It always bothers me when at alot of my pet stores they house SO SO MANY of the drawf hamsters together… one time i even went in a store and they were fighting over the wheel :( But thank you so much for spreading correct care! And Waddles and Dipper are literally ADORABLE❤

This happened to my friend’s uncle. He had two hamsters in the same cage. They looked like they hated eachother and he thought “One day they will get along”. The next morning he found one of them DEAD.

I cannot emphasize enough how hamsters should live alone. Ive owned two hamsters at a point in my life (both which lived in seperate cages) and one of them escaped one night and ended up getting into the other ones cage, leading to a bloody fight. Thankfully neither of them got seriously injured, just one of them was bitten once or twice. House ur hamsters seperate!!! Or just buy one hamster!!

I once had a male (Sunny) and a female (Mabel) hamster kept in separate enclosures and whenever my female was in heat she would do a lil mating call to Sunny. I obviously never put them together but it was still interesting to look at. Sunny never seemed interested though😂.

I added a bigger wheel to my hamsters cage and she stopped bar biting. Next Thursday I'ma get her a bin cage 😁 I'm just glad I got my hamster her own cage because I have 3 hamsters in our house and they all have their own cage 😅

That is something that people should take into consideration because some people like to house hamsters together that maybe they should do research before they decide to get a not a social animal

I had 2 hamsters just kept in separate cages (also one was a rescue & was abused in her past so she wasn’t very social with anyone accept me) so I’d get them out in separate times

Chinese Dwarf hamster is/was so cute

The tiny ones Robovski hamsters are able to live together and they’re the only ones but only when eachother not another breed of hamsters. I had 2 robovski hamster sisters that loved eachother humans not so much.

I know a hamster who lost a front leg, because other hamsters ate it, when they lived together in an enclosure..... :(

Many, many years ago, I adopted 2 male dwarf hamsters (someone dumped them at a Petco 😔) Me, not knowing anything, houses them together in a CRITTERTRAIL 😳 Luckily, they lived out their years unharmed. But man, if I knew then what I know now, they would’ve had a MUCH larger enclosure. I most likely would’ve only gotten 1. Or have 2 enclosures

In sweden dwarves are requierd to live in atleast a pair. Our registerd breeders focus on social dwarves that work in a group. You are however allowed to keep them seperate if they are unable to be keept in a group. In ourexperiebce only badly breed dwarves (petstores/kitchen breeding) tends to have a problem with living in a group.

my parents got my brother 2 pairs of hamsters, meaning.. they bought 4 hamsters ( dwarves by the way ) one or two of them, have injured the smallest male. which i will assume was a female or the very aggressive male we have, the have even killed the smallest. the aggressive male has tried to fight its own children ( not while young luckily ) but due to how much sexual activity going on with the hamsters, we've moved them by gender.. unfortunately, one of the males have been bullying its brother, and now we've moved the one being injured, but he has sadly passed.

My male hamster showed great interest for a cotton mouse toy ment for cats. I bought him 3 of those, because he chewed on their faces 😅 He passed from old age but he played with that toy only 16 days before he died in his sleep.. Now he is buried in the soil with his cotton wife ❤

I had two hamsters a few years ago and they would both try to escape to get to the other on so we put them together and they lived a long happy life together but once one did the other got depressed and died of depression

I’m tired of seeing hamsters living together on Craigslist in tiny cages. People know what they’re doing is wrong. Then when you try to post one to find a better home you get all sorts of weirdos . Someone wanted mine for their kid , expected it to come with food , and ghosted when I asked if she will be able to come out of the cage to exercise. I decided to keep my last one . I did get one half serious inquiry out of five who said he would take it if he had to, but had one who just passed and was still waiting for his ashes . The guy just needed someone to talk to. Even though sometimes I’d like to go to bed early, Ik this hamster is happiest with me. Don’t even get me started on childhood memories of multiple friends neglecting pets. It’s sad how many people assume pets will take care of themselves ,deserve to live life locked up behind a door or cage, and hoard them together in small areas when they’re clearly stressed . I wish most people cared about animals . I have to believe the few of us left who do will have good karma the rest of our lives .

Yes, BUT: even though they don't want to actually meet other hamsters, having them as neighbors can be beneficial. Especially male Syrians find it exciting to smell females during their free roam. I gave away one rescue that does absolutely nothing in his new home, hardly moves and seems utterly bored, but during his vacation at my place he blossoms. I have 6 females.. so being the only hamster in the house can make life pretty boring. They are very much like dogs, they want to smell and check the others' marks every night, set new ones etc. A single dog on a deserted island would be bored too. And there is one other benefit: a new, shy and scared hamster will follow the example of a room full of happy, confident hammies - I'm certain they can smell the others' mood. I've seen it: a new little one, scared to death, wouldn't show up for weeks during his quarantine, but when I moved him to my hamster room, he changed completely.

i have two male hamsters, (not sure what they are but i think dwarfs) and they adore eachother. ofc they fight from time to time but a few seconds later they will be just sleeping together and snuggling. i watch them very closely and if a fight ever gets out of hand, i will most likely stop it before it get serious. they have never injured eachother and i don't think they ever will. they love eachother and dare i say they need eachother lol they "wrestle" but it's most likely playing and i stop it if it looks like it's getting serious. i feel like some hamsters are ok to have together because they are just like mine. but i don't really know, my two just adore eachother, it's rlly sweet!
