In America idiots use thier surron's racking up 10k+ miles on it and selling them as much as they are new. But you’re right tons of people are selling thier used bulldogged surrons and I take it to buy the brand new ones. My rule of thumb is to never buy anything used, most people sell thier problems
I just ride my talaria everywhere and don’t act like an idiot and it doesn’t seem to bother anyone. But I have talk to all the local police and state patrol and they basically don’t care as long as you ride sensible and respectfully.
You’re lucky man i wish the UK was the same!! We’re too soft over here to have anything fun allowed on the roads like this unless the government owns it and charges people to use it🥲🔋⚡️
@@Flamma777 yep. I tried to run without it when I first got it but you get a lot of stuff flung up at you. After the first ride I put it back on and it hasn’t been a problem. Cops generally won’t bother you as long as you obey the laws and don’t be an idiot. Been commuting to work all summer and it hasn’t been an issue at all.
Just had a look, they look decent batteries, problem being i’m from the UK so getting one shipped over here is very difficult due to high risk of danger when shipping. I appreciate the help though man!! 💯⚡️
Luckily I got an 18-hole golf course and a flat 9-hole added on, that's shut down. I have an electric bike that can do 45mph which I can take anywhere, but still have to be careful at speed. I think about a surron, I know it's better than a mountain bike but its ability is not to take anywhere.
That is lucky man sounds a great place to ride!! You’re right a surron whoops a mountain bike for enjoyment of riding it’s just annoying finding the “correct” places to ride. Hopefully more places become available to ride with the popularity of them and the other electric bike options! 🙌🏻🔋⚡️
It is all preference really, depends what you like the looks of and how it feels riding. I think a new light bee x needs to be made to keep them relevant with the competition available! 🔋⚡️
Seen hundreds 😂However, there are plenty of pubs in the UK that will back up the notion that the British affinity for mindless violence is indeed not always linked to anger.
I just bought a purple 2024 with 40amp battery. I was debating holding off but most dealers I talked to said Surron does small incremental upgrades and don't have per say different years/versions. I ended up just buying one instead of waiting.
They started doing the 40ah battery on 2023 models and that was because they are using different cells that aren’t quite as good as the 38ah batteries so they upped the ah to compensate for it. It’s been “hinted” that a new LBX will be released at some point this year with a whole new look and potentially bigger battery voltage to compete with the other bikes in the market!!
@@vardanfitness7866 I feel like Surron needs to do this to stay relevant and to compete with other companies at this point. They will soon lose customers if they don’t! I love my surron and wouldn’t consider any other bike for now!
@mattfrancisofficial The only new 2024 surron pictures I've seen are from redditors who've gotten the pictures from alibaba dealers. Basically they're the L1E version with the Ultra Bee headlight setup. Is that what you're referring to?
Loved the video mate. With all the new features, would you recommend buying the 2024 Surron? I own a dirt bike but I'm looking into an electric bike for daily use as I cannot ride my current bike in most places due to the noise.
Yeh i actually agree, if you’re coming from anything more than a 125 then you’ll be disappointed by the speed, although, 72v surron is something else!! Just expensive. The E-ride out the box is great but needs a controller and battery upgrade to gain more power if you want to upgrade the speed/power at all!💯🔋⚡️
When i got mine all i received was an invoice and receipt from the dealership i got it from. With the LX1E i presume there would be more official paperwork as that is the road legal option.
Do you think $3500 for a stock 2020 Surron with 300 miles is a good deal? The new ones cost 4600 here. I am debating on buying a used surron or just saving more and getting a newer model when they come out maybe like you said. Thanks for the insight 🤜
Get it new. From built e bikes if you’re doing it online or do it locally in person. You get a one year warranty on your battery and you have a completely brand new bike. Like someone else stated the battery has been sitting for 3+ years and if stored correctly it wouldn’t lose much life span but if not then.
