Good video, thank you! In 'soccer' Adidas began making cost cutting measures like this in the mid 2000s. I recall that 2002 was the first time 'player issue' versus 'replica' became a widely-available retail option, and within just a couple of years it was the case that the nearly-double-the-price 'player issue' shirts weren't the same as what players wore! Shocking to see it in hockey where fans are paying even more insane prices.
this is bang on. they charge so much and it’s not even player issue. in the football they have a new kit every single season too. they also makes 3rd kits when they’re not even needed.
I genuinely miss the Reebok Edge's (even the indo-edge's) compared to what they have now. The few authentic, made in Indonesia Adidas jerseys I have don't have names/numbers for this very reason.
Yeah $249 for single layer vinyl is a rip-off. The Kraken Team Store, while they do heat-pressed the jerseys in-store, at least use double-stacked twill for $269. They look okay visually, and I have Beniers and Gourde home jerseys made in-store, but I also have blanks in both home and road that I plan to get them hand-stitched at Seattle Tackle Twill Lettering, the company that the team officially uses for their on-ice jerseys.
Thanks for making me aware of this. I am coming to a kraken game from Texas and was going to wait till I got to Seattle to buy my jersey as I was thinking it would be authentic stitched numbers. But now I’m debating on that due to them basically using fanatics numbers on an adidas jersey
Ya, the first time I saw those in person at a mall in San Jose a few years ago I was convinced that the store was selling fake merchandise. I then realized that this is how Adidas sells their authentics, with that single stitched vinyl or whatever it's called crap. It's honestly criminal that they do that and market it as "authentic". Definitely needs to be more said about this. What I would say for anyone out there, buy the jersey blank and get the lettering done somewhere. If you're a Sharks fan in the Bay Area, I would recommend either buying the jersey at the SAP center in person so you can see it or ordering blank and then bringing it to the team store at SAP where you can have them get the authentic lettering done for you.
I have noticed on all newer jerseys, esp baseball, they are using painted or color screened vinyl instead of embroider now b/c it cheaper to manufacture. I noticed the Blackhawks shoulder patches on the Rebooks are that way, they used to be stitched. Everything new now is all junk looking and charging the same prices or higher. When I go looking, I hunt for the old school shirts, CCM if possible. They are the best quality and fit jerseys ever
@@slapshotjack9806 yes, get over myself because I believe a company who is claiming to be selling jerseys as “authentic” and what is worn “on-ice” shouldn’t be going cheap with vinyl numbers when that is not near what is actually worn. Yes, I will make sure to get over myself. Have a great life!
@@tonymeehan7859 I agree! Unfortunately, these companies are strictly money nowadays. I understand that the whole point is to make money but there should be some pride in your product which there is not anymore. That is why I usually go for game used/team issued when the price is good.
Yup. The only Adidas authentic I have with customization is a Hawks Toews and it’s the same garbage quality. Thankfully I only paid $50 because it was a clearance climalite with the toilet bowl neckline. You can get the higher quality names and numbers, but they cost more. If I ever want that, I’d go with a shop like Hockey Authentic.
I am about buying an Authentic Adidas jersey Retro Reverse from another team and in person but from now will definitely be blank. So it's not only a scam by what I've just listened and seen but much more because those are so expensive...
Yeah team stores charge full price and probably higher than retailers at times. Almost 9/10 you can get these jerseys elsewhere for cheaper if you are patient enough!
Swingman numbers, disgusting. The print on the numbers will chip/take damage - it will look particularly bad if its' on colored numbers. I would rather wear a blank, which is cheaper.
I was looking for my first NHL jersey last weekend (July 2024), first of all shocked by the prices. And personally i'd always go for a 'blank', so no name or number on the back.
@@REZRECTION yeah I haven't bought one yet tho, still think it's a waste of money. Maybe sometime in the future i'll just get the Pittburgh Penguins blank one.
@@REZRECTION mmm, you have any websites as a recommendation? I really couldn't find them that easy, then again it was my very first time looking for a NHL jersey.
