I've been waiting on this tutorial! Thanks. I've been working on it to do for church and yes the bridge is hard for me to sing and play! I was going to get my other singer to do the bridge since it is a little tricky. I do it in a higher key since I'm a girl but I love this song! I may get a video when we do it and link it in these comments. Thanks to your videos I've found out about Elevation worship (a couple months ago) , I had never heard of them before. Wow I love Elevation worship. Such powerful lyrics and beautiful melodies! Thanks again! :-)

Hey Brian, thanks for this tutorial and for all the other stuff you do, you guys at WT are true servants of the worldwide worship music community! I am learing this song for the first time to play bass this coming Sunday so I have also been looking at Mike Brandenstein's bass tutorial and consulting the lead sheet I downloaded from SongSelect. I want to argue with you over the timing of the commencement of the instrumental before the bridge. You have the start of the riff on the 4th beat of the bar (at 09:26 in this video) but surely it is half a beat before that as per the lead sheet and Mr Brandenstein's video. Our worship leader this week is female so we are in C (PTL for Audacity to chage MP3 keys!!).

I learned the intro to the chorus myself on my own, and I'm not sure if this is an actual chord, But second Fret of low E and G, and third fret of B and high E sound okay to me as an easier alternative to D/F# I also usually play a G instead of G/B

We are actually doing this on Sunday (2 more days) & I've watched several times but unable to see clearly how you position your fingers on the bridge, going back & forth from the G/B-C to the D/F#/G. I feel like it's awkward & sloppy to switch playing these exact chords ~ it looks like you have a little shortcut. Can you explain? Thanks ~ triple thanks if you can explain before Sunday!

Wow! A very very nice redition and instructional video of this song by Brian here! However, I have one clarification / correction to make - Brian's version of a "C" chord here is actually a "C2" chord, due to the added "D" note on the 2nd (B) string. But this actually gives a really nice "droning effect throughout" on the upper 1st & 2nd strings, due to the additional "D" note in his "C" chord, and also in his "G" chord too, as well as the very same natural "D" note in the "D" chord. Furthermore, Brian's suggestion to simply play his version of the "C" chord (which, again, is actually a "C2" chord) in place of a "C6" chord (which would technically include an "A" note and no "D" note) makes perfect sense, simply because his added "D" note is not only the 2nd tone in the scale for a normal "C" major chord, but it is also the all-important 4th tone to the desired additional "A" note of a "C6" chord, and it is also the all-important 5th tone of his added "D" note that Brian plays in his version of a "C" chord here, and all of these 2 notes (D & A) exist in the relevant scales of C, D, and A. Therefore, the "C2" chord, in general, fits in very nicely in lieu of a "C6" chord, as Brian inadvertently suggests. Moreover, this type of "trick" (playing a "2" chord in lieu of a "6" chord) can typically be used more broadly and readily as a good alternative chord in almost every instance of a "6" chord, for ANY key. I hope my music theory is correct here and that I am not misleading everyone. I just found this technical information, by my own observations, to be quite useful. Hard to follow

You know what? Almost every tutorial you guys do, you always play a song in a different key, because you can’t sing it in the original. Why can’t you get a girl or someone with a higher register to teach us the original song in the original key? Some ppl don’t know or understand how to transpose on guitar. But they can sing it fine without having to change the key. Just a thought.

While I appreciate the effort to help guitar players learn this song, I can't believe you just recommended using the thumb over the top to play a bass note! That is horrible technigue and not a method to be encouraged.
