consciousness, love, and so forth, then saying that "evolution cannot explain these things" in your video is simply lying. On the other hand, I must now question if you understand what the word "theory" means, for I suspect you're misusing it. 6. No, you are shouting magic for you don't even have a theory. You have no model, you have no viable explanation, you have no solution; you aren't solving anything by saying "it's a soul!", for unless you have a Theory of Souls that explains how souls work and why souls work it doesn't actually amount to anything at all. That's why it's equivalent to saying "it's magic" or "a wizard did it" or "faeries are responsible"; it's not an explanation, it's an excuse. And to be blunt, claiming it's "what the greatest thinkers thought" is a fallacious argument from authority at best, for there has been no one that can speak on souls at any time in human history with any authority at all. Literally no one can show that they exist in the first place, much less provide a model for how they work. Five-thousand years of never knowing anything does not a valid position make. 7. Again, you are simply incorrect. While still relatively young by comparison, everything I sated about abiogenesis has been firmly demonstrated. At this point, the consensus position is that life arose via chemical abiogenesis; we've demonstrated the stuff of life can arise, assemble, interact, and give rise to the mechanisms of life spontaneously via chemistry. And to be blunt it is awfully telling that you would assert that most physicists agree with you (and again, they do not) yet ignore the consensus among biochemists. 8. There is no mystical "life force or energy" that animates our body. That idea is called "Vitalism", and it was disproved way, way back in the day; continuing to push it at this point is a century out of date at best and pseudoscience at worst. Feel free to google it at your leisure. To the point then, there is no need for an eternal source for "life force" when such a thing simply does not exist in the first place.

If we went from nothing to something because of a god, then how did that god go from nothing to something, how was it created. Also even if it is theoretically possible for a god to exist, it doesn’t mean that religion is a good thing that benefits mankind, In fact, it does the opposite which we can see in Israel and Palestine as of recent.

A) science doesn’t prove or disprove the idea of a supreme “God” being. B) nothing so far can “prove” or “disprove” the idea of a supreme “God” being. C) The thought that “We exist in the perfect and exclusive known parameters for existence, therefore those parameters must have been met by a supreme being” is ignoring so many things. First of all, it’s suspiciously similar to circular reasoning- *God must exist (claim) because we exist in such absurd circumstances! (supporting evidence)* - Our existence is not supporting evidence for the existence of a “God”. It has equal potential to be unrelated. Secondly, the odds of there being an infinite number of other universes is an extremely easy explanation, and i’ve heard the argument “But the chances of us naturally occurring is *[insert tiny %]* so it’s illogical to assume that we would occur naturally” and this argument is so annoying because our existence proves that theory equally as correct as it does in proving it was “God” (not at all), but the difference is that our existence does prove that within the parameters of our universe, life is possible, and therefore it doesn’t matter how unlikely it is, because it already happened. Although you may realize that last point doesn’t hold up at all if you believe in “God” because for you “God” created nature and nature created humans. I just wanted to add that in to show how your outlook before approaching information always matters more to you than the actual information, because if you’re a blank slate most of the “proof” wouldn’t be considered proof of anything because it goes both ways. D) I’ve been writing “*Supreme “God” Being*” and “”*God*”” because it doesn’t matter what god you follow, because any and all proof that proves a supreme being doesn’t say anything about your god’s abstract moral values. many of the Christian God’s morals make sense just from a civilization standpoint and a god decreeing them is redundant and completely separate from the idea of a being creating the universe. If a God exists it does nothing to help prove that *your* god exists. A monkey with a typewriter and an infinite amount of time typing will eventually type every idea, book, script, and event that ever happened, in chronological order, but that will take a finite amount of time for it to do, so it doesn’t truly need an infinite amount of time, only as much time as it takes the hypothetical monkey. This can be used in an argument that if it is possible for humans to naturally occur, and the universe will last for a theoretically infinite amount of time, then humans will eventually exist, and they will exist in a finite amount of time.

