Why buy the 16, when the 17 will be better, but why buy the 17, when the 18 will be even better. This is a stupid argument, you can say the same thing every single year 😂😂😂
Literally you: 2020 - DONT BUY THE IPHONE 12 2021 - DONT BUY THE IPHONE 13 2022 - DONT BUY THE IPHONE 14 2023 - DONT BUY THE IPHONE 15 2024 - DONT BUY THE IPHONE 16 Can’t trust this ‘tech’ channel at all. Much better videos on the new 16s (which haven’t even released yet, may I mention) than this piece of garbage.
@@Benveniste1822exactly. Seems like he’s making the video for people who upgrade every year. They are gonna upgrade either way. This video should market to older phone holders.
funny thing is that companies releasing things every year isnt supposed to be big upgrades, they are more there so someone can always upgrade to the latest thing anytime they want to without the fear of buying something outdated
I went from the 11 to the 15 and it was not a huge upgrade. It wasnt an upgrade at al, nothing changed except for the battery life. The camera is barely better and i already own a $500 DSLR. There's rarely a genuine reason to upgrade if im being honest. It's literally the same product as all the phones share the same software. Batteries can be replaced and instead of spending $1k on a tiny camera upgrade, just buy real camera
@@eddieBoxer wow, what an optimistic perspective! I like that part where you said “You live in the present don't worry about tomorrow because tomorrow is not guaranteed” You see this how you should've written
I’m upgrading from a normal iPhone 13 to a 16 pro max , you can’t tell me that’s not a big upgrade at all , I understand it is stupid upgrading from an iPhone 15 to 16 but for the people who have older iPhones it is more than a big enough upgrade
I still use an iPhone 8, but I need to upgrade this year. I’ve kept putting off since wanting the 12 mini and then waiting for the 13 mini and then waiting for the 14 mini that never came… and so on. But I’m getting a 16 Pro this time for sure. LOL when the phone still seems good enough it’s hard to justify buying a new one. But I feel like the Apple Intelligence will be something I want. I don’t think I can wait another 6 months or so for the SE4 to come out.
Because the SE will be out next year. No wait he said cuz the 17 will be better (no sheeit). No wait he said cuz it’s not a major upgrade. No wait at this point I don’t know either.
Apple RU-vidrs are a joke, and they don’t care about behave like a fool in front of us every year with these video about “wait until the next model”, “This time makes more sense believe me” so the previous videos were not so serious??
@@lol-ge9bh You realize that pricing can vary greatly amongst western nations as well? Like in Canada and Australia? They often have to pay more for tech because the prices arent adjusted for their nations always.
@@lol-ge9bh What do you mean? I‘m a German European and in my country a 1TB iPhone 15 Pro Max (just as an example) costs €1949,- (that’s about $2133,-!). In the US the same iPhone would cost you $1599,-! So there is a great difference!
I was ready to pull the trigger 2 years ago to upgrade but I think 17 is actually the way to go overall. It’ll be a entire new look and I feel the upgrade is well worth it. I’m glad you actually made a video saying this. Honestly as much as I’d love to have a new phone but as long as I can still surf the internet, make calls, take simple photos, and still utilize some apps on my phone I’m good. It’s not like we’re missing much and people who probably want to upgrade don’t really need to upgrade and it’s more of a gloat factor of what they got. Can imagine people showing off their new home phones like it’s something impressive back then.
I’m upgrading from the iPhone 7 to 16. That’s a huge upgrade for me. My 7 is outdated and the battery depletes quickly. Some of the apps download the old version and some don’t work at all
I trade in and pay the difference on our three phones yearly for warranty. Do not believe in their insurance but agree Apple needs improvements. If Steve Jobs was alive we would be so far ahead . Tim Cook does nothing for the company.
That's what I keep thinking, I can't bring myself to upgrade when my 13pro is seriously in mint condition not a mark on it. The battery health is 88% I'm good until the 17PM 100%
@@erolshoehle i have an iphone 12 mini too. do you also have the issue that when youre texting someone the input is lagging so the letters i typed first appear after the letters i put in after? so its not Hello but lloHe. not sure if its the chip or a software issue..
I'm personally going to be holding out. I've been on the 13 mini since it dropped and honestly I'm pretty happy with the phone. I don't like carrying large phones around in general so unless apple makes something in a smaller form factor I'll likely be carrying this around for quite a while.
