@@trasktalker1782 yes as a Jew I was ritually circumcised and my son who was not born jewish (his mother is catholic) was circumcised also. I do not have any regrets having it done. I dont remember it and I feel it helps with my genital hygiene as well as sexual enjoyment for myself and my partner. I dont believe that it was "mutilation".
just seeing ur video now, 3 yrs later🤦🏽♀️😅 but thank u for recommending the book by harold kushner, i just bought it on kindle in uk, these are questions i have always been curious about as a reformed jew, love ur channel ❤
I’m not Jewish, but I started watching your channel out of curiosity and, honestly, you brought me closer to my own religion. We share most of the same views on God, which is something I always struggle to talk about with my Christian friends and family. When I watch your videos, it’s like I’m having a deep conversation with a good friend who’s saying exactly what’s on my mind.
One of my favourite quotes ever (actually from a musical, les miserable) is 'To love another person is to see the face of God'. Every time I hear it sung it makes me tear up.
I just want to say thank you so much for explaining this religion in simple terms! I started to be curious about Judaism just recently at the age of 44. I started by watching services and I was very overwhelmed and didn’t understand it at all. So, again, thank you so much!
Gosh! I love 💜 listening to you it's so soothing and refreshing, clear. ( not confusing or riddled like lots of religious talks can be encrypting) you are clear concise. I'm truly impressed.
God is only one not different for hindu, muslim , Christian etc. There was no Hindu before aadi shankaracharya, no Christian before Essa ji, no muslim before Mohammed ji, no Sikhism before nanak dev ji. I feel like you made this video at the exact moment that I was having a hard time explaining stuff to my daughter. She was asking about believing totally and fully in things and how she's not sure what exactly she believes. And I said, "well, I guess its a good thing we're Jewish then, huh?" And she didn't understand my response and I was having a hard time finding some of the words. So this actually helped me to explain to her what I wanted to convey. Thanks.
I remember as a young woman, married, mother of little ones, homeowner, thinking I am a child. Someone will see that and call me out and uncover the truth. But finally, one day I felt I had grown into adulthood. After listening to you today I thought.......wisdom from an adult . You with your good mind and good heart are there 💟
That is so kind of you to say, me and my husband often will shout 'NO PARENTS!' when we do something caaaraazy like leave the dishes to the next day and it just makes us laugh thinking yes we have responsibilities but sometimes we still feel very young!
The story you shared about the man who asked God for help and He brought everyone to help him.. do you know where that came from? My grandma told me that story and it stuck with me. I’ll for sure pass it on to my children one day. 💙💙💙
I believe it was initially created decades ago and intended to be a joke. I suppose it has since been used to express a message but honestly, it's better as a joke.
Our miracle is Allah told us in his book the real stories of all the prophets , and Koran still the same and it will never change until the end of everything.
I was raised Christian. But feel Jewish. I have read both the Bible and started the Torah. I don't have a Synagogue within a hundred miles to ask questions. I used to pray to Jesus and God didn't hear me. Praying straight to God, He hears me and provides answers. From what I am reading, the Torah is a lot like the old testament. I'm lost. I don't feel Christian. But wasn't born Jewish. No where to turn except for RU-vid. Wish me luck. Thank you for the video's.
@@ntmn8444 Or maybe, part of the Old Testament is part of the Torah.. I am believing more and more that Jesus was another person. Just glorified by Constantine.
As a reform Jew, I’m curious to see if people would consider using “she” when referring to G-d because if “he” doesn’t hold much value, neither should “she” or “they”
In every single way we talk about God it is in the contemporary way of speaking. There is no way to relate to God with our finite understanding of the world. God is beyond space, time, and matter and there is no possible way we can come close to understanding Him with our minds. Therefore, when we say God is jealous or he stretched out his arm or when we call Him by the pronoun "He", it doesn't at all mean that this is how we think He literally is. "He" is just an easy way to speak when referring to Him. God has no gender and to try to make this into some sort of equal rights for women type of thing is ridiculous.