I just bought the Adidas authentic jersey (Stamkos) from NHL Shop and it was the same. Also it was completely heat pressed besides the logo. That is prolly fakestitching you see here aswell, just like in my jersey. I live in Europe and thought that if I order from the NHL store, I would get the best quality possible, but after research, I was so wrong. Fanatics customer service in general is shit and this was a utter disgrace. I feel like I was scammed by NHL shop. Do yourself a favour and NEVER ORDER FROM ANY OF THE "FANATICS EXPERIENCE" SHOPS. I personally aint buying anything from them anymore, next jersey is gonna be from Coolhockey, Hockeyauthentic etc.
That’s a darn shame! I’ve bought authentics from them in the past and they’ve come with the authentic twill on the letters/numbers etc. However, I was really shocked to see the burns in the store with those horrible numbers and letters.
I got a caps fanatics jersey a few year's ago an honestly the fanatics jersey and Adidas kinda look an feel the same almost like you're wears a t-shirt...my nationals jersey is heavier lol
@@REZRECTION probably by design...I'm goin to a wizards game Friday at capital one arena if the capitals team store is open ill go in an look at the authentic to see if its the same issue an I'll send you a picture to compare
Those should not be called authentic’s if it not the spec’s or quality that the players wear on the ice than it should be called fan gear (hockey pads don’t even fit with these jerseys) it’s a shame that the market has turn to this and people buy this junk
Hi! I just got a Vegas gray Shea Theodore adidas authentic. The number 2 is peeling off a bit on the back and the shoulder how do I fix that? Iron? Glue?
Friend, do you recommend any ebay seller or online store to buy Reeboks and older jerseys? I only know ONE seller on eBay with affordable old jerseys. THANK U
Thats Made in Indonesia Not Canada, Not Authentic! Adidas Has Replicas and this was one of them. Authentic Jerseys are Made in Canada and you can tell the quality difference!
When ever I want an authentic fight jersey (the one with the strap on it) only Reebok made then . Long Live Reebok . I’m a Bruins fan and Bergeron on the winter classic video even said it was too tight . That’s why I stay away from Adidas from any jersey. Sizing are wrong heck even Nike has failed at the sizing and jerseys unless is an NBA one.
as far as I'm concerned, Adidas jerseys are horrible junk to begin with. For starters, there sizes run a size smaller than Rebook. I bought a MacKinnon shirt, I have to order a 3XL size 60. in order for the pit to pit to fit me....then that makes the sleeves too damn long!! Secondly, the sleeves in general....they look like and actual shirt sleeve...they are so narrow compared to the Rebook/CCM where you have all kinds of pit and shoulder room to move in it. Thirdly, the neck line....what a mess. The V-neck on the old school shirts are so much easier to get over your head....these Adidas ones, its like a t-shirt, its too constricting around the neck. And speaking of the neck, the design of the trim around the neck, looks like an actual shirt collar in its looks. Look at the Penguins/Blackhawks for example....it looks like they have colored wing collars like a dress shirt or polo shirt. They are the worst design ever, and this Fanatics brand isn't mush better either. CCM/Starter/Rebook are a way more superior brand as far as design and comport are concerned
Yeah that is one bad thing about the Adidas jerseys with the pre stitched numbers. That's why I rarely buy them pre stitched. You're almost always better off getting the blanks and sending it in to get it stitched professionally (cool hockey and other websites or local places like that). But yeah it sucks that they retail for around $225 $230 or so and that's the quality we get.
They are 2 types of authentic jerseys adidas makes. Indonesia made ones and made in Canada ones. The Ones that the players wear are the made in Canada ones. The Indonesian ones are the fan authentics. The jerseys that have the double stiching on the elbows are the authentic ones. Which are made in Canada. And the made in Canada ones are much heavier material.
None of these are "authentic". They're all replicas because they're not on-ice quality. Don't let the false marketing fool you. What you're looking at is factory vinyl customization when what you're wanting is handstitched twill.
Jerseys that are plated at Adidas have that awful vinyl kit. However, there are some jerseys at the Sharks Store that have been done properly with a twill kit. If you’re aware of the differences, they’re easy to tell apart.. the big tell being the stitching you referenced.
Yes, I have seen some that were correctly done at the team store. Though there should never be any inconsistencies with this type of stuff. People will feel like they’ve gotten duped.