@@Akkodha. I used to be a strong ashiest myself, even an apostate, I'm not trying to prove the Abrahamic God but I'm proving that there is a God, But anyways, Where's the proof that there was an infinite amount of time? Explain how we went from something to nothing, and there is 0 evidence that there was a time of something always existing, it isn't possible for NOTHING to go to something now many physicists agree with this statement that there HAD to be a beginning to EVERYTHING, mark twain himself believed that this universe had to be a work of an intelligent mind. There is also 0 proof that there is a multiverse, and even if there was there would still have to be a point of Nothing even if you were to say that some form of matter existed forever (which there is no proof of), there would still need to be a cause for that matter to come to exist, it's the law of cause and effect for physical things, not supernatural things such as God himself. The universes code never shifts too, so explain the fact that the universe is so perfectly tuned and even a slight change in the code of the universe would cause vital things to not be able to exist INCLUDING hydrogen and life itself. The Hypothetical monkey that you are talking about cannot change his "typewriter" meaning that some things are just impossible to print, such as an apple or another monkey or print every single type of vegetable known to humankind, so that hypothetical monkey can only do things to an extent. There was never an infinite amount of time for something to create everything, like I said the universes code NEVER changes so it CANNOT create anything. "But for with God nothing shall be impossible." - Luke 1:37 By the way to mention, humans share 99% of their DNA with monkeys, if the 1% difference in the DNA is causing such a big difference within our bodies, such as going from this ape that seemingly acts off it's own interest and survival to thinking, reasoning, moral possessing, art making, technology revolutionizing, new emotion possessing, culture forming beings. And the beginning of life.. It just came from a pile of protons and neutrons rapidly expanding itself into a universe that made these Magnificent conscious living things, that started off as this well, sludge, and eventually Evolved (Which I don't discredit evolution at all since there can be changes done to the body as the body adapts to things. But not entirely transform itself. ( There was a scientist in Germany that conducted this research on flies to test evolution with special chemicals and formulas etc. to outrageously and tremendously speed up evolution , the only form of evolution that it showed, was adapting to it's surroundings, not turning into a different type of species.) Now as an illustration, depict in your mind Google, a engine that takes millions of computers, workers, servers, and billions of sets of code to run google, but it takes a perfectly arranged set of code to run you, a far more superior, complex, and intelligent being. Now just depict looking at all that code and saying that it just well, eventually scrambled itself together, unreasonable and quite stupid am I right? Every piece of work requires a builder. A thing that proves that God's intent was for humans to enjoy life, is that every single place you look on the earth that is NATURE, not manmade, is astonishing. But even if the Abrahamic God doesn't exist, there is still a God out there, one that let the Good, the bad, and the ugly exist, but most importantly let life exist. It's come to my attention that when people use the word God then people automatically jump to the conclusion that they are Automatically referring to the Abrahamic God (The God in the bible.)

Well yeah i would say the big bang isnt really a "pro-atheist" concept at all, or at the very least it doesn't help the argument along, it simply pushes the question of "so where did all that stuff that made the universe come from?" back, and at the end of the day science cant answer that question because the point suggests that the answer lies beyond our universe.

LeMaitre strongly disavowed any connection between his ideas and "Intelligent Design." Scientists of the 20th century never opposed the Big Bang because they opposed "Intelligent Design," religion never entered into it, they were simply skeptical as scientists should always be until a new idea is proved by conclusive evidence. Creationists were strongly against the Big Bang for decades until one of them figured out a way to use it as a self-serving argument for "Intelligent Design." God is not a big man in the sky. God is an uncreated Creator. He is not affected by time, space or matter. If He is affected by time, space and matter then He is not God. Time, space and matter is a continuum and all of them have to come into existence at the same instance. Because if there were matter and no space...where would you put it? If there were matter and space but no time, when would you put it? You cannot have time, space and matter independently to come into existence simultaneously. The Bible answers this in ten words ... In the beginning (time) God created the heaven (space) and earth (matter) (genesis 1:1) You have time, space and matter, the trinity of trinities. Time is past, present and future. Space is height, width, and depth and matter are solid., liquid and gas. Therefore the God who created them has to be outside of them. If He's limited by time then He's not God. The God who created us and this universe is outside of the universe. He's above it, beyond it, in it, through it and therefore not affected by it. The concept that a spiritual force cannot have any effect on a material body then how can we explain things like love, emotions, hated, envy, jealousy, and rationality. If our brain is just a random collection of chemicals that formed by chance over billions of years then how on earth can you trust your own reasoning processes and the thoughts that you think? If we could fit an infinite God in our three-pound brain then He would not be worth worshipping. It 's called having Faith 🙏