I discovered my Jewish blood some time ago but haven't had much of an opportunity to learn. With a good woman on my arm I felt it was time as I may have to pass some of this knowledge down to my kids at some point. Thanks for making something so friendly and concise. Hopefully you have more knowledge to impart on Judaism in the future.

I feel the way I learned about god growing up is like a father or mother there’s some discipline but it’s loving and god has so much love and forgiveness. Cuz he loves us as he’s or her children
Love that book! Thank you for the reminder of it. I will have to read it again. Having been raised as an atheist, but always yearning for religion and spirituality, that book allowed me to believe in God without giving up my rational brain.
I'm Christian, but enjoy your spirit of teaching righteous relating. But it's obvious that You must be unique & gifted to stand amongst all the majority male teachers in the Jewish religion. It's hard "not" to listen to you, continue to be blessed by the grace of God. 🙏🙏🙏
thank you so much i loved this video and found it super helpful as a jewish person who received practically zero jewish education. i often do not know what i am SUPPOSED to believe in. will definitely check out the books you mentioned
I often do not know what I am supposed to believe in? Do you not have your own mind? Can you not make your own decisions? Just like most religious people you think you have to believe what ever religion your parents taught you to be true! and with 2,780 different gods that claim to be sole creator of the universe you don’t have a good statistical chance of being right!! Maybe you could look at all evidence and make up your own mind?
Hi! Thank you once again for your video. You have a special talent to give a thorough view in such a brief time. I'm not sure if I have asked this before, but how do you feel about using the name of G-d? Is the trial to form coherent word from the Tetragrammaton something a Jew can understand? Does it feel disrespectful when some Christians and Christianity based movements use the name as a sort of direct noun or is it just indifferent?
What a kind compliment, thank you so much I appreciate it! I don't personally get offended as I think as long as someone doesn't mean any harm when they use words then it doesn't bother me.
A really amazing book to explore different Jewish philosophers’ thoughts on G-d is Finding God by Rifat Sonsino and Daniel Syme! It’s very accessible to read :) thanks for making this video Marion, you’re the best!!
I dont know if you can explain this to me, but why is God always written as G-d? Im a Christian but interested in learning about other beliefs. Thank you
I believe in God. I have been interested in becoming Jewish. I even bought a book called Judaism for dummies. So much to learn and I follow you on Instagram too. Thanks...
I understand so many things I just took for granted and made my own sense of as I became an adult. Thank you. I am going to share this with my children.
This was very insightful, thank you! I would be interested to hear what Jewish people believe about Yeshua. This is perhaps a bit controversial, but I genuinely want to understand. I asked another Jewish mom RU-vidr her beliefs about Yeshua, having been raised Catholic and later converting to Judaism, but her kurt response suggested I had offended her, which was not my intention. Any chance you'd be willing to answer this question?
I'm going to assume this was asked in good faith, but the simple answer is... we don't. He's not God, he's not a Prophet, he's a man who lived and died in the second temple era and gained a following as the leader of an apocalyptic sect of Judaism. Ever since then, Christians (and "messianic Jews", which I feel like you might be for calling him Yeshua?) have been trying to goad us into acknowledging him as our God and us as his murderers, but it's really not something we care about.
If Yeshua means nothing to these people then why get so offended? Personally I do believe in him a a Christian as he was foretold throughout the Old Testament. I’m all for grace if someone doesn’t agree that’s fine but I just wish people could be more respectful bc we are all different.
Not always been the case. To me it’s a way jews have stopped living by the Torah. Liberal Jews know the Bible, Koran and Torah cannot be taken literally. They are just man written fiction books.
I was raised non-practicing Catholic. My parents both went to Catholic school and church and hated it, so they raised me without; but when I started asking questions, Catholic was the framework they're answers came from. I consider myself spiritual/Christian more than anything, but this makes a lot more sense. I've never quite conceptualized the "Trinity," agreed with original sin, etc. I've always believed in something that I called God, who can (and has) intervene himself or through people, but imagined one entity. I believe there is an ultimate plan for each of us, and an afterlife of some kind, and I'm vaguely familiar with the Bible, but I don't think it's fair to judge someone with scripture.