I am using iPhone 14 Pro and was told by one these RU-vidrs to wait until the 15 Pro came out. The only difference in my opinion is the type C port apart from that everything is the same. The iPhone 16 pro has some better upgrades even from the iPhone 15 Pro and when Apples AI is launched on it, it will be better suited to the 16 Pro than the 15 Pro as it was designed more for the 16. The battery size, speakers, screen size, A18, screen toughness, phone size, minimal bezel are all different than the 15 pro model. The New Apple AI will work better with the 16 Pro in my opinion over the 15 Pro. The 15 Pro to me is just a 14 Pro with a similar style to the 16 Pro.
Apple straight up lied to all of us they said trade in a iPhone 12 or newer and get 1000 off go to the website and they are only giving 650 for a 15 pro max !
Considering the design has not changed people assume the iPhone doesn’t get better, since we have had the same design on Pros since the 11series (2019). But with the base iPhones since the 11 series has looked similar as well, with the exception of moving the camera modules in different positions. Since the X era we no longer have S years. The 12-13 felt like the same lineup with the 13 being an S year basically fixing all the issues with the 12s. The 14 lineup brought new features like satellite connectivity, a huge camera improvement, and so much more. Making the 13 feel like an incremental upgrade. The 15 lineup feels like an S year as the base iPhones obtain the island & the pros got a button. Nothing exciting besides just a usbc port. But all around the 16 lineup feels like an S year for the pro again, while the 16 gets major changes. But internally year over year they’re implementing small changes. I stopped the yearly cycle after the 14pro. Especially while they reused chipsets for the 14 base model, and the 15 base model. Putting the 14pro in a better place for updates. I am noticing they’re listening to feedback for some areas in software. Such as customization. But have been lacking in the changing alot of basic apps. Why is the camera app the same it needs to be redone. So my point is it hasn’t mattered for about 4 years what Iphone you have purchased. They are more or less the same. I will upgrade this year or the next couple of months to something, as it’s cheaper than doing a battery replacement. But its very compelling to just choose a 15 over the 16 if its cheaper, and the phone really isnt that different. Or just get an SE4 when it comes out.
@@Mr.Charles73you know you’re still paying for it right? They just spread it across your payments. You’re phone bill would be 25-35 cheaper if you weren’t. Just look at your bill.
I will be coming from a yellow iPhone 14 and by the time my contract ends in August of ‘25, I don’t know if I’d have the patience to wait for the 17. Since the 16 would be the last phone of this current design, I’d want it. Reply what you think.
I was planning to upgrade from a 13 pro to a 16 pro Max. You certainly give me a lot to think about, so rather than being totally negative like many of the comments on here, it certainly always worth considering what you’re going to gain in terms of your usage of the phone. Personally, I would rather have a phone with no camera whatsoever, a display, but fast operation. I should say at this point I’m totally blind. One thing that really tempted me to upgrade, is that using the right headphones with a built-in digital analog converter, apparently you can get lossless audio straight out of your iPhone by using a USB cable. I can’t do this with my 13 pro. Being a complete audio nerd though, this would be brilliant. Cheers Rob.
I have a Xr…I’m not in a hurry to get an iterative upgrade…. I’m Gonna wait. Anyone that says they have to get a new phone and has a working phone is either spoiled or stupid….if you want a new phone you do you…just don’t say you “have” to get one.
My android phone is 1 and a half years old, I usually get a new phone every 3 years, but as of now my 180 dollars android phone has its camera broken on both sides, idk if I should get a phone which is iphone in 2025 or 2026, if I am getting I'll get one which is a pro model and use it for 5 years, my screen had broke because it fell on the ground, I tried to repaired it from a place which did it for only 15 dollars
I will be upgrading from iPhone XR 2018. About 6 years together. This phone never let me down, in fact we are writing this comment together right now. Love you babe ❤ Lol that’s kinda cringe. But for real this phone keeps rocking no matter how much hell I throw at him. I dropped him like +300 maybe way more idk. We go hiking together a lot, visited around 20 countries together. Fun fact we had a motorcycle accident together and he survived and detected the crash and called the emergency for me 🚨 bro I’ll never let you go, we just gonna be 3 best friends soon!
To be fair, I still have a 13. I need the upgrade, lol. I love all things tech. It definitely is true that it has a lot of similarities to the 15 Pro, but as both a gamer and a photographer/animator, I definitely wish to get the best I can if possible! After all, my PC may not be top of the line, but it is very close to top of the line.
You might want to consider making videos for more than the 0.5% mad enough to consider an annual upgrade to their iPhone. I for one come from an iPhone X and to me this is a substantial upgrade. Roughly 2.5 times the CPU speed, 4 times the GPU speed, drastically improved photo quality, way better battery life.