Yeah i’ve seen more of these about recently! Never knew they existed until a few weeks ago. My stock battery with the torp tc500 is running 8600watts so it doesn’t sound very powerful for a 72V!! Looks very similar to a surron too! 🔋⚡️
Hi just about to buy a sur ron lite bee but new to it all but want the road legal version. Is there another make qhich is as good if not better for the money? Thanks
I want buy the new e ride pro ss how i can ger more speed new motor batery or .....? In stock have 72 V and 12KW is better than a sur ron but using a 32KW motor?
If the E ride pro already has a 72v battery then its the controller that will be limiting the power but you need to do some research on how much power the battery can out put! 💯🔋⚡️
Just had a look as this is the first time seeing it. Looks very much like the surron and E ride pro. Probably would perform the same as a surron and e ride. I think personally that companies need to get more creative with designs instead of copying and slightly improving bikes that are already available 🔋⚡️
It’s hard to create a good, fresh new design. Without getting into copyright issues. Look at the newly released RERODE R1, you can tell there starting to loose ideas and design something unique
I hear you but in my opinion they aren’t safe enough on the road. Not around where i live anyway unless you majorly upgraded it. The top speed of a standard surron is approximately 47mph (as tested in previous videos) most speed limits around where i live are 30-60mph. On a 60mph road cars would constantly be trying to overtake and get past as well as tractors and lorry’s. Riding at full speed constantly would also drain the battery far too quickly. You would probably only get 15 miles at maximum if riding at full speed. Wouldn’t be worth investing in for me. I like the light bee X for where i ride and how i ride. For cities and large towns the on road version would be ideal as a general commuting bike but expensive compared to other options.
I disagree, my arguments were quite valid and relevant. Any bike can be road registered here in the UK! If it doesn’t have turn signals, headlight or rear light/brake light then it can only be registered on a day time MOT but it can still be registered for on road use.
Canals are owned by the Canal and River trust (a private ran company) who grant access to the public. Therefore not public land. Not council land. Not even government land.
@@mattfrancisofficial And, their policy is: “E-scooters, motorbikes, modified e-bikes and other unauthorised vehicles are not allowed” Throttle controlled E bikes are classified as a mopeds and therefore you should’t be on there. It’s that simple and you know that; at least just own it and say you don’t care.
@MrBonjuna Is the Sur-ron type bike really needed? Like I live in the States, however, if I lived in the UK I definitely wouldn't search out an Surron, Talaria or E-ride pro at the current battery prices. If I had known about the LMX brand of bike, I wouldn't have purchased the MX-4. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L4jLB8hgLIE.html
Personally i wouldn’t be upgrading just yet. I would wait to see what the major changes are and make a decision based on how much surron change the LBX. The older models are still very capable bikes and the money is better spent upgrading it in my eyes ⚡️🔋
You’re not wrong! Only thing that scares me about chain drive is when jumping the bike the belt has a bit of play and stretch to it where a chain would be a bit more solid. The force of the chain being pulled tight would put pressure on the jack shaft, jack shaft bolt and all the bearings in that area. So it’s a debatable one but for now i’m happy with the belt and only ever snapped one in a year and 4 months of riding.
Just discovered your channel. love it! i got my 2024 surron 3 days ago and it has some cool updates to the 2023 one. i got an all black version, battery with now only 1 big plug, rear conversion and bigger sprocket in black as well. i even drove 400 miles by car to pick it up LOL. keep up the good content mate! greetings from Germany
Thats crazy man! 400 miles to collect it! That is dedication. The updates on the 2024 versions sounds cool. The single big plug must be a game changer for the battery too. I hope you’re enjoying it as much as i enjoy mine. Thanks for watching the videos and i appreciate the kind feedback! Plenty more to come soon. Ride safe 💯🔋⚡️
Aha thats decent but that wasn’t the point i was making. I got mine in October 2022 when it was £4695. My local bike dealerships have them for around £3700. The point I was making is there are better bikes available for slightly more money but out the box they have way better parts and bigger battery and higher AH.
@mattfrancisofficial all good brotha. I just got the 60v40ah for 3600. Was looking at a pro ss but for 2400 more after tax ill stick with a light bee. I have motorcycles if I need more speed.
