I ride a 2007 GV650. LOVE IT! Will leave a sportster in the dust when the light turns green, low center of gravity handles great in the twisties. Styling makes some people sure it is a new sort of V-Rod. Will do 50 in first gear, tops out at 120. I had to seal the tank, and eventually had to replace the charging system. BFD. I got it done. I had to replace the front brake pads. That's not a whole lot of wrenching for a bike that's fifteen years old.

Depends on where you live and local laws I suppose. I ride classic Jap iron. My bike is a 1983 Honda VF1100C aka V65 Magna. It is cheap to tag and insure. I live in rural Texas and the average speed on main roads is 60 - 75 mph, 2 lanes. The 1100 loves to pass and does it quickly which equates to safe when combined closure speeds are circa 150 mph. I won't ride a 250cc class bike because of that. Big city commuting, yeah, I can see that. I hate city life and not a fan of small bikes. Count me in on that "unfamiliar" segment. I am certain there is a 250 cc fan base out there but I do not know a single one of them. Unless you count dirt bikes! All my boys ride those. Did, they both own Yammie 426s now. There is no replacement for displacement. :-)

Im from Denmark an I bought one 9years ago an that bike was the best starter bike ever. Bought it used with 2.000 km on it, an it was like less than half price of a new kawashaki 250- Its was at the time where its was Kawa Ninja 250 all the way, an i smoked my friends on this. It was new, cheap in issurance, an pretty economic in gas! I was 6.2 feet at the time an felt very comfortable on in. Think i did 0-100 in arround 6 seconds :) The biggest problem is the disrepsect when you talk with people about motorbikes, but i consider to start riding again, an i whould deff. consider buying Hyosung again. I learned to drive on a Kawa Er-5 an i didt felt it was worse made. At the end every bike can be great or bad, depends on how much you take care of it.

Last year I swung by leg over a 2009 Hyosung GT250R with it being my first bike and used it as a daily commuter for about 7 months. I felt like I outgrew it in 3. I wanted something for the freeway that allowed me to pass with no problem or speed out of the way and this wasn't it. I will say that it's an alright street bike, which is what it feels like it was meant for. However the center of gravity for this thing is pretty damn high which makes it feel a lot heavier than it is and it's easier to fall over/harder to catch because of that. We got it for $1000. And for a $1000, it'll take 6 drops, oil changes, brake changes, and whatever trash you can throw at it and still start right up. Parts are more expensive because they're Korean, but damn its been a decent bike. Ended up upgrading to a 1999 Suzuki GS500E. Next bike is a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard S50. Ride safe guys.

Also it gets almost 70 MPG and has a 4.5 gallon tank so thats 300 miles to the tank if you are riding conservative. BEST PART is that i only paid 2900 out the door for tax, title, tags, and inspection for a bike with only 6 miles!!!! I bought mine at CLASSIC IRON motorcycles in virginia, they have plenty on them. People just dont know, all theyve ever known is Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha. They have been around for a while, just dont have a big customer base in the US. I have put 1000 miles on mine in 6 months and its doing great and i love it, just do your T-clocs before every ride. NOTE this goes for any new bike or car, you should NOT ride it to its limit at the very least for the first 500 miles,... Some brands require much more than that.

AmeriCan'ts don't get it! This is not a starter bike, nor a beginner's bike; it is not a girls bike either! Grow up! It is a high gas mileage bike, very fast, great for commuting, and cross country touring! Get it now? I am 6'4" 440 lbs, and one of my bikes is a Hyosung GV250 Aquila. It does 85 mph, with me on it! In supper high head wind, it can be harder to keep up to 55, and the Rockies would pose a bit of hard work too. But, those situations are limited to a couple of hours at most in cross country treks! No big deal. Gas mileage is recorded up tob85 to 115 mpg highway! At 440 lbs plus 2 full side bags, I get closer to 50 to 65 mpg! NOT BAD! 440 LBS FAT BEEF! LOL The new BMW G310GS is a 310cc with only 33 hp, 71 mpg! That is almost twice the money too! $4799, compared to $2400 or 2700? There are other bikes which do well, like Royal Enfield 500 Bullet 85 mpg 90 mph, but one cylinder! The BMW F650GS OR CS is high gas mileage - 72 mpg - but a one cylinder too! That means less low end torque, yet more that a 250 or 350 one cylinder! I am all for lower displacement bikes, for taller and bigger people! I want super high gas mileage, to traverse continents for nearly free! Gas is so expensive in some countries, by the way! We are really spoiled! That is how their countries afford Socialism/Communist! No body thinks of that! I have a CVO Harley Davidson, gets 29 mpg! Or, 34 mpg highway! My Jaguar Vanden Plas European Luxury Sport Sedan Long body x350, smokin' fast rocket, gets almost that good a gas mileage - and I can live in that car! LOL Think about it! I'm a huge guy, chiseled out of stone, rock meat muscle, and love these little gas sippers! Thanks Rabbi Joseph

Ive been riding my 09 hyosung gt250r for 4 months now. Its straight piped and sounds insane for a 250 twin. I get 150miles ( 300+kms) on a tank of gas that costs me 18$CAD to fill ( i think thats like 13$USD . The one thing i HATE is when i get on the highway im pushing 10k rpm to pass somebody. 7k at cruise. I wont go on the highway for more than an hour at a time . Im buying a concours 1000 tommorow. (Ive owned a few f4is and an r6 so im familiar with real power) the hyosung was super cheap to insure though. My girlfriend hates being on the back and im an adventure guy( owned dirtbikes all my life) i wanted an enduro. But again.. thinking about the wife! A goldwing was on my list but theyre like 800lbs and an absolute schoolbus. Hoping the concours will be the perfect cross between crotch rocket and touring. Thankyou gor coming to my ted talk

I'm off to buy a 2011 ATK GV250 with the V-twin made by Hyosung and was worried about purchasing a Korean bike, however I hear the later years are much improved from previous bikes and this one has Japanese Mikuni carbs. Just worried no one will work on it when I need repairs. I've already called 5 shops...they all said "no." It's a gorgeous cruiser with an orange/black paint job and long fenders like an Indian Chief. Under $2,000 and 4K miles. Don't think I can say no to this one.

@7316bobe

I had one of these and it never gave me any trouble. I could cruise at 70 mph with no problems. I sold it because it had very light wiring, some of which only had 4 strands of wire inside the plastic insulation. They get away with this by having relays for just about every thing. The light wiring goes to the relay and a short heavy wire comes from the relay to whatever it is operating. Heaps of relays and heaps of fuses. I traded it on a Yamaha V Star 650 which is a much better motorcycle. When I rode the Hyosung it just felt cheaply made. Every thing is plastic even the fuel tank just to keep the price low.

My 07 carbed 650 is fantastic. I prefer it over 600cc bikes due to the aggressive torque curve. I geared it down a tad -1+1 tops now at 125 in comparison to 145 stock. I don't only keep up too 100 I'm usually ahead only too get passed after. No gut's on top but below triple digits it is a force to be reckoned with. 12k miles currently.

Having ridden bikes of 750, to 1000cc's for the past 40 years, it's fun too get on smaller displacement bikes. I have an 87 rz350, and it's a blast, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy this bike. It is a nice looking bike as far as I'm concerned. Part of the enjoyment for me is also working on and maintaining my bikes myself, so the aspect of keeping it running isn't an issue as far as I'm concerned.