I got a Adidas Vegas Golden Knights jersey in 2019. compared to the other Jerseys in my collection its insane. $230 USD did hurt when you put that in New Zealand dollars. it was a big hit. compared to my Rugby and cricket replica shirts it's miles ahead. but also like 5 times the price. so many shirts these days opting for cheap vinyl printed logos and the stitched logos are a forgotten art especially with sports teams in New Zealand. Sad times for jersey collectors! To think that my Vegas jersey could have been that little bit better is mind blowing 😮
Amazing Adidas even TRIED dis BS?!?!? This is Jersey Blasphemy!!! They had to upgrade in the recent year versions. They use actual multi layer tackle twill on the current season jerseys...
Exactly, when I saw this I was shocked, and utterly disappointed! Luckily I am not far from the SAP center so it’s easy for me to catch these type of things!
I think they are attempting to mass produce in a small amount of time, at least with non-customized jerseys. There are many great companies out there that provide authentic quality stitching, i.e. Cool Hockey, Hockey Authentics, etc. where you can send them a blank jersey, so that's an option.
That’s the best option to go with at this point. I almost sent in my 30th anniversary sharks jersey to the store to get customized, but thank God I didn’t pull the trigger with that option!
Actually Rez a year before the Stars came to Dallas, we had a minor league CHL team called the Dallas Freeze was the classic sharks uniform. I will send you a pic on ig
So two things. One: I’ve looked through Reddit threads, and it appears that the NHL as a whole doesn’t do the double twill lettering on their jerseys. Which does suck for consumers… Second thing: the only way for me to get the bruins reverse retro is to buy the authentic. Sportsk is selling them for 160 though… which is far easier to convince my self than 240 is
Buy a blank and have Hockey Authentics or similar add the customization ends up costing about he same or in the Rangers case $60 less than the false advertising garbage they sell through NHL or at MSG
Yes Adidas is the Authentic jerseys and the Fanatics is the Replica jerseys but I do have Adidas Authentic jerseys of my local teams in the New York metropolitan area, Tri-State area of NY/NJ die hard New York sports fan, my Adidas Authentic jerseys of the Islanders, Rangers, and Devils, home, away, and the Reverse Retro jerseys are all blank so I'm good I really don't like to have a player name or number on the back anyways it's more money plus you don't even know if that player is gonna be on that team for a long time or the rest of his career so I'm good with a blank NHL jersey doesn't bother me and the best part is the crest/logo on the front.
Blank hockey jerseys look dope imo. Imo one of the best styled jerseys without a player/number on the back 🙌🏽🙏🏽 Salute to ya’ll all the way in the NY 🗽 🙌🏽
***Adidas authentic jerseys aren’t worth purchasing for $200 + they’re nothing like the reebok authentic jerseys from years prior and are a complete rip-off. Adidas and the nhl are ripping these fans off lol. ***But the actual adidas game worn jerseys are way better than the authentics they sell to fans and extremely similar to the old reebok authentics. If you can’t afford the meigray gamers or made in Canada gamers/ authentics. Just save your money man frfr 💯
I ordered a stealth EK65 from fanatics back in January and then immediately returned it the following day. That vinyl crap sucks. I got a better quality and pro stitched off of BenH on reddit for a lot less. Adidas factory numbers suck.
My solution Rez, just buy a blank adidas and then send it to canada, (river city, coolhockey) and get the letters and numbers professionally done, It is a little more $$$ but worth it.
yeah bought a supposed authentic one from fanatics. heat pressed and didn't even include the alternate captain "A" patch. how in the F are you going to call that authentic when it's not even close to what's worn on the ice? safe to say i went full karen and got a full return and full refund for everything. adidas brand looks cheap as heck too. ive decided ill never buy one of these. will just stick to wearing my old reebok ones.
I got an adidas authentic from the NHL website and thought it was fake. The quality is garbage compared to the old reebok jerseys. I returned it. It is swingman quality. I also hate how they are slim to wide at the bottom like a dress.