Haha that is a fair point!! Depends where you are from as well. Anyone in the UK that has one will have imported it themselves from either USA or elsewhere. They will be more available in the future! As for getting hold of them to get the bike fixed or repaired, it’s the same with Surron. Trying to get hold of them to claim on warranty or even register them for warranty is a waste of time. I tried to register mine within the first day of owning it from new and never received confirmation that it was registered. Luckily i’ve had no reason as of yet to try and claim it. Anything that has broken i have either upgraded or replaced myself so far!
I’m buying a 2024 Surron Light Bee X through a honda dealership for 4300 pre tax and ttl/coo. They put a 72w on it, replaced the belt with a chain, new digital display, plates, break lights, turn signals, head lights, and street tire. In texas you can register it as a moped or dual register as off and on road use but then it would be classified as a motorcycle and need for a m1 license; you don’t have to register it just don’t be stupid and they 5-0 will leave you alone. It does depend on local law so each city in texas is different just go to your local municipal court and they’ll let you know the rules and regs for your area. Don’t screw it up for the rest of us who want a good commuter/trail bike. If you wanna stunt take it to the parking lot. Less restrictions and regulations for us is better.
Yea everybody piss on surron lately, mainly because e ride ss but there always gonna be a newer bike so in the next year e ride going to be an old crap xD. I like my surron and mods that I made so I would not trade it for another model, even more said I am real amateur so 72V is not yet for me. Lets just wait and watch when kids in the USA start buying 72/80 or even 90V ebikes and start killing each other on the streets, than we gonna get worldwide ban for ebikes 🤣🤣
Yeah i agree, just to clarify this video wasn’t to piss on surron either. I love surron as a company and i love my light bee and wont be changing it anytime soon!! Haha you’re right though, the more power they have the more danger is involved! Hopefully that’s not the case. Ride safe my man💯⚡️
Regarding surron, they should offer configurable models, where you get all the power mods done by them with their own parts, and so you don't waste your money (by paying for stock parts you will replace). We also need companies making and selling blank frames (but good beefy ones like surron style) with some standard battery slots and motor/controller mounts so people can easily and cheaper build those themselves. Yes you can import surron frames from china but those are like half the price of the new surron so overpriced and then you need to go onto hunting all the weird one of the kind parts. Regarding riding, I think governments go about it the wrong way, we want the pEV/small EV industry to grow as it's green, they should update the law so that those can be used safely on the roads, there should be no power limits just speed limits, imagine you're a big fella and they force you to go uphill on a 350W ebike, cars are not power limited so why should the ebikes be, speed limit is more than enough. They should also relax the speed limit laws so that ebikes dont force all cars to have to take over, for example the existing 15mph limit is for riders with no helmet, but it can go to 25mph if they for example wear helmet and do some free online course. The governments try hard to go green and at the same time they basically bully the ebikers, and as a result people willing to ride safely cant ride those, and those who don't care think to themselves if they break the law they might as well go 60mph on a 25mph road, so it ends up just worse.
i disagree, tho 72v is tempting, it's too dangerous to accelerate with that kind of power. Surron should be used for exploration, not for everyone to become pro daredevils or Sam Pilgim RU-vidrs. The standard battery is fine and that means the belt (and everythign about the bike) should last longer.
While I agree with you its more the range bonuses that interest me. I would like more power but you’re right, it’s not exactly needed. 8.6kw with a stock 38ah battery and torp controller is plenty of power for fun. Although, i’d love to have the power available for it to be ridiculously powerful when needed for example racing with friends or the extra kick of adrenaline 😁💯🔋⚡️
Its a hard choice, find which one you like the best!! In the UK you need a license to ride on the roads and ideally you need to ride on private land!! 🔋⚡️
Great video, keep it up. So, my opinion on this: I'm from Germany and I got my Surron X L1e 2023 at the start of December. I've put on 1700km since then, cleaned the chain at 1000km but nothing else. The good thing about the Surron for Germany is that it comes as the L1e version, which makes it street legal as a 50cc. It's cheap insurance to get a license plate and also includes theft protection - you pay this yearly. The Surron is capped at 45KM/H; the good thing is that if you go off-road, you can switch to the off-road setting and go a bit faster (no need to cut the green wire). This way, you can ride these street legal without worries about annoying cops; they love to see it - Surrons are pretty rare here in the capital. Anyways, I'd say for Germany, the stock Surron is the best option since all the others are not street legal (you could probably make them, but then it costs more).
