Sorry to hear about ur experience. I bought my 2012 Carbon red, same exact bike, new and I have nothing but great things to say about it. Maintenance every Spring at the dealer since new , 30k miles. Love it. No wheelies ever...it provides enuff thrills.
How many miles do you put on your bike between maintenance... once a year sounds like you are hardly riding you bike at all. I maintenance mine like 3 times a year but I'm always riding... super reliable in my experience also but now you got me wondering if I'm over doing it on the maintenance 🤔
Have a 2014 Diavel. And after maybe 8 years. I still love it. Yes, parts can be expensive. And take time to get. And at the same time. You get it serviced regularly with a good mechanic. And you should always be confident with the bike. I personally have never had any issues with mine.
Love my Diavel. Had it over a year and done 10,000+ on it. It has now covered 24,000. No problems yet. Also, have met lots of other Diavel owners around here and they all love their Diavels too. Sorry you had a bad experience with yours man.
wait till you fall off and scrape the exhaust tank and front fork and they ask yo for 15000$ repair costs like they did me. Ducati do not give good after sales service and rip you off for parts and repairs. Beautiful bikes ride like a Moto GP all of them, but they are 1. overpriced and 2. unaffordable to repair you can buy 2 new bikes for the cost of repairing damages on a Ducati. Like a yacht, you dont need 20,000 bucks only for the Yacht, you need another 100,000 bucks to pay for repairs and maintenance. The faults on the bike come from the fact they are assembled in Thailand by methhead kids who didnt sleep for three days too. My front fork shock absorber fell off as the seal broke after 1000 km run in and did a speed wobble and threw me off the bike, flipped itself over and did a surfboard impression along the road. could buy a new one almost for the repair cost.
@@AjarnSpencer If you can't afford to own a Ducati then don't buy one. They are expensive to buy and repair, suck it up, so are exotic cars. You can choose to buy or not buy. Personally I like to have insurance that covers the cost of repairs if I have an accident, same as with every vehicle I own. As for all Thais being methheads, don't be such a racist, insulting c*nt.
I have a 2011 Ducati Diavel carbon black, it had 12,000 miles on it and I paid $10,000, luckily I got a warranty, I had the exact same problem with the wire harness at the point you show, in fact it was repaired before at the same spot by another dealer according to the carfax data, I took it in at 15,000 miles for the Desmo service , it was $2,200 plus $600 parts, I wanted 2 new sprockets a new chain, two tires and a battery, it was about $4,000, They call me and say the wire harness was repaired before and failed and needed a new harness for $3,000 ! I had the warranty and they agreed to fix it, during this they said the slave cylinder was bad and gear position sensor ws bad too, it was going to be over $4,000 for the warranty company and $4,000 for my part , it had 15,000 miles and I had over $15,000 into the bike! I asked the dealer how much they would buy my bike for they said $5,500 and they know all the service and new stuff ! I have tried to sell it and nobody has bought it for $6,000! I called the place online that buys the bike and they said $4,500! and they sell the same bike for $6 to $10,000! My gas tank cover carbon fiber clear coat is starting to peel and needs a new clear coat, the seat cover just started unraveling suddenly too! The bike has been a money pit, I rode 3,000 miles and have spent $15,000, about $5 a mile! Every 15000 miles a $3,000 service is required but you can buy low mileage motors for $2k, its is smarter to replace the motor with a 4,000 mile engine than dump thousands into a 30,000 mile engine! I ran into the same thing with my 1991 BMW 850i V12 Coupe, it was $91,000 in 1991, it was the cutting edge of tech then, the V 12 is essentially two 6 cylinder 2.5 litre engines with a common crankshaft, it has 2 engine management systems even 2 batteries, it was about $3,500 a year to keep it in shape, it became evident used V 12 engines are cheaper than fixing an old V 12 engine, they were called throw away motors. Ducati denies a problem with the wire harness routing and it cost me thousands and now I see it is a design flaw!
Sorry to hear about your problems bro. Never had a problem with my 2013. One warranty issue with a sensor and rear tire wears fast. The dealer has tried to recommend expensive service but I know better. Only 10k miles though and I don't do wheelies. I do ride like I stole it though. No regrets here.
I agree. Stay away from Ducati. My 2013 “ new “ Diavel engine heat (red line) could not be fixed. I even offered to ship it back to the factory in Italy at my expense to get it fixed. Customer service plus their CEO eventually turned nasty when I asked them to replace it with a new one. I got rid of it and it had just 13000 km on the clock. Great machine. Piss poor service and factory back up.
The CEO of Thailand Gino is a butt head too he also is nasty, ands the repair costs are like "wtf?" if it costs me 10,000 bucks for a new exhaust and repair the tank and the front fork seal, and 13000 for a new bike? WTF you italian thieves! Its all made in China and assembled in Thailand cheap.. this aint even an Italian bike anymore except in name. BUt yes still great machines, just more expensive to maintain or fix than a Yacht in a Marina
I got 8.5k miles on mine, the fuel sending sensor was replaced under warranty at approx. 2k miles. This is a known problem with this bike. The new fuel sending sensor went out again at approx 6.5k miles. So far this has been the only issue I've had, which is not that bad when you think about it. Costs approx $250 with parts and labor at the stealership. I havent had any other major mechanical or electric issues. I'm happy with the bike so far and I'd buy it again. In my opinion this is one of the best well rounded motorcycles, it can do everything well. Cruiser stance with sport bike power. It''s a shame you had issues, but sounds like the cause of 50% of you issues is user error. This is not the bike to be a hooligan in, it will do wheelies and burn outs but it was not made for that. Maybe you need an R1 or even a super motard. This bike was not meant to be abused. I'm not in wall street and mine hasn't broken the bank (knock on wood) and it seems it can go a long time with no issues. It is my opinion that this is a good quality bike and I don't get paid by ducati to say that. I believe that most cases where this bike has failed is due to the rider and not the bike. I do agree that maintenance and labor are expensive just like with any high end vehicle but you dont have to service it as often so in the long run it is not unreasonably expensive to keep it running. It is also more complicated to work on it on your own so mechanically challenged individuals will have to dish out more $$. I perform my own oil changes, chain adjustments, fluids check and some preventive maintenance. I know how to replace the instrument cluster, fuel tank and many other components myself if I had to. I'm far from being a mechanic but I know how to use and allen wrench and a ratchet. Besides, working on your own bike is half the fun! And one more thing, I think my girlfriend would be ok with me spending extra $$ on a bike that licks...
Any Ducati will do a wheelie if you want it to, and many will, even if you don't, And Ducati engines ARE meant to be abused. They are super-bike engines regardless of frame shape. I believe you mean 'Hyper Motard' not 'Super Motard.'