My god how the hell are you even supposed to get the double stitched then if every single fucking vendor seems to do this???? So frustrated since I just tried ordering an asg jersey from fanatics
You still can, but you should check them out in person first to confirm. If you don’t want to take that chance, your best bet is to go to another customizer who can get it done for you.
Dude! You were totally right. I'm gonna explain my experience. I went to one arena and Authentics retro reverse with name and number were NO stitched!! Looked like yes in appearance BUT no, I check the inside. However...! the Fanatics jerseys (No retro reverse version) had stitched numbers and name... Definitely I got my retro reverse blank instead!! I could also check how bad quality looked the tshirt like and some hats too!!! Definitelly no sport quality clothing, just barely "cheap" (they are not) trash... Congrats again for this helpful video!
That’s exactly why I suggest going to the team store in person and checking them out yourself, because you never know if you’ll get super into buying the cheapely made quality/numbers and letters! Glad I was able to make this video for you guys!
I have an Adidas authentic Ovechkin jersey and I hate the fit. I feel like I'm wearing a gown. It's tight around my chest and then crazy loose around the waist. The quality is fine, it's the fit that I hate. I'd rather get a old Reebok or a fanatics than Adidas
I think the adidas authentic expensive one are to hang up on the wall as collectibles then the other cheap one is to beat up on and represent thats what I'ma do just looking into jersey bouta buy my first one this Christmas
Only MiC (made in Canada jerseys) are truly authentic. Anything from retail like adidas "authentic", prime green, or fanatics brand are all made in Indonesia. Made in Indonesia, even though they are called authentic.......are really not authentic. If you want the closest to what the players wear on the ice, they must be MiC (made in Canada). Very expensive if you buy MiC, but well worth it.
Very true! Unfortunately the MIC jerseys cost an arm and a leg so I can understand how people would choose to get adidas “authentics” or even the fanatics route! Appreciate you sharing your input! 🙏🏽
I know what u mean the hockey hall of fame in Toronto I was gonna get a lightning jersey to jus kinda remember my visit there so they had a stamkos jersey and the numbers on it was the papery thin crappy single layer material and nhl shop is a toss up either the materials are ok or there this same material as the stammer I looked at cuz of this I only order from hockey authentic or coolhockey never been disappointed by either of them
That’s good to know there are people out there that can help bring us top notch quality for these hockey jerseys. After seeing what I saw at the team shop was totally disappointing!
@@REZRECTION oh yea I can’t say this was an issue when Reebok was making the jerseys. First time I seen a jersey with the not so good material for the numbers I thought it was a fake being in Canada jerseys are expensive enough I don’t wanna worry about getting shitty material
Let me know something. I've just noticed that the stitching from the crest logo (shoulder patches are okay) are not high quality!!! At least on the Authentic Retro Reverse version. The threads are very thin and seem easy to break with a couple of uses or friction. I am getting disappointed not only with the fit (tight chest, huge hips) but also that. I think fans are being barely scammed these years with the NHL jerseys they buy, not the same quality as 2 decades ago.
The authentic adidas hockey jerseys are very poor in quality IF comparing to the older CCM, NIKE, or KOHO days. That’s just the reality of it. The best thing would be to get jerseys directly from Canada if this is the case, but unfortunately, the price point and obtainability are very difficult for most people (myself included). It’s a matter of preference at the end of the day.
@@REZRECTION Ikr. About Canadian jerseys, I used to know the seller Jersey Baron on Reebok era (Edge 2.0) but nowadays I'm not sure if anyone is also selling these Canadian Adidas. Thanks for the reply! Have a nice day
I have a customized blackhawks 2019 winter classic authentic adidas jersey and it has the single stitch your talking about on the name and numbers as well and I got that at the CBHS here in downtown Chicago and they send they’re customs to to the teams actual stitcher. But then I have a reverse retro adidas authentic from the hawks as well and the numbers are double stitched but not the name, and I got that at dicks sporting goods.
@@REZRECTION tbh it never caught my attention but then again I’m new to jersey collecting and noticed what you were talking about when I seen your video so thank you for the information. In the future I do hope double stitching is applied to all the Adidas jerseys not only will that be better for the jersey in quality but it looks way better at least in my opinion.