@@Jason_B. so L1e means its street legal , so capped at 45km/h , lights and all that. The good thing about 50cc is that its not counted as a big bike aka just a moped. Means way cheaper insurance and no two yearly goverment checks. The Surron ultra and storm be come in as full size bikes so you gotta add light license plate holder and so on to make it street legal which is probly not hard to do but in the end you got a full size bike and you gotta get a normal license plate for it and so on. So id say Light bee X L1e is perfect for the netherlands too if you are fine with it being 50cc but way cheaper overall costs. You are set for the street and offroad, you can uncap her and make get go 70km/h without any modifications. If you got questions go ahead (:
Thats awesome man!! The road legal version would be a great option if someone would want to have it road registered!! In a city or large town it would be an awesome mode of transportation. The reason i dont have a road registered one is i live out in the countryside that involves using busy main roads to get to anywhere and the surrons just aren’t fast enough to be considered safe. Maybe with a 72V it would be able to keep the speed up but 50mph is a horrible speed to sit at when cars want to go 70mph!
Great shear TY I have a stock out of box Segway x160 :( I want to up grade battery, controller and increase the front tier to something like a 17". I want to do e-bike camping with solar panels and laptop. I need saddlebags. There also might be small amount of snow on shoulders of trails/roads. What typ of tire is fair for dirt, asphalt and sand/snow IE super motor wheels ? Or sell it and get a Talaria Sting r or something ? Any thoughts ?
@@mattfrancisofficialthey’ll soon be banned there putting it through parliament due to all the thefts using them and illegal ride outs .so we’ll have to wait n see but they’ve started in USA n Australia
I dont really ride on the road tbh mate. Best option is to avoid road riding altogether but i guess if you ride sensibly and respectfully then you’d get away with it, until you dont get away with it haha.
Very horrible points, talaria feels like a cheap ass surron as I have ridden both 😭.. the e ride pro ss is only good if you don’t want to upgrade it because your never going to find an upgraded battery for it since the frame is wider. The surron upgraded to 72v is better than basically any bike.. 😂
I agree with you surron is the best option still. I’ve barely ridden a Talaria but based on looks alone the surron wins. The E-ride pro is basically a surron anyway with a 72v battery but a surron with a 72v upgrade would crap all over any other bike. The point of the video was telling people who are looking to buy new to wait until the 2024 version becomes available to get the best bike they can for their money🔋⚡️
Recently got a Telaria Sting R can honestly recommended them ! bit heavier and seat positions different than the Surron but wow its got way more torque and is definitely faster stock ! Better suspension And no bands to snap just oil change every 2/3k miles cant complain!
they havent improved much I got a battery and controlller for less than 1000 us dollars. and the markup on these items are insane you can just use a primary chain drive instead of a belt and sprocket on my sur ron
Defo always buy LBX as you get the masses of upgrade parts .. Iv never snapped a belt ever even at 25-30kw got to maintain the correct tension and don’t let it cake up in mud
Do you ever do jumps at all?? I’ve done 2 belts now due to jumping and heavy landing but my belt pulleys are wearing down now making the teeth sharp which leads to more belt strips/snaps!
I’ve heard the talarias can be a bit noisy in that sense and the batteries are awful for rattling. Torp is the way forward!! Regardless of what bike it goes on it’s an incredible controller 💯🔋🔋
No idea if I’m honest and i doubt it ever will as i believe its an American bike so i doubt they’ll be bothered about selling them over here as the surrons are already so big!