You don't know how something works, therefor god. Nonsense. You are defining what god MUST be. Is that not just a tad arrogant? Random collection formed by chance? So evolution is out of the question. You're telling me what god has to be, what he has to do, where he has to be. Damn you're sure of yourself. You even claim to know his location. Magic number three. Shhheeessshhh, why not seven? You've even decided gods volume as you know where he will and won't fit. If you knew his mass we could work out his density. You decide if he's worth worshipping or not based on his volume. So you place a limit on the size of god. Thought he was a god. Could be smaller than a plank length if he wanted but you wouldn't worship him then because he would be too small to be worth worshipping. So you withhold your worship based on your assumptions of the volume of a non-perceptible object? I hope you're young enough to learn that there is only one thing, reality. You've got it all worked out, size, shape, age and limitations. How very humble of you. I've never seen you but I can describe, down to the last one, how many hairs you have. A much lesser claim than yours. Sorry m8, I "believe" and have "faith" in logic. Not last years amended edition of the one true word. How can there be more than one version? Are they all true. You can't just ignore reason because it's inconvenient. I believe in flying penguins. Jet propelled flying penguins. Prove me wrong. I have the same evidence that you do, even more. I know penguins are real, I've seen one. It's not a personal attack on you, just trying to observe reality. And, please, don't kill your children because you have an auditory hallucination. Have you heard of ergot? Worth a look if not. It's 'independently' interesting substance and has much food for thought. Just one question please. Can god create a rock so heavy that he can't lift it? Crikeys, I'm jibbering on like a stuck record. Sorry. Keep well m8. 😀

but god said that he created man based off of himself,right? that means he is a man. and also,don't you think it's comedic how just because you cant explain something,e.g. " God is not a big man in the sky. In the beginning (time) God created the heaven (space) and earth (matter) (genesis 1:1)", you come to the conclusion that,"oh ok so a god had to make it" what type of logic is that?

Heavily disagreed with the video. At first, asking how is our world constants so perfect seems unreasonable. No matter if this big bang was only one or multiple across some separate dimensions. To me it would be survivorship bias as we simply wouldn't be able to ask that question in a world that has the wrong setting. Then same goes to the question about physical bodies. To my point of view, it's not that our system was created this way, it's how the matter decided it's physically most efficient for it to exist, and it's hilarious to hear that the natural way of things is literally _separate entity in the world created by someone._ The next point seemed to prove that our feelings and mind came from the ultimate mind and couldn't possibly begin from "sludge puddle", jokingly showing this as if it's truly impossible and absurd. Seriously? It's ridiculous how both this and previous question sound self-explanatory if to put the higher entity in them as an answer. I've heard some philosophical proofs from the history about the existence of god and there, it's exactly how the argumentation was built, it's not giving a reason, it's that god is self-explanatory reason for everything. And finally, what I think is that humans are who created the concept of god. It only exists in our mind as a way to have faith in something, and it came from the damn "sludge puddle" as you pleased to name, well, the evolution. *And yet you dare to say you are ok with evolution.* Of course, science is not a panacea, but atleast it has questions, it has methods and ways to grow. What religion does is it burns peo.. oh, it's 21st century, it does nothing, except for adapting to science that is rapidly supplanting it with new knowledge. Not a choice, but some common sense for me.