As someone who has a 13 I think that USB-C better cameras new tech new buttons and all thst is what I need. And idk if I’m getting another year out of my current phone the battery is fried 😂
I have an iPhone 14 Pro so I’ve waited two years to upgrade as my iPhone has a one terabyte storage. In reality the 16 Pro would give me the extra buttons to work as a DSL and the 48 meg wide camera which I do use a lot. Plus if the rumors are true 5 times optical which is a huge plus for us camera operators. Therefore I can’t see a reason to just upgrade to a second hand 15 pro.
I agree with what you say, I have a 15Pro and see no reason to buy the 16Pro as IOS 18 will be just as good on my 15Pro. Your video just confirmed with what I was thinking. I shall wait for the 17Pro next year.
I’ll wait for the iPhone 18 Pro Max in 2026 or early 2027. Got my 15 Pro Max in February 2024 after the hype died and got a discount so good for a couple years at least.
Have had my iPhone 11 pro max for the past 5 years already and i’ve been holding on from upgrading for so long, and since what I currently have right now is my first ever iPhone. I’ve kept it nice and clean and been doing my best to keep it as good of a condition as possible. So I guess I could hold off for one more year, but for the next one… I will finally upgrade for sure!
Already traded 13 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max with a great trade-in credit from Verizon plus been a 20 year customer within they gave me extra money so basically I paid nothing for the 15 promax
I’m on a 14 right now, I’m going to wait to upgrade. The new colors of the 16 are nice looking and Apple had me looking really hard at the beauty of the product but I’m not biting on the 16. Will wait for the 17 or later.
Agreed, if I was currently using an iPhone 14 or 15 it probably wouldn't make a ton of logical sense to upgrade to the 16. However, iPhone 13 and older it makes perfect logical sense. In addition, I doubt the 17 will have anything worth waiting an entire year for, especially if what we know about the 17 so far is to be taken with a grain of salt.
I beg to differ I'm rocking a 13 Pro in mint condition not a mark on it battery health 88% I'm keeping mine until the 17th at least I can't get rid of her she's perfection still.
It's mainly a software upgrade that they're limiting to newer models. Which means, if you're on a 13 or below then it's worth upgrading at this point simply for battery longevity. If you're on a 14, then you can upgrade if you want the newest apple intelligence features. If you're on a 15, there's literally no point in upgrading since the features are available straight away. Heck, i'd even say just buy a 15 if you're upgrading! Take advantage of the price drop due to it not being the latest and greatest.
I am going to keep my iPhone 13 in product red,I don’t see any point in upgrading to iPhone 15/16 because Apple don’t change that much between iPhone models except processor, ram and camera. My thinking is if it’s not broke don’t fix it.
My daughter has an iPhone 8 with a cracked screen. Wanted a 15, I said, "Wait a month for the 16", should I just say NO, you must keep waiting until 2025?
If you really need the upgrade get the iPhone 16. If you can wait to see what amazing features are to come next year, get the iPhone 17. If the iPhone 8 is not in good shape anymore then get the iPhone 16. The iPhone 8 is out of date anyways which isn’t the best.
This definitely sounds like upgrading is needed. honestly with the promotional deals nowadays, pricing is relatively economical. What I did is I bought a iPhone 11 Pro Max., paid it off and then when the 12 Pro Max came out, I traded the phone in and got up to $800 off the brand new device. And do that every year now. so I am going to trade in my iPhone 14 Pro Max that I paid maybe $600 for getting up to $1000 off of the new iPhone 16 Pro, so basically a $1200 phone for the cost of $400. This is the best way to upgrade., you pay off your device then you wait for the promotional trade-in option when the new device is released. So yes, trade and get the iPhone 16, investment wise. It’s the newest phone and will hold its value the most between the other phones.
@@josepacheco9479 I have the iPhone 6...yes just the plain 6, no plus. The iPhone 6 is the only phone I have and use for 10 years now coming September next month. I am 51 years old and I joked with friends that once I upgrade to the iPhone 16 that might very well be my last phone for good.
Paged quite a few comments. Not a lot of people are commenting on the ability of the USB C port. One can attach quite a lot of items to it. I connect a flash drive for saving files. Also I connect the Teenage Engineering OP 1F and the TX 6 with absolutely no issues. Down side of old iPhone’s not able to update to new firmware, battery dies quickly. I’m using the iPhone 15 Pro Max and I’ll be getting the 16 Pro Max, so there.
Maybe, you should consider making videos for the appropriately 90+% who didn’t update their iPhone within the last 2 years. I’m coming from an iPhone X, so to me, this is going to be a substantial upgrade.
