I have 3 of them . Have worked great for 3 yrs . But are very tricky to set up . What I have found out can be your connection to the 6 volt battery .

I’ve had one running for 6yrs straight. Changed batteries once. It’s been awesome for me. Except figuring out how to set it.

My brother and I have had 3 to 6 (depending on the number of stands we want to fool with) of these running for the past 5 years. Hunting hogs in Florida swamps and in GA. The units we have have have been the best of all the feeders we have had. We had a number of other brands but nothing has been as reliable, taken as much abuse or lasted as long as the Sunslinger feeders. Too bad that This one did not work for this person. We have two that after 5 years of continuous running have finally had the motors go out. We thought about what other brands to get, but have had so much trouble with other brands that we are going back to the Sunslinger. The same kind being used in this video. Our biggest problem is not squirrels and other creatures getting into where the corn is, but raccoons hanging from the feeder and pulling it off the bottom of the feeder. Screws, toggle bolts were all pulled through. Strong creatures, I don't know how they do it. But we put 4 light fence posts around the barrel extending a few feet below the bottom of the barrel and then enclosed the whole area with 1/2 in hardware cloth. Problem solved. The cage on the new model does not look like it will prevent that from happening. A smart coon will just pull the feeder off and down comes all the corn. I will also warn against plastic barrels as we had real problems with flying squirrels chewing into the barrel and then getting trapped inside and jamming up the feeders. Bottom line, I do not know about the new design and this video does not show it so I can not speak to this. I just know from experience that when properly programmed these feeders throw corn farther and have been more reliable than any other feeders we have tried. I was actually searching for the best price on two replacements when I found this video.

I’ve had mine for 7 years only replaced battery once. The new replacement sun slingers are plastic. Metal ones are best. No feeder is perfect.

One more thing, always have a volt meter as part of your tool kit when you are working on any feeder or trail cams.

Get a good quality 12 volt feeder system, add a solar panel and be done with your problems. No kidding.

I have the same one, cows bent those cheap legs and it came down with the weight bending the other legs as well. Barrel was still good able to savage. I had to weld some plates for 10ft solid metal tubing legs, checked motor, got out there to ranch motor didn’t work. Bought a spin tech today. Complete garbage all the way around I pretty much custom made my own feeder. Don’t buy this junk!!!! Beware