Very cool video that posits many important questions. As a physics student myself (although I am certainly not an authority in this regard), I am deeply curious about the nature of these topics and have spent plenty of time pondering them. I would like to respond to some of the claims made in the video: 1. It seems to be somewhat of a conjecture to assume what a "non-physical super intellect" would choose to do. Personifying something and assuming its qualities based on what we think is sensible for it is somewhat arrogant on our part. 2. Of the few scientists mentioned in the website (one of which is an engineer), only one is absolute in his belief whilst the other two only hint towards the possibility of a God. While many scientists nod towards a belief or at least a possibility of a god of a deistic nature, very few are religious in the traditional sense (a God that grants miracles/answers prayers). Where God and science do not conflict, any possible belief is trivial beyond explaining the origins of the universe. 3. The fine-tuning argument is an elegant and common one, but it has its holes. To say there would be "no universe as we know it" if a physical constant changed is obvious; our universe is defined by its constants, and would not be the same if they were different. A Darwinian way of looking at the universe could be argued in this regard. Just as one could look at a human body and point towards how perfect it seems in respect to the conditions of the earth, we can do the same of the universe. Doing so, however, is akin to shooting an arrow in a random direction and drawing the bullseye around where it lands after. It is not that the universe is finely tuned for us, it is that we are finely tuned for the universe through natural selection. Of course we do not know of the origins of the universe in a similar manner (as the creator of the video points out very well - god/multiverse theory both take a leap of faith). I'm not sure where the creator found that "most physicists agree that it didn't all happen by chance" as the dialogues I have seen have been somewhat contrary. Those that can even assign a probability must be proponents of multiverse theory, a leap of faith beyond the bounds of current science. The attitudes I have seen (apologizes for the personal anecdote) is that we simply do not know, but we should try and keep working to find out. The beauty of science is admitting what we don't know, and instead of providing answers without backing we work towards getting to them. 4. The google code/DNA argument is of a similar nature to the infamous watchmaker argument. There are many great rebuttals against intelligent design on the internet, so I will ignore that for now. I find it interesting, however, that the creator nods towards believing in evolution only to question it in this regard. 5. Humans becoming intelligent, self-aware life forms is not due to an intelligent creator, but the contingencies within evolution. Asking "what makes more sense" is irrelevant, as what makes sense to us can often be the opposite of what is true. It made sense that the earth was the center of the universe to Ptolemy and that there were four elements to Aristotle. My issue with this video is that despite doing a good job at pointing out where science and religion do not conflict, it does so with a confirmative bias. As Neil Tyson said, "If that's how you want to invoke your evidence for God, then God is an ever receding pocket of scientific ignorance that's getting smaller and smaller and smaller" To anyone that read this, thank you for taking the time. I would be happy to continue the discussion :) cheers

A (christian) friend recommended me this video. The both of us discuss mainly religion, and do so in good spirit. My comment is a mere summary of my answers on these questions, yet they are my answers. I do not proclaim this as truth, merely my opinion. First argument: false dichotamy (only an omnipresent being, or natural reasons) and my response to the fine tuning argument: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v8mJr4c66bs.html Second argument (especially at 5:55): "What if i told u god just existed... somehow". I assume that you believe in miracles, water into wine for example. Why is it that its hard to believe that DNA, which has taken hundreds of millions of years to be created, just cant be that complex and still be natural (evolved without divine influence)? Is God natural? Or is he simple to understand? Also while were at it, does something make it impossible for humanity to create something more complex then DNA? Given enough time ofcourse... Still, would that make human godlike? Third argument: mainly opposable thumbs, and sticking in groups ive heard. Im no biologist of any kind, so i cannot answer this with certainty. Furthermore, what makes 'sense' isnt neciserraly a great argument that its true. I am studying physics, and quantum mechanics is notoriously counterintuitive, it hardly makes 'sense', yet it has been proven time and again to be true. 4th argument (?): the big bang theory doesnt state that there was nothing, poof, something. This is the common media popularised idea, i also thought this was true at first. The big bang theory merely stated that when the universe was very young, it was very hot (yet there was something, which meand it doesnt exclude the big bounce theory FE). The hot soup expanded, making it less hot. Endquote: Max Planck was a genius physicist, yet did not promote christian or biblical views. Not saying this quote is wrong, merely saying that he speaks only for himself. Again, i do not intent to insult anyone or their philosophies, i do however notice logical fallacies in their thinking. I myself have probably made the same mistakes, even in this comment for i am merely human.
@aguyontheinternet8436
@aguyontheinternet8436 Год назад
In response to the first argument, he pointed out that there were other ways to think about the problem, and that they are equally valid. Although I can see problems with believing the world was made for us, I can also see the problems with believing it wasn't. And for the second argument, although he is more aggressive, especially at 5:55, he's basically trying to get the same point across. That you can believe in a higher power working with evolution to make something complex. For the third point, we have completely detached from your usual science and moved into philosophy, _(why can I think)_ so a biologist would be hard pressed to help you here. And for the fourth point, the Big Bang theory does propose that the universe originated from an extremely hot and dense state, called a singularity. However, it does not specify what existed before or at the moment of the singularity. The theory does not provide a detailed explanation of the initial conditions or the cause of the Big Bang itself. Honestly, it was difficult to break down your sentence on the Big Bang, but I think everything else makes sense.