Cornell shut your mouth, this was my 6th bike and was the only one that give me issues, it was my dream bike but quality is garbage, my friend had a monster and guess what ? Bunch of problems and stupid issue. I will never get another bike that is not Japanese 🇯🇵 now I got the Suzuki Boulevard M109r and after 3 years and hard riding no issues at alllllll Ducati is garbage period
Well, this is a bunch of horse s***. He bought the bike used. He never know what it saw before he got it. Every diavel owner I know, love their bike. Reliable as a hammer.
That explains the leaking, the answer is in 4:18 U can't wheelies with diavel despite it had the raw power.., same concept that u can't jerk Harley bike, it wasn't build to handle that stress 1:58 it seems like the sealer leaked out from the casing, either sloppy maintenance job or overheating maybe due to high revving..

Man I put 14k miles on mine and had 2 minor issues wasn't hard to fix.. looooved the bike till I got hit. Only reason I don't have it any more And it was a brake light issue and a harness break at the neck. But another easy fix.
Ducati refused to respect my three year warranty even on a misassembled wing mirror that had a 5 sided allen key and the left one had the Ducati six pointed star key, and the mirrors did spins 360 when driving impossible to tighten. They refused warranty, despite faulty assembly using non ducati screws and bolts on a newly arrived bike XXXX Ducati AND THE CEO, it is almost as expensive to repair something on a Ducati, as to buy a new bike. And the assembly line is very bad many come loosely screwed together. Mine had blue white yellow and green and red paint dabs al over it as if 'coloring by numbers fo apprentice assembly line kids' style, and they refusd to remove it saying the paste cant be removed wont wash off. (it wont either!)

