Drag queens go overboard on feminine features not because that's what a female is, it's because that's what society has decided what a woman is. Making womanhood and femininity (and manhood and masculinity) absurd highlights the way we confine ourselves to stereotypes and roles to avoid persecution by society even as cisgender people. That's also how drag is liberating. Recognizing that we're all just playing dress up in everyday life makes the pressure to conform seem less important, and one is instead allowed to be who or what they are in whatever way they'd like to be it. So yeah, it's absolutely a mockery, and that's exactly why it's valuable.

Therefore clothes and makeup are just exterior and do not actually define people gender. The sooner all people figure that out, the better it would be for society because there wouldn't be so much judgment over looking a certain way.. We live in a very foolish society to base gender on color choices and attire.

I styled wigs for drag queens in the late 80s and early 90s, and every single one lived as a man. Most were gay but occasionally, I ran into straight drag queens. My brother in law, married to my husband sister, was a drag queen, and he and his wife had 2 children and 10 grandchildren, lol.

Exactly, being transgender isn't a choice, transitioning (social transition, medical transition, and or surgeries) is technically a choice but for many people the other option is death so when it comes to that it isn't really a choice.
Just because someone dresses as a woman, doesn't mean they are transgender. Some drag queens are, but it is not a prerequisite. This is like asking the actor who plays a prince, or a mailman in a movie if they might consider becoming a prince or a mailman someday. It's acting. It's a job.

I can see why people might get confused.. there are some transgender drag queens. But most are gay men 😂 and theres even a straight man who does drag. Drag is a form of art, it does not define someone’s gender identity.
@@magoo9279The character Trixie Mattel is a woman, she's like a Barbie woman but she is a woman, so in a way he becomes a woman sometimes because he is playing as the character Trixie in his performances. It's "becoming a woman" but in the way of an actor "becoming Spiderman", noone is saying that He identifies as a women or that he's genderfluid, we all know he's not don't worry. Also in the same note not everyone who is transgender will even use the terms "becoming. Woman/other gender", because for many people their gender identity doesn't change, they just find what it is and they have to undo what others around them have done by making a new name and stuff. And because "woman/man aren't biological terms, you can't become either of them in a biological sense.
Trixie is a character that makes him change his body every day. He didn't grow the silicon or foam padding. And changing his body everyday doesn't change how he sees himself inside or outside the character.
Bless him my fav broadcaster of all time. He passed away and I think it shorthanded his generation who cannot understand drag performances... Gotta give him that even it's difficult for him to understand. He still was giving Trixie fair share of exposure and chance to speak up in his show.
I like how this addresses the confusion with what trans is. “Dressing up as the opposite sex” is NOT trans. A trans person doesn’t want to play dress up. They don’t feel they are the gender that aligns with the sex they were born as.

But like you might be comfortable in your sex and your gender(?), but just imagine the opposite, imagine you were a man and you had to do wear dresses and do typical girly things, wearing revealing clothing, wearing makeup and stuff. Now if you were a man and you identified as a man, that would probably make you very uncomfortable!