I grew up without religion in my family but I live in Utah and am fully immersed in a Mormon community. That being said, I've met very, very few Jewish people. They aren't kidding when they say Utah is very homogenous. 😓 Your channel does a great job of explaining things to a super beginner! I also love outfit/accessories!
I live in Utah, too! Yet, there are many Jewish people here, along with several synagogues of various thoughts and Jewish Family Services (a nonprofit assisting those in need). Services are open to anyone, so, if interested, feel free to attend or volunteer with their community programs! Shalom! ✡️🙏🕊️
This was a great dive into belief! Would you ever consider doing a video on how you bring Jewish tradition into your daily life? I've watched you house tours where you have Judaica, could you maybe mention when you pray or other daily rituals? Just an idea, please keep sharing your awesome content, it means a lot to someone like me who is trying to learn more about Judaism 😊
I’m glad you acknowledge how Judaism has changed over time. The Jewish people has its identity in the relationship and interaction with God throughout the ages. To deny the existence of God, as many so called “atheist Jews” have done is to cease to be Jewish in my opinion. It’s just in vain to continue practicing religious traditions if you don’t believe. I mean, think about the most basic prayer “Amen!”, that means to give assent to something being true. I honestly think that you would never hear Jewish teachers, scholars, prophets, or priests thousands of years ago telling people they don’t have to believe in God. Like, it makes no sense at all. Does the truth change over time or is it constant? The idea that it doesn’t matter if you believe in God is stupid because as soon as you don’t believe, what reason is there for you to follow the law and commandments anymore? Either God dictated his law to us or he didn’t. We understand how to be good based on what God has told us over time. How can there be any expectation of living a good life when we have somehow cut ourselves off the source of goodness? Thanks for your video, a lot of things to think about in there.
I couldn't help but wonder while I was watching... if a Jew doesn't believe in God, then what is their heritage and what is the point of celebrating and observing all of the feast days, obeying the commands, etc for the same points you brought up (arctechtulare) 🤔 I suppose you can be Jewish by heritage and be secular, but again what would be the point of observing any of what scripture tells us to? You don't have to be any specific religion or have lineage to any particular region or people to celebrate Christmas, Easter or any pagan holiday, for instance, but it's quite different for a people who are supposed to be God's chosen and set apart from the rest...
I love your channel. More non-clergy people need to make channels like this. Regardless of faith~ We can learn about each other without feeling we are in school again lol
I came to ur channel bc I came to the realization suddenly that Jewish ppl don’t believe in God after mingling with a couple of ppl throughout my life. Well after ur explanation I understand and I would like to mention it resonates a lot with some parts of Catholicism. I am catholic and went to catholic school in an urban area they pretty much taught us about all faiths ( bc most ppl who went to the school were from different and went to Catholic school bc the public schools in the area were bad) and I must say they actually did a pretty good job in my school. I moved out of the area and now live in a rural area and go to church sometimes but the catholic ppl out here are a bit out of the loop. It’s more like a cult not like in my in my home-city and I get why ppl shy away .
The current Torah portion gives the 10 Commandments. If everyone followed them this world would be a much better place. Even for atheists; if they don't believe in G-d, they shouldn't stir up strife by arguing His existence, offend others by speaking ill of Him or others' belief in Him (just leave them alone and vice versa)
I’m not Jewish, so I defer to others who know far more than I do when contemplating the religion. But I will make a logical observation based on the premises presented in this video. Here goes: If being Jewish is more than a result of adopting certain tenets of faith, how is conversion possible? If, as the video suggests, belief is subordinated to existential identity when determining Jewishness, how can one decide to become a Jew? Can a lion decide to become a tiger? I know my observation and questions are relevant in practice because converts are looked upon suspiciously as “Jewish lite” and outside the fold in many circles. MANY circles!