Science cant prove alot of evolution and how the universe came to be, but thats just because we havent had enough time to figure all of it out. If you look at science 500 years ago, or just even 100 years ago, you can see that a lot of their scientific beleifs do not corrolate with modern science.

Ur first argument is survivorship bias, the universe HAS to be perfect for us to be observing. The winner of the jackpot could be sitting there saying “why me?” and then decide it’s because he’s special and it’s for a reason. The second argument about google is explained fairly well within evolutionary theory, time + small changes + natural selection. The last part about where does nothing come from is a fine point, although it’s not a positive claim for God and if it was, it wouldn’t be for the Christian God. Simply saying we don’t know would be the most intellectually honest answer. Finally, as someone who used to believe, aside from what I thought was proof god was real, that I later realised wasn’t honest, my belief was all based on a few “person experience” which later I came to see a pattern with unintentionally manipulative environments with music / speaking and played on emotions of shame. (Read up on placebo) Great quality video visually tho

This is an absolute survivors paradox. Obviously we see that our universe is perfect for life because otherwise we couldn’t recognize this fact. In countless other universes or other iterations it might not be, but we can’t measure these or get a sense of scale because there is no life in these universes to check the data. Also in 7:20 you throw the idea of nothingness around as if it's real or proven. However, with modern day physics, (quantum field theory) the idea of 'nothingness' is highly improbable, if not impossible. Even the 'start' of the universe is a heavily debated concept. Imo, I think the more you look into the scientific concepts that try and explain our universe the more the randomness of our universe makes sense. We have infinite universes with infinite designs. Our universe is just a chance of one in a billion trillion, but this absolutely does not mean it was by any way designed. In infinity, everything happens sooner or later.

As a biologist I'm a bit disappointed. Content is persuasive and interesting until the end. Here are several points. ERVs or endogenous retroviral elements in our genome and the same ERVs found in a chimpanzee's genome means that we evolved from a common ancestor. There is no other conclusion you can come to. Besides there are many other points of evidence that supports this conclusion...no need to list them all here. Another point- the RNA code is degenerate. In other words the third nucleotide of many of the codons can be different and still produce the same amino acid and therefore the same protein. The genome needn't be perfect therefore. Also, by virtue of the process of natural selection produced by natural factors such as competition, resource availability, mate availability, etc...pressures come to bear on a population that changes the frequency of alleles in a population. That's what evolution is. Eventually small changes in perhaps mating signals (pheromone composition let's say) can lead to rapid isolation even witout geographical barriers. Sympatric evolution is a reality- the species diversity in Lake Victoria came about in less than 20,000 years for example. Evidence from cyt b studies and mito studies shows this. In plants polyploidy can lead to very rapid changes in just a few generations. About 35% of our flowering plants have been produced this way- essentially nondisjunction during meiosis I. With respect to the BB new JWT evidence is shocking. Perhaps we will discover evidence for Penrose's new theory and string theory will be revised. Maybe there are trillions upon trillions upon trillions of Universes and billions forming each second. After all nature abhors a vacuum. Who knows?? Nature is just so shockingly weird. Everyday I learn a little bit more and am even more perplexed. But at least I'm never bored.

