This video captures my point of view on HONDA NX500 pricing and positioning. I picked engine configuration and compared it with other similar adventure bikes in India.
When we compare HONDA NX500 against ROYAL ENFIELD HIMALAYAN 450 or KTM Adventure 390 then nx500 stand no chance. You can get two himalyan 450 or Adventure 390 in the same price and would save little bit as well. Then I started to compare it against twin cylinder adventure bikes in India and then understood the positioning.
Other twin cylinder adventure bikes are Kawasaki Versys 650, Suzuki V storm 650 and TRK 502. Versys 650 and V storm justify the price difference as they offer lot more for the price they charge. NX500 and TRK502 are similar in spec and price and match very close to each other. So finally, among twin cylinder advs HONDA NX500 seems to be the most value for money bike currently available in India.
Only one this to be mentioned or I wish for is that Honda should have given it about 55bhp then it would have been a good differentiation with single cylinder advs. That would have made HONDA NX500 a strong bike to consider. Right now it will still be compared with Himalayan 450 and Adventure 390 as the power figures are very close.
However, once anyone buys a HONDA never regrets.