If God is one can you explain this from your Bible ( please don’t ignore me) “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” Genesis 1:26 KJV
I observe the Torah but I do believe it’s all about faith and then works. If I just commend to the laws bc I think I’m supposed to but don’t believe in the God of Israel and the amazing stories of his true power and how to longs for everyone to recognize him as the omega, the first and the last then what’s the point exactly of any of it? Why would I care about serving him if I don’t believe in his true power and love for us all ❤️
Love the way you sharing about your beliefs in God ❤️ In my believe there is only one God "Alllah" And Muhammad (PBUH) is the last Messenger and Prophet for us.
Thank you so much! Love hearing your beliefs as well, I find it comforting to hear how other beliefs even if different from my own share the same element of faith.
I loved this! I do believe that trying to be a decent person is more relevant than what one "believes". Those books sound really good, I plan to find them and read them.

I’m Jewish, but I still believe is Jesus and I believe god sent him down to die on the cross for our sins. But people don’t believe that when I tell them. “You’re Jewish. You can’t believe in god” but, that just makes no sense. My dads side of the family is Jewish. But my moms side are Christians. So I was raised to believe in god (which I do) and I was also raised to celebrate Hanukkah and light the menorah every year (which I do) I often get called a fake believer and am told I’m not aloud to celebrate Christmas because I’m a jew. But, I’m only half Jew and was still raised in a mostly Christian household. And I don’t see anything wrong with believing and celebrating both holidays and religions 😅
I believe G-d is male even in spirit. Just my personal belief that no one needs to know lol Also: G-d's oneness Elohim is a plurality in power, not in number.
B'tzelem Elohim, meaning we are all made in the image of g-d. Which can mean that Gd doesn't ascribe any sex, gender, religion or image. It is a very human thing to give Gd human traits. Traits like sex and gender for us to grapple with the image of Gd.
I didn't get how Judaism doesn't really care if I believe in God but cares about books that revealed from him. How am going to follow books came from someone I don't believe in him himself?
God works on mysterious ways we don't understanding everything but God is good and it is true that some really good people who do the will of God overcome terrible things. We as people don't understand that but God is rightness I personal think they get an big reward when they still follow God maybe in the after life.
Dear daughter of the living God , first I thank God and you for opening my eyes and ears to know who the Almighty is. I submit myself to follow the book of Torah. I’m from SriLanka. Help me to obtain a book of Torah and where I can study and understand in English. God bless you.
Christopher, try purchasing a Tanakh. They have them with the Hebrew language on one side and English on the other of the pages. It is only the Torah without the Christian New Testament
As God told Israel through Isaiah the prophet: “Come, let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet [crimson], they shall be white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as [white] wool” (Isaiah 1:18) Ask your rabbi, what happened when the red cloth from the scape goat tied to the temple door didn't changed to white from as from 30Ad to until temple destruction in 70Ad
Hello I was born and raised Christian until not too long ago about 4 years ago been studying Judaism and Ive felt in love with Judaism. Ive also seriously studied Christianity, prayed about it and found I've been fooled with a religion that was forced upon us in Spain and in the america's (Christianity) I've also found a lot mistakes on Christianity. I'm very, very interested in converting I know I have to find a Rabbi to sponsor me and study, been studying just waiting for synagogues to open. I will cry of happiness. Please help me and guide me on what to do. Shalom.
Grateful to Find you, I want to learn what the present day Jew believe. Lately I am realizing that, what I think Judaism is as a Christian is way different than what I think it is. As you said God is "I am" so as a Christian I believe the God of Old Testament is the God of the New Testament who is loving,sovereign,just....💖
I believe we all see God different, but we all have the same goal. N that is love and that’s all me need. We need to love each other, the way God loves us.
I'm hoping to make one last one to end the summer series! If you have a particular question or topic in mind please let me know so I can try to include it.
Thank you for your videos! After Moses encounters God at the burning bush and says “I AM what I AM” he goes on to tell Moses His Name: Shemot 3:15 “Say unto the children of Israel, Yehovah יְהֹוָה God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.”