Well I bought it, my last phone was 5 years old anyway. Every time you tell me to wait for the next one the phones have reached their potential. All we will get is incremental changes from now on
I mean, who upgrades from a 15 to a 16? Like, how sad exactly is your life to upgrade yearly? If you're using a broken iphone 11, BY ALL MEANS...UPGRADE!
I usually upgrade every year. I missed the 14, but that was it. I use my phone more than anything else I own. If the 16 comes with the rumored mic improvement, that alone is worth the cost to me. Or the x75 modem made service a little more reliable.
I’ve got an iPhone 13 Pro Max right now and it does everything I need very well but I do plan on upgrading this year specifically for Apple Intelligence. I’ll likely upgrade to the 16 Pro but I may consider getting the cheaper 15 Pro depending on how the Apple Intelligence features are disbursed to the phones. I’m more excited about getting an Apple Watch for the first time. I just really hope the battery is now at minimum 24 plus hours.
I’m coming from an SE 2020 and before that I had an original SE. So honestly if I buy ANY of these phones newer than my own it will be a huge upgrade lol
If there is a technical problem with iPhone 16, then I’ll agree with your advise. For those with iPhone 14 n 15, I can’t see you need to upgrade your phones to 16. I have iPhone 12 Pro, I can wait another year for my upgrade, because my phone is still running good, I think the battery is going to be changed next yr n therefore good time to upgrade.
I really really really have disliked my 13 straight out of the gate. I got used to it and for a short time thought maybe I hadn’t made a mistake. Then I heard the buzz from some longtime iPhone people that said that even Number phones are always better always more functional have less issues than the odd number. Ironically, I went through a ton of iPhone 5. Got an iPhone 6 and decided when a friend was upgrading that the 6+ or whatever it was was insanely cool and swapped to phone after repeated failing. From there, I jumped to the 13. Now very close to three years ago and I can’t wait to get rid of it! Or at least keep it only as a back up forward since it’s still supported. Having said all that that do I just buy a used 14 that’s incredible shape instead of going for the 16 or do I take a risk and wait for the 17 and see if I don’t throw this thing up in the air and shoot it with a 357 frustration because 13 is frustrating as heck!? Or like he suggested a 15+ used at a reduced price… Again, I’m a little skeptical but the odd number years with my experience with the five and the 13 do I really want to go to a 15 possibly strike out? You guys please give me all your thoughts. I need good solid advice. PS never going back to android so need some good advice. Thank you.
I had an S22 Ultra and was told not buy the S24 Ultra... that it was just AI features and less screen glare and nothing big... bought the S24 Ultra and it was so much snappier, quicker, better camera, better speaker, better battery life, better screen. I was shocked at how much better it was.
When I went from the 10 to the 13 pro max, man was that an upgrade. The brighter 120 hz display from the 60 hz. Macro photos, and the best battery ever! Now going from the 13 pro max to the 16 pro max I’m not even excited. Oh wow wifi 7, gotta have at least gig internet and fork out the money for wifi 7 routers to even use that feature. I was excited for a way bigger battery and 100x digital zoom but now that none of those are a reality might as well wait for the 17. Or should I make the switch to S24 Ultra??
I just remember how much of an upgrade it was the iPhone 3 going to iPhone 4 and the iPhone 8 going to the iPhone X. Apple should focus more on revolutionary upgrades even if it takes a longer time to release
It’s amazing how a tech company has sold the world on buying a new phone every year. I remember when we all used rotary phones and didn’t buy a phone for years until the one we had broke.
Lol it's funny cause you said don't buy the 15 pro last year and to wait for the 16 pro. Tbh iPhone 16 pros are a great refined update from it's 1st version being the iphone 14 Pros. It'll have the new best battery life in an iphone since the 13 PM, a bigger and better screen, and all the updated specs in terms of wifi, charging speeds and transfer speeds etc. I'm happy that it's finalized and will be getting it. I'll upgrade again in years to come when they make the best final design of a new model. The line lineage for me so far is Iphone 11 P, iPhone 13 PM, and now iphone 16 PM. The 19 or 20 will be my next upgrades down the line
I have an X, I thought about not upgrading till my phone is barely usable, but I have accidentally broken the camera, it will randomly starts working within 2-3 weeks and stops working within 1-2 days and same process repeats. So after watching this video, idk if I should wait or buy it. Plus I’m not in a hurry in buying a new phone as well. I’ll think about it.
I upgrade every yr because I have kids and for me getting a better camera is a must. Quality of the photos on the 15 pro is outstanding. Also I like to get better battery life every yr. I only skipped one iPhone generation since the first iphone. I take great care of the current iphone and sell it or trade it in.