I actually regret buying my 2015 Carbon. I was thinking about it for 3 months before I decided to just buy it. But right now I wish I never bought it. Tough lesson for me
@@Colt-Forty5 Expensive to maintain. You can service the bike yourself but you cant turn off the service lights. Servicing here in Australia will set you back $400 for a minor and close to $2000 for major service every 25,000klms. There is also a chain slapping noise which is annoying on bumpy road and changing down gears. You will be limited on tyre selection. Fob key sometimes doesn't connect so you have to hold key under seat to start it. I also didn't think the dealership I bought the bike from was professional. Ive always wanted a Ducati and after owning it and having experienced their dealership, I am turned off the brand. I was tossing up between a Harley and Diavel and now Im wishing I got the Harley. Id only recommend this bike if you are earning over $100,000 a year and riding only weekends.
@@Colt-Forty5 If you are committed to buying a diavel, most definitely buy the 2019+ diavel 1260 or the 2016 Xdiavel. That would be my suggestion. The Gen1 and Gen2 are not all that great. Very fast and fun but quality is below average.
@@TheMarcosdeo Like buying a Yacht, i also found out too late, a Ducati does not just require 10 to 20 thousand bucks to buy. You need another 10 to 30,000 Bucks to replace parts and maintain with! A Ducati is an expensive toy AFTER purchase,. It is more expensive to keep than to buy in the first place. Much like a Yacht, that will cost you more than the Yacht itself in maintenance and fuel and Marina costs over a few years. They are not for people who have enough money to buy one, they are for people who have twenty times more money than that, so they dont care to buy it for 20,000 and repair it once a year for 15000
@@AjarnSpencer I totally agree with you. Ride it like a jet ski. I now own a 2017 Harley Dyna for 6+months now. So much better then the Diavel. Cheaper to maintain and better at cruising with good power for the street.
Becareful when you reach the 30000km and above... Ducati, harley davidson and triumph are not as reliable as the japaneses... I sold mine at 25000km when the early signs and sympthoms to break down came.. Good luck with your ducati
even Harley now too seeing as all of these bikes are made with parts made in China, electronics fro Pakistan, and assembled in Asia. Harley new 500 Asian Market only is the same engine tank and frame as the Benelli leoncito both made in China same factory same frame same engine different stickers
you should try the vmax 1st gen or second..the first gen was produced forever and I was original owner of my 01 and when i sold it it had 68,000 miles and still ran as strong as the day I bought it and better with jetting 4x2 exhaust, never smoked nothing but the tires. tires, lights, and starter is all i ever had to touch..I am surprised you say this about the ducati, while i have never owned one I thought these bikes were top notch...
charles b Vmax was my 3rd choice but I test ride it and did it like how to bike felt in the corners, vmax it’s The faster cruiser., at the end I stayed Japanese and got my 2017 M109r boss
boomboompow none., get the X-Diavel apparently they fix all the issues the had with the diavel and make this one better, people had less complaints about the X-Diavel., my personal opinion GET SOMETHING JAPANESE
i will only say.. only buy one if you are not going to fall off it or damage it, because if you do, the parts replacements will be more than buying a Harley
Definitely not a bike for poor people. It is the Ferarari of bikes and people think because they can afford monthly payments they should be able to own one but they don't have the money or the knowledge of bikes to own one.

The simple fact you were doing wheelies on a muscle cruiser is probably why you've had problems. Get your R1 back and do the huligan thing. This bike is not meant for that.
I have a 2016 Diavel...lots of Ducati Performance parts...Termi exhaust. 13,000 miles. Really no issues. The big service was expensive, but it's a Ducati. I still love the bike. If you are having issues due to wheelies and burnouts...don't do wheelies and burnouts! I also have a 1299...I love that too. Is it expensive to maintain...yes. But worth every penny. If you want a boring Jap bike, get a Honda. Just saying 🙂. Sorry you have had issues with this bike but not sure this is the norm.
i heard a lot of bad about it, with the panigale, the first diavel is my dream. I rode it at 21 years old at a test drive. It was the batman bike. all in dark. loved it back in time.
Love mine you should sell yours get something else I have had zero problems and the dealership calls me about once a month to check but to each their own

Used bike. Can never know how the previous owner treated it and it could’ve been a lemon for him. All manufactures build occasional lemons that constantly have problems.
rubbish i bought a new Nightshift and the front fork seal broke at 100 km and threw me off i a speed wobble Ducati's fault bad assembly line work, Ducati refuse to admit it and want me to pay 300,000 Thai Baht to repair a 430,000 Thai Baht new bike, e month after buying it. XXXX Ducati and their CEO for SE Asia GINO the bad mannered arrogant buttbag. They didnt even honor the warranty when it arrived with a faulty mirror assembly a 5 sided allen on one side closure and a 6 star key on the other mirror, and the mirrors doing 360 revolutions round the handlebars could not tighten them (inserted backwards by some idiot in the factory).. they refused to reassemble or accept warranty claim. So warranty means shit with Ducati