I gave this video the benefit of the doubt and I regret it, there really are no new arguments that come out of theology. It starts out with just a bad fine tuning arguement and then became insultingly disingenuous by the end

System is the problem 🏡 Our Life should be around these Great Qualities. 1, Show all living creatures; all the love and kindness as much as you can. 2, Only try to be honest with yourself. If you try to be honest with others, you will get into big trouble soon or later. 3, Aim only one target at a time; otherwise you are chasing two rabbits and you will miss both. So, the reason behind it. Have one powerful reason and never ever give up the one you want the most. 4, Don't try to be good person only but be the powerful person. We will grow to be the one or we will die. There is no other choice. 5, Always learn and look for to improve something your life. 6, You are not alone. Love and faith the high power reduces unnecessary stress in life. But never completely rely on it. 7, Success and happiness are the byproducts of our usefulness. So, always increase the possibility of success. 8, Life is not going to be easy. Because of our unnecessary things. Eliminate all the unnecessary things as much as you can by organising yourself well with the environments. 9, Never believe anything without the proper evidences. 10, Always try to give more than you take. Because it is dignity/ character of the divinity within you. 🌎 As long as people continue to see themselves as separate from everything else, they lend themselves to being completely enslaved. Success depends on how well we relate to everything around us. Joy comes from that bliss of connectedness. I believe that unarmed truth and love will have the final word in reality. To love; you should have good heart. I am a good person until I see a person better than my standard of goodness. Being good is the progress towards a worthy cause. Love is God. Whoever lives in love, lives forever. How selfish it is to try to keep something forever? Love is all about nourishing, nurturing, sharing and expanding the love within you for all. The principle to which we adhere to is that we have kindness of love at heart for the whole of mankind. As long as there is the unnecessary differences within us; we can not live peacefully so we have to eliminate all the unnecessary differences among us so we can love all. People abilities may vary but not there true love. If we love a person/ God for a reason then we love the reason but not the person. No reason is the reason to love the person because true love never fails. So do not compare or measure the true love as first or the last but love all truly. If you love people truly then you can understand people. If you don't love then you don't understand people at all. People are controlled by system why? The Cyclical Consumption is the current economy all over the World. It is making the scarcity problems of the earth finite resources to deteriorate day by day. Current Monetary System is legalised theft. Real money is Gold and Silver. Scarcity gives the money more value. Real money won't lose it's value. When Governments stay away from Gold & Silver then very easy to transfer the wealth / resources to upper class the Rich (Corporatocracy) Elite. When the Governments are printing out more new fiat currency with reserve banks, our old currency is losing its purchasing power everyday. They are printing millions of currency everyday. All governments and laws are existing right now to transfer wealth to upper class the rich elite. The USA Government & other Governments are in many countries, bailed the investment banks & financial institutions in 2008 against the majority of the people. There is no democracy in any countries. Because of the Money System based on profits motive only above all else even humans lives and well-being. So, we do not have freedom to protect our values with the money so on. The violence, bankruptcy & all the negativities are build into the Monetary System of our society. All are owned (including ourselves) by Reserve Bank. Which is private cartel the corporation. So, in legal system, we are legally considered as chattel the properties. They make money in the capital markets with our birth certificates. They do not consider us as Humans. That's the truth. We are at the invisible war with the Elites (Corporatocracies). We have to fight for our Freedom. Resource Based Economy is the Solution. We have to declare the earth resources as the heritage of all the people of this world. So everyone has access to it. Please have your research about zeitgeist movement then you know the truth more. Truth About Health/Drugs Industry Because Of It Your Life At High Risk The drug industry is a 1/2 trillion dollars a year worldwide conglomerate. Almost 300 billions dollars just in North America. That is really big business. What would happen if everyone were well? There is no money in health. You see, good health makes a lot of sense but it doesn't make a lot of dollars. Because everything they do is toxic. Every drug they use, prescription drugs, all drugs are liver toxic, bar none. If you've had amalgam fillings put in your mouth by dentists. It is highly toxic. There's cancer because most of the chemos are themselves carcinogens. To