One thing though, Torah does not explicitly teach the existence of one God, as many scholars have noted, the Hebrew word "elohim" is a category type with much broader applications than the English term, in it's Ancient Near-Eastern context can refer to a wide variety of different beings inhabiting the spiritual realm. The ancient Hebrew authors aren't claiming that only one elohim exists, their argument is that among all the elohim that are worshipped only one is the true Creator, Sustainer, and Source of all that exists, including the other elohim. The Tanakh, as well as every other culture in the world, document a time when a group of beings from another dimension rebelled against their Creator, entered into this reality and got humans to worship them, taught idolatry, sorcery and advanced technology, and began to sire hybridized offspring. This is further explained in the Jewish book of Chanokh ("Enoch"), Aramaic fragments were found among the Dead Sea scrolls. The pagan gods are what we today refer to as angels and demons. Definitely check out some of Dr. Michael Heiser's work.
Thank you for sharing your message. It took me a while to figure out you were trying to pronounce "theologian" (thee-uh-low-jn). It's interesting, since you pronounced "theological" properly.

I think I have an average idea of what your beliefs are and where you stand, but what is the Jewish story opposed to the New Testament if Jesus wasn't or isn't who the New Testament says He is? Where can I learn if you aren't as educated in the information?
[Sub’d!] I’m a Torah-observant Christian, i.e., observing the 7 Biblical holy days, incl the weekly Shabbat (sunset Fri - sunset Sat), and abstain from pork & shellfish (and other dietary proscriptions, like rabbit, etc). Do not believe Christmas or Easter are holy days, so we don’t observe them as such. But, we don’t follow strict “Kosher” aspects nor Talmudic rabbinic writings as they are additions to His word (even though they may be wise, advisable, or good guidance - they are not God’s words). Our Shabbats do not follow strict Jewish traditions of can’t drive, can’t cook, etc; we just devote our Sabbaths to focusing on Godly things (accessing God-centered YT vids, like yours), resting, not buying or selling, etc. We observe the beginning of the Biblical year on the month of Aviv (Nisan) w/ Pesach being the 14th day and believe that Yeshua was the expiation of our sins who died on Passover, lain in a tomb while Feast of Unleavend Bread (FOUB) was on-going (a High Sabbath day that year), resurrected 3 days & 3 nights afterwards on First Fruits (the first day after the regular Fri-Sat Shabbat of FOUB, as defined by the Torah) - not on “Good Friday,” an errant Christian doctrine not based Biblically. Watch any Shabbat service of JacobsTent . org (or search the “Bill Cloud” channel on YT) and you’ll be *VERY* pleasantly surprised and familiar with its “liturgy,” songs, and Parsha structures. Try it….you’ll like it! God Bless!
You are a wonderful lady and I do really like your work and your videos from a Muslim Syrian kid to the Jewish mom big love and respect and hopefully one day we will leave in peace all of us , there are many similarities between Judaism and Islam and I will continue reading and learning day by day
I a Christian who believed Jesus is the Lord and Savior. Good to hear about modern understanding of God today among the Jews as compared to bible times. Can I ask, is there any free thinker or Atheist Jews in Israel? It is a crime if one profess as unbeliever of God in Israel openly?
@@MyJewishMommyLife No Thank you, I truly did enjoy listening to you and believe me I have spent the last 5 years every day 12 to 14 hours a day searching for the truth.
"Eheye Asher Eheye" in Hebrew is literally: "I will be that I will be" in future tense - That, wrongly, is translated into English as: "I am that I am" present tense. Why that is, I have no clue... Sorry.
Hi I am confused. You stated we cannot Know G-d. The Bible confirms Noah walked with G-d ie had a relationship with G-d. Noah found favour with G-d. Also Abraham was a friend of God. Again showing a close relationship. The first commandment is hear O Israel meaning listen and obey Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart thy being. How can you love someone if you don't know them?
I went to a predominately Catholic college and few of my classmates could understand how I separated Jewish culture from G-d. If we had RU-vid back then I would have pointed them to your channel.
It’d be such a shame to pray te prayers,do the rituals, and participate in the traditions without ever having g an actual relationship with our creator.sinc the beginning, god has desired family,we see his attempts at this through out scripture.Relationshipwith our Heavenly Father is a personal and corporate need in this world, there is just no substitute❤️Psalms says that he cares about every detail of our lives!amazing😉