@@REZRECTION I checked as soon as I saw this video, both primegreen jeresy Crosby 22 Away and 22 Third Jersey, have the double stitching and everything. My climalite from last year 2020-2021 home penguins jersey isn’t double stitched. And the logo on the chest is even different so I might update my home jersey for the Penguins and give the climalite to my dad or something. I’m as you said, paying for something I want to be premium, and the climalite apparently ain’t it.
Seriously, the authentic jerseys aren't worth it. I buy the "crap" fanatics jerseys because... they're all crap, so why waste my money? I rep my team just the same and spend half the money.
@@REZRECTION well as I said (and you said) the Adidas authentic jerseys are crap so what quality are you talking about...? Accuracy, yes, I agree. But Adidas is making a killing for making an inferior jersey. If I can't tell a difference between a Fanatics one then why waste money on an inferior product? That's my point. Personal preference of not wasting my money.
@@davidsmith9 everybody is entitled to their opinion. Adidas is not the best quality (if comparing to older counterparts I.e. Reebok, CCM etc.) but it’s definitely an upgrade compared to fanatics. But to completely dismiss fanatics would be an unfair comparison as it’s much for feasible for the average joe’s pockets.
Hello, it's actually quite simple. I have more than 20 jerseys made by Adidas. 2 MIC. The Jerseys which have a lower quality for the numbers are the jerseys of the 1st version of Adidas made in 2017. The Adizero which have the plastic Adidas "pods" in the bottom of the jersey. The most recent version, the Primegreens are practically perfect! If the numbers have more than one color applied, the different layers are double sewn. Well beyond the quality of the numbers, the quality of the logos is the day and the night between a Fanatics and an Adidas! There really is a lot of detail in the authentic Adidas logos. Especially for the Blackhawks Jersey! For the Primegreen versions Adidas redid the team logos to create a 3d effect. That's wonderful! The material of the Jersey is not the same between an Authentic Adidas and a Fanatic. Adidas is a material that looks like a hockey jersey for those who have already played ice hockey. The logos between a MIC and an Adidas there is no difference. Not in the versions I have at least. MIC are only available at auction. Otherwise the MIC are thicker. There are resistance seams at the elbows too. The MIC are not comfortable . I have CCM, Koho, Reebok and Starter Hockey Jerseys. Adidas are by far the best quality Jerseys! It is true that the Adidas Authentics are not the same as those worn by the players. But the price is $200 Canadian. The Reebok MIC was on sale for $400! the version that was found just after the Jersey MIC was also priced at 200 when they were manufactured by Reebok and the quality is lower than Adidas. I put some Adidas "Authentics" to play hockey and I have no problem! they are resistant, they breathe well and do not retain perspiration.
I just purchased an avalanche retro 2018/19 alternate size 54 off ebay. I got screwed I think cuz it's way bigger than my 54 retro 2.0 one. like the sleeves are 8 inches loner than my hand and it's a dress. like wtf? idk if it's fake but thanks for the video
Really important video, thank you for sharing this message. I got a Bruins Authentic Bergeron jersey for a cheap price, but same experience with the numbers and letters…no good quality
@@REZRECTION thank you! At least the logo on the front is really good quality stitching. But will be more cautious going forward, thanks to your video. I Appreciate it!
Real authentic jerseys are always made in Canada. The dimples on the adidas jerseys are extremely pronounced. It sucks that Adidas doesn’t actually sell the real jerseys that the pros wear on the ice. It sucks.
Crazy! Yeah, I have 2 home jerseys of the same team, and I noticed on my climalite jersey that the numbers are thicker and they're double stitched. On my primegreen, the numbers seem flimsy and are not double stitched. Got both of them from Fanatics. Super disappointed 😞
@REZRECTION so, I figured it out. I just bought 3 more jerseys and the jerseys in your video with the single sticking is a primegreen, numbers are flimsy and seem cheap where as the climalite is a more authentic feel with double sticking and thicker numbers. They are both authentic, just made with different materials... like the primegreen is made with recycled materials. So people, pay attention to what kind of authentic jerseys you buy. There seem to be 2 or 3 different types out there. Hope this helps