view the tumor as the cancer and we know the tumor is not the cancer. The cancer industry is 200 billions dollars a year. The more work they get, the more profit there is. You have to dismantle; If the truth ever came out about what we would need to do. 30% of people of females in America are at risk of getting, will get cancer of the breast. The ones that are already dead have been grossly mistreated by the medical profession and by the government that supposedly is supposed to encourage free research and development of all possibilities. Why would medical doctors who studied medicine and practice medicine and are heavily funded by pharmaceutical companies why would they go and look into vitamins? That they never had the answer orthomolecular. And as more and more of our population start taking their health into their own hands, there's going to be even more and more of changes. It can't go on the way it is. The system is failing apart. We must make nutrition the primary prevention strategy for the population. You are what you eat. You are everything that you have ever done to yourself. The choices you make directly affect the outcome of your life. - (Food Matters Documentary in Netflix) 😊 Well, I truly love God. I am not religious but very spiritual person. So, I believe 1) Religion is the beliefs in someone experiences But spirituality is having my own experiences. The mainstream religions people promote religious ideology by giving guidelines and guide but In my spiritual life; I do not want anyone or anything between God and me to restrict my freedom to worship God. 2) We do not need any authorities to do good work. The god work is the good work always. In contrast; organised mainstream religions are claiming that they have the authorities to do God works as leaders so on. 3) God is not capable of doing wrong thing, change the past for us and create anything out of nothing for us. Nothing means not anything. So, even God is limited. The mainstream religious people believe that God is unlimited. 4) God wants us to take responsibilities for our righteousness life but not for all the consequences of our actions because they are continued to exist among us. So, How can god punish us for all our consequences? The mainstream religious people believe we are full of sins because of all our actions. 5) Freewill is an illusion. People always choose the perceived path of greatest pleasure. So, we do not have choices all the time. In contrast teachings of the mainstream religions are promoting people to do god's will always because we all have choices of freewill always. 6) We can not separate everything into groups. So, everything for good and evil and there's no success and failure for everything. If everything is real then real things can not be threatened. Once you come to understand that God/The Holy Spirit is in each of us, You will no longer need a Book to tell you how to live. Then why we need religious scriptures? The Virtue is the expression of the basic goodness in our actions. The Basic goodness is the fundamental worthiness of every individuals. We are worthy to God always in everything. 7) Beliefs in a cruel God makes a cruel man. No matter what; every living creatures has the right to live and What makes their life cheap? Everything depends on everything. Nothing too big or too small in value. We can not love and hate at the same time; Being a vegetarian means love without cruelty happily. The mainstream religious people are killing people and sacrificing animals in the name of God. They promote God's cruel punishments. The Punishment is endless for Sinners/Devil according to religious scriptures. But God is love always. Overcome hate with love. If all religions for peace, unity? No way. Because they are not for peace. 8) Well, The God gave us everything to go from moment to moment in our lives as we do our part and pray only to thank god then the Love is in progress. The Love is always for everyone. We are always worthy of the God's love. Our greatest fear is; not to be loved by anyone but we are all loved by someone. When we eliminate all our unnecessary differences among us then true peaceful life is possible with the true love. If we can't find the peace within ourselves then we will never find it anywhere else. 9) This is the Fight for independence and freedom of humanity to worship God freely without religious guide and guidelines to restrict us. Unnecessarily, We do not want third party controls over us in anything ; especially in spirituality. 10) Revive Survive Thrive. Sincerely, The Real Peacemaker against religious oppression. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HbvCxMfcKv4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pIJHJzDQcRM.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MyxbdmAnIcI.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wLzeakKC6fE.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P8vHa8zD7jY.html

As this video goes over, the "fine tunings" of the universe may prove that there is a creator, but why would he exist in the way that Catholics, Muslims, Hindus, or whoever, describes? I have an easy time believing there is a creator, but whether he cares about our lives, whether there are angels or an afterlife, and so on, are basically unbelievable to me at times.

