A comment related to the question on study 'how to grow' 'how to hear'...i read and listened through the audio Bible 5 times before i got revelation of the Grace & Faith message by listening to Andrew's teaching series "You've already got it". After the revelation the Bible is MUCH MORE alive and my understanding is quickened.
Hi Brother Barry - love the way you teach. You are a blessing. Regarding the tithe wouldn’t it have been correct to also share the first time the Bible mentions the word tithe - viz., in Genesis 14:20. And that the reason for Abram tithing was simply because he was being blessed? And further this Melchizedek is once again mentioned in Hebrews 7 where again the Holy Spirit talks about the tithe / the tenth of ALL. Verses 7:2, 4, 6, 8. Besides Jesus Christ is now our Eternal High Priest receiving the tithes. So it is an honour to tithe and give offerings because we are blessed with ALL spiritual blessings in the heavenlies through ChristJesus. Would love to have your take on this.
According to Malachi chapter 3 taken in context tithing is an ordinance Colossians 2 verse 14 says that Jesus blotted out those handwritten ordinances nailing it to the cross. As Jesus paid for our sins, sickness and disease ect, he also paid our tithes too! How awesome is Jesus!
Nowhere in the Bible is tithing called a "spiritual principle" nor is it equivalent or comparable to more important, moral (eternal) matters (Matthew 23:23). All biblical, systematic (required) tithing occurred under Mosaic Law, facilitated through ceremonial and civil ordinances, and only consumable items were collected as a tithe deliverable from within Israel. There's no biblical evidence God required any tithing before Mosiac Law or after. In 1 Corinthians 9, Paul is not commanding or commending tithing. He uses an analogy to justify the worthiness of ministers of the Gospel to receive support, equal in importance to that of the Levitical Priests. He didn't make the claim that it was mandatory. In 2 Corinthians 9 Pauls emphasizes giving cheerfully, not under compulsion (discretionary). Malachi 3 can't be universally applied either historically or currently as it was addressed towards the Levitical Priests (see Malachi 1:6 and 2:1). And once again, it had nothing to do with money. Today's version of tithing has no biblical precedent, so it can't be seen as an act of biblical obedience, but there's nothing wrong with practicing it as a form of discretionary, systematic giving.
Prior to the Law the example of Tithe that we have is from Abraham. We want to answer you as thoroughly and thoughtfully as possible, Mark. Please email us your question at questions@awmi.net - AWMI Team
@@CharisCollege Thanks for your response. Yes, Abraham (Abram at the time) submitted a portion of war spoils to Melchizedek, a one-time event that was likely driven by the custom of the land. I don't really have any questions but if the AWMI Team is interested in a discussion about biblical tithing, that would be fine.
What about those who don't have a penny to donate because they're bankrupt?🤔 Nowadays, not many pastors are willing to share $5.00 with a homeless person. Wheres the love to help one another?
God sees the heart? And that's all matters but God doesn't want them to live in Bankrupt status for their life time. At some point, they have to come out of it.
A tithe is not off of what you currently have Gary, it's off of increase. We want to answer you thoroughly too. Please email your question to us at questions@awmi.net - Charis Team
If this is correct why then have many belivers and churches prospered more by the principle of giving. (I.e. sowing and reaping principles as taught by the Apostle Paul) 2 Cor 9?
Why didn't Paul the apostle to the gentile teach or require tithing? The church teaches tithing because they don't trust God to provide for the needs of the church so they teach the untruth of tithing. We are to give cheerfully from our hearts.
I believe you are absolutely correct. You gave those that teach we are required to tithe the benefit of doubt by NOT calling them something else much more negative.
Abraham gave 10%, but it could had been 17%, 6%, 50%… IT WAS WHAT ABRAHAM PURPOSED IN HIS HEART TO GIVE! That’s what I believe we should give as born again believers. Whatever the Holy Spirit impresses in our heart. It may be 10%, or it may be less or more. I love Charis, but I disagree on this point. It is still law if one is following a rule instead of the guidance of the Spirit. We have a new heart, a new human spirit, and the Holy Spirit in us. (Ezequiel 36) We actually want to do good… and generosity is part of our new born spirit.
