I don’t know why it’s so hard to wrap around people’s minds that drag is quite literally just a costume… it’s not an identity… it’s like a stage presence.

I think Mr. King died as an old man in either 2020 or 2021. He produced 2 sons in his old age, which made my mouth drop open. 😅 Blessings & Happy New Year. 😊
except tonnes of people claim calling drag personas by their actors pronouns is transphobic... drag queens do so much harm to the trans community with this whole "I always identify as male but I demand you refer to me as female or its transphobia" rhetoric If drag queens arent trans or genderfluid then they cant be deadnamed or have the wrong pronoun used. Calling Tom Holland Tom when hes dressed as spiderman isnt deadnaming, and calling drag queens male isnt transphobia Takes the criticism away from actual transphobia
Trixie is a performer. A man in drag. Trixie is not transgender. That’s the point he’s making. “I’m a man dressed as a stage performer and nailing it“.
Hey! does that mean the Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn't really the Terminator and every other actor is just an actor playing a part? Even Obi-Wan Kenobi? What about Ginger and Gilligan? I’m sure Tyler Perry in Madea still feels like a male when he plays that character-drag is basically the same thing. It’s a loving and comedic exaggeration of femininity
@@mb8219its not mockery tho its expressive art and anyone can partake regardless of gender. And just bc drag queens is the most common direction doesnt mean drag kings arent a thing
@@themazesystem5392It is a mockery, though. Some level of drag is poking fun at gender as a concept. Drag queens go overboard on feminine features not because that's what a female is, it's because that's what society has decided what a woman is. Making womanhood and femininity (and manhood and masculinity) absurd highlights the way we confine ourselves to stereotypes and roles to avoid persecution by society even as cisgender people. That's also how drag is liberating. Recognizing that we're all just playing dress up in everyday life makes the pressure to conform seem less important, and one is instead allowed to be who or what they are in whatever way they'd like to be it. So yeah, it's absolutely a mockery, and that's exactly why it's valuable.
@@QuesoCookiesnicely stated!👍🏾 I am a " biological woman" and I don't feel like a man because I wear pants. I never dress up the way he is to feel like a woman. Therefore clothes and makeup are just exterior and do not actually define people gender. The sooner all people figure that out, the better it would be for society because there wouldn't be so much judgment over looking a certain way.. We live in a very foolish society to base gender on color choices and attire.

Exactly, being transgender isn't a choice, transitioning (social transition, medical transition, and or surgeries) is technically a choice but for many people the other option is death so when it comes to that it isn't really a choice.
Just because someone dresses as a woman, doesn't mean they are transgender. Some drag queens are, but it is not a prerequisite. This is like asking the actor who plays a prince, or a mailman in a movie if they might consider becoming a prince or a mailman someday. It's acting. It's a job.

@@magoo9279The character Trixie Mattel is a woman, she's like a Barbie woman but she is a woman, so in a way he becomes a woman sometimes because he is playing as the character Trixie in his performances. It's "becoming a woman" but in the way of an actor "becoming Spiderman", noone is saying that He identifies as a women or that he's genderfluid, we all know he's not don't worry. Also in the same note not everyone who is transgender will even use the terms "becoming. Woman/other gender", because for many people their gender identity doesn't change, they just find what it is and they have to undo what others around them have done by making a new name and stuff. And because "woman/man aren't biological terms, you can't become either of them in a biological sense.

I like how this addresses the confusion with what trans is. “Dressing up as the opposite sex” is NOT trans. A trans person doesn’t want to play dress up. They don’t feel they are the gender that aligns with the sex they were born as.
@@jamie_mask_westbut how would they know is my question. It makes absolutely no sense. No way would they understand nor could they relate. It’s not simply something as simple as “well I feel male or I think male” when what clarifies that? Having this idea that you this more sexually and like masculine things doesn’t make you think or be male.
@@user-pv5si6gv2uwell i don’t think its really possible for non trans people to fully understand what that feeling is. But like you might be comfortable in your sex and your gender(?), but just imagine the opposite, imagine you were a man and you had to do wear dresses and do typical girly things, wearing revealing clothing, wearing makeup and stuff. Now if you were a man and you identified as a man, that would probably make you very uncomfortable!