Reasons 1-4: Not that big of an upgrade, wait for SE / 17 / 17 Air Reason 5: 15 has better value Note that you’ll be able to make similar arguments every year. While it is a good advice not to upgrade every year, if your phone does need an upgrade, there’s nothing wrong with grabbing the latest one.
I can agree with the thesis statement if you are upgrading from the 15 series... I own an iPhone 12. I am needing a new phone anyway, as a filmmaker the 16 pro offers enough to warrant buying it over the 15 pro... Call me crazy, but none of the rumours about the 16 series actually came about, and they were just repeat rumours for the 15 from the speculation season from the year before... Ima buy what I want no offence. But yes, if you don't need an upgrade then no reason to.
I think getting the 15 pro used is gonna be the best deal. Might go 15 pro new just for insurance but I've had good luck with certified used/refurbished in the past so if the price is right I'll go used.
Yes you are right , DO NOT BUY IPHONE, i using iphone 13 promax, today it suddenly black screen but the phone still in working , i can feel the vibration. Never a second thought, i straight send to apple service center and i ask the staff why im so unlucky, i very take care my iphone, no dropping, no overnight charging and no charge exceed 100%,(follow the instruction) why my iphone can spoiled out of sudden??? and the staff replied "there really an issued on Iphone13 pro max". I totally dilema , and now on i NO confidence with iphone.
I'm going from 15 Pro to 16 Pro because I want obviously, but there's one huge reason. To upgrade this year for 256GB 15 Pro to 256GB 16 Pro will cost me £250. Next year won't get that, looking at 14 looking at £500 rather than £800. So you're not actually saving anything, that correct?
What I learned . Buy a phone with the most amount of storage you can get and keep it as long as possible . I still have iPhone 12 128GB which was a mistake . Should have got more memory ! Everything stored on iCloud and videos pretty much take ages to load up , if they ever load up . My gf has an iPhone 14 Pro and there’s a noticeable difference with processor speed , screen as well as camera compared to mine. I feel like the 12 ‘ stresses’ the eyes and the 14 makes reading much easier . I’d imagine the 16 to be better . So from a 12 it will be a significant difference and I need the extra memory !
Remember part of the storage holds IOS, along with system files. Also, a portion is used as "virtual" memory to help the onboard ram make multitasking easier. You have a ton of pictures taken and videos as well, you will need to move them to the computer or get one of those Idrive by Sandisk. If you registered icloud you will need to get off of that 5GB free shit and pay for 2TB for $9.99 a month.
I'm a buyer of iPhone 17 Pro Max IF it comes with a 2TB local storage tier. Local storage is my prime determinant of purchase. If it doesn’t get a 2TB storage tier, then I'll likely upgrade my 14 Pro Max to a 15 Pro Max (with 1TB local storage) for the Apple Intelligence features. That'll depend on how compelling are the other 16 Pro Max features.
The time for the big steps in mobile telephony is probably over. If you have a newer phone that works perfectly fine, it will cost you a little over 1,000 dollars (here in Norway) for a new phone that gives you very little extra.
I'm upgrading from 14 Pro Max to 16 Pro Max. I want a phone that can take full advantage of Apple Intelligence. I also like the capture button. It will make the phone more user friendly for taking pictures. I know the Action button can be programmed to do this, but it's location on the phone makes it kind of awkward to use. I will finally have all my Apple products but the keyboard on USB-C/Thunderbolt port .
I have an iPhone 13, and I don't want to upgrade this year because iPhone 16 still has those pathetic 60 hz. There are rumors that iPhone 17 will finally bring a higher refresh rate to base models, so maybe I'll buy it. If not, I'll buy a used pro model.
Tbh so far those IP17 rumors look way too wild and I’m still having 12. I wanted to upgrade to a renewed/refurbished/or something 13PM or 15Plus this year. I will still evaluate between 16 lineup and 15 before attempting any decision making for next year (I will only buy anything that long term when I’ve passed the last two exams and keep the job) but ain’t waiting for that 17air-whatever just yet.
Upgrade once every 2 years, trade your phone in get a watch or AirPods, maybe save up for a laptop. I once upgraded from the 12 to the 13 and seen no real difference, got the 15s with my girl and we’ll be getting the 17s
1. If you want to upgrade to 16 (not pro) then it’s probably not worth it especially with 17 air coming. 2. If you already own 15 pro it’s not worth it to upgrade since there is no major difference. 3. If your iphone is 14 pro you could upgrade if you want the apple ai otherwise it’s not really worth it. 4 if your phone is anything lower than 14 pro it’s absolutely worth upgrading to 15 pro unless your phone is still in great shape or the 15 pro is too expensive for you.