Correct, they do! I’ve found the belt seems to want to snap the most when jumping. The heavy landings definitely take their toll on the belts. If it’s purely for road purposes it will last forever no doubt. 🔋⚡️
The surrons light bee S is the youth version, its got a lower voltage battery and more restricted controller so its less powerful and aggressive than a surron light bee X. Also the forks are not triple clamp forks they are more like standard bicycle forks, not as strong and made for a lighter weight rider. Ideally you want the surron light bee X for the price difference its worth it. Surron have actually stopped making the light bee S too so it will be harder to find them brand new! 💯🔋⚡️
It’s just not worth it for how fast they are. I would need a bike that can sit at 60/70mph easily for where i live and the surron just cant keep up with those speeds.
the lbx is more optimal and can heandle off road better than the xxx but the xxx has better brakes and is easy to ride, the lbx has a more powerful motor and better suspenisons and if u get bored of the 50(80kmh)mph it comes whit u can upgrade it whenever u want beacuse its a very much tested model and safe to ride as for the talaria xxx there are not many parts out for upgrade or even repair. So my final recomandation is to buy a lbx.
Exactly what @yoda6805 said. For upgrading its got to be a surron all day. If you want a cheap easy standard bike the xxx isn’t a bad option. The battery placement on the xxx annoys me though as i prefer to remove the battery to charge. 🔋⚡️
@@mattfrancisofficial i mean if u can spend another 400-500 hundred dollars u might as well buy the talaria sting r ,that is a different beast for its price.
I have ridden in the rain and wet conditions and it really doesn’t make a difference. Washing the bike is where extra care should be taken but as for a rain its not a problem 🔋⚡️
If we’re speaking technically then any canal is privately owned as the land and waters are owned and ran by canal & rivers trust which is a privately owned company. They just grant the public access to use them. Wether or not we should be riding electric bikes down there is a different story so lets not get into that😂😉🔋⚡️
I think they’re cool but just a copy of a surron with some improvements. All these bikes are very similar just with some changes, it’s all preference at the end of the day and i’ll be keeping my surron for now🔋⚡️
Just a vid aht ranting but if u dont wanna upgrade and keep stock what a perfect boke to have I personally really enjoy it and would not change it for any thing esle
Each to their own. I just took a look at the enduro S8 and it looks cool but i personally prefer my surron just by looking at it. I wont be changing bikes any time soon. 💯🔋⚡️
They are even more useful to have when riding off road though! Its a bike made for fun and enjoyable riding more than commuting, thats what cars are for🔋⚡️
@@mattfrancisofficial definitely mate off road they are great as you wont need to worry about it getting stolen,im talking about street use I really wanted one to ride around the roads but it's not worth it as it will get stolen
Thanks man, personally i have had no troubles with police. Only ever 2 or 3 people have a moan at me for riding it and that’s out of hundreds if not thousands of people that i’ve been past when riding!!
I am going for orange accents on my Nami Burn-e! I really want a Surron, but they cost over 8K+ by time you get all the mods that you kind of want and need eventually, stock surron gets boring fast I been told by everyone that owns one. also, if you are stock, people shit on you for having stock surron, its an expensive hobby for sure.
Ignore what the people say about stock Surrons. They are definitely good enough out of the box for a long while even without any upgrades. I only started with small upgrades to strengthen area's such as the foot peg brace and a bar light for better visibility in the dark. I don't have mega money to spend on my surron especially after buying it brand new, I just buy what I can when I can. It is an expensive game but I ride with so many guys who have done minimal upgrades and still ride stock power, stock controller and battery and they have as much fun if not more than I do!! It's nice to have the best bits on the market but they aren't needed at all. they are fantastic bikes out of the box!!!
@@mattfrancisofficial appreciate this reply mate. I’m deffo looking into getting one. I don’t want used either, I want it to be new as I know people ride them hard.
You’re not wrong but its the same having a motorcycle. Its such a big target for thieves and more maintenance and cost keeping it on the road. The surron is everything i’ve ever needed🔋⚡️
All surrons come with a belt drive from standard. I wouldn’t let this worry you about them, the belts are plenty strong enough to last a decent amount of time when maintained properly for example the belt pulleys need changing every so often as the teeth get sharp and thats what will cut through the belts! In nearly 2 years of riding my bike i’ve only ever snapped one belt!
@mattfrancisofficial thanks for the reply :) I ride sxs and atvs with belts so I'm not too worried lol. I've watched videos of the sur Ron lite bee going fast over big Rock rough trails etc. Can they take all that abuse?