Alright, 1. Science do not "disprove god" but to explain natural phenomena, god is simply not needed. Also ,altough they are NOT mutually exclusive, religion and science cannot mix together because some claim that religion make toward reality are unfalsifiable (like the existence of a soul or a deity) 2. At 3:07, who are you to say that if those number were not these specific one, life would be impossible? You have no idea what could be possible if those value where different. If where talking about us and us specifically, then yes, but that's specific to us. Just like everything happened because it could something different could happened with different variable. 3. 5:13 DNA, so google has been created by HUMAN with A GOAL, nature didn't have a goal and evolve from simple living cell WITHOUT any dna then with billions of year of slow evolution dna among other thing were created and refined over time to get to what it is today (to put it simply, if something was working it stayed, if not then it disappeared which can be done by itself) 4. 6:25 "evolution has no answer when it come to the origin of life" that's just a lie, there is an entire field of science literally called "Origin Of Life Research" wich is a thriving field of research. And why ours species out of all other? Maybe because if it was another one then we wouldn't be asking that question in the first place ? Lastly all those characteristique at 6:39 are all present in other species (except writing since it's a by-product of our civilization and you cannot even know if your own parent are actually thinking/imagining since yourself could be imagining that they are, so nevermind other species) 5. 6:46 Life came about because it could when the condition for something occur it occur, then evolution can begin, again thinking is meaningless to talk about, every species has some degree of intelligence and we have just more of it and it stayed because it worked well to our survival. Finally, love I don't know about every animal or insect or whatever, but it's very easy to see love in pretty much all mammal: cats, dogs, lion, rabbit, etc. and love is a pretty good characteristic to have to protect the species. So no it is not necessary that a being possess it all, and then the strawman about the sludge puddle, we're talking about bio-molecule (not life yet) that were forming 4 bilions years ago so way before any of those characteristic could appear. 6. I obviously do not have the answer to : how did we go from "nothing" to everything. But I can still say that god or and intelligent mind should still come from somewhere, if you say that the universe cannot form from nothing but a deity can, you must now explain how.

As a Muslim who's studying Physics , this is a great relief of a video , but i have always thought that maybe Religion and Science really CAN co-exist , but many scientists "disproved" that claim , and some Religious scholars said Science contradicts the teaching of Islam. or a part of it. but in reality , that's not the case. the more i research , the more i found that Islam in fact encouraged Science and to explore into the great depths of it. and i always loved that about Islam.

There is a whole slew of intellectual eras in both the christian and muslim world. Many caliphates and muslim empires were masters of reason and the sciences. Many noteable europeans were also devout christians yet also intellectuals that rationally examined the world. Religion is a lifestyle, people who simplify it down to it being a simpleton's way of evading science ignore the fact that all of their ancestors were directly religious and also people with a passion to learn. The peoples who invented writing, created the first bombs, and discovered mathematics were all likely staunch traditionalists and religious people like everyone else at the time was in their respective civilizations. The chinese scholars were almost certainly like this and this was the case in most of recorded history as well. Its only the advent of the modern age (mostly the internet era) that science has been somehow deemed a non religious area of study, solely based on unflattering stereotypes.

As an atheist, these arguments are very valid, and science really don't have counters to them, but a fun thing that Neil Degrass Tyson said during one of his videos got me thinking. He was comparing the intelligence between us and chimps and saying what if there were beings in the universe with that same difference in intelligence that we have with chimps. Our soul wouldn't be half as developed as them, and our understanding of the universe to them would be primary school level. In other words, we might just be extremely stupid. I'm open to the idea that a being beyond our comprehension created this universe, but I refuse to believe it could be our only answer. We know nothing about the universe, so it would be ignorant to do so in my opinion. We can't advance our knowledge if we think we already know the answer is what I believe
