I really Don't understand why people say this, The Valve Steam Deck sounds like a great deal tbh. First time in a long time I look forward to a new piece of technology
The whole “my back hurts from carrying a laptop” thing is just the worst excuse I’ve ever heard. I made it through 4 years of high school carrying a backpack full of textbooks around all day, and then did 4 and a half years of college carrying physics textbooks around *WITH A LAPTOP TOO*
I have a high end PC and plan to upgrade soon. But I just want a Steam deck so that I can take my games on the go with me. ( I guess I could buy a high end gaming laptop instead but I dunno)
@@supermario863 Yes, it is beneficial in that way as well. For me, I’m mainly a console player, usually play on my Series X and I don’t have enough for a high end PC, so the Steam Deck will help in the long run.
@@supermario863 I have a laptop but I am getting a steam deck because I don't want to carry my laptop and the charger and the controller or mouse and keyboard because my laptop runs high end games great with the charger plugged in, but without it God have mercy cause it runs like shit. And with the steam deck it solves my problem sorta and I can't wait for it.

There is no preordering. Put down a Deposit and get one. First come first serve basis. May have to wait a couple months after release to receive one, but that's better than scalpers owning all of them before they even release.

@@elecjack1 the switch lite is borderline unplayable. My sister has one and I've tried using it and it's horrible my hands are to big to properly grab it my sister got games given that she can't even play its really bad
@@theeragon8797 my hand cramps when I play the switch in handheld mode with the joycons, so when I'm on the small screen i use a wireless pro controller. Lol
I mean I get the "feeling bad because I made a crappy decision buying a Switch Lite when I could've bought a Steam Deck" but why shit on the Deck? Just accept it and move on.
Bruh I got a Switch lite because of Pokemon remakes coming out and still going for the steam Deck 512 gig version. There's just some games the Deck won't have access to and I won't bother emulating because of the online factor.

@@broskiwhyyy6373 i don't agree with the last statement. The steam deck is appealing to people that want a gaming pc but either don't have the space, the time or the money to buy a decent one.
For me, the only reason I'm playing any Nintendo consoles is because of mainly Mario and Pokémon. If those games were on- say the Series X instead, I would instantly swap over. So as a Nintendo fan, I hope the Steam Deck absolutely slaps Nintendo into creating a more powerful system.
idk if this is a hot take or anything but i think that gyro aiming is perfectly fine for competitive games or FPSs. in a lot of games i think it feels best for aiming.
People are scared when their favourite device gets threatened. I think the Steam Deck is incredible. I reserved one until I impulse bought a Laptop... and now I don't need the Steam Deck for portable gaming. Yes, the Steam Deck is better for portability, but I can't beat the laptop I bought. But even saying that, I still love my Switch also. Wouldn't trade it for a Steam Deck.
When I look into see if something is worth getting or not is Linus Tech Tips. He had hands on with the Steam Deck and he loves it. If he believes it to be good, I think it will be good.
@@ghostlegit Is not worth trying to scalp when Steam has such a great reservation system going on. If anyone buys a Steam Deck from a Scalper, they're fools. And I already canceled the reservation. I didn't need another device. That Asus Laptop I bought is amazing. 8 to 10 hours of battery life doing light loads, and up to 3 hours playing games roughly. Plus, it's way more powerful than a Steam Deck... and even more powerful than my main PC x: ((Stupid GPU shortages...))
I absolutely adore both Steam and the Switch, so I'm hyped for this. My only legitimate fear about the Steam Deck is that it won't be mainstream. It's a problem since Steam is an America based company and if my deck will have any problems the shipping would be a nightmare to deal with. I'm just hoping that they will have some sort of global service.
Are we gonna talk about him saying gaming laptops are too heavy, when there's literally small, and lights laptops that can running games at max graphics settings like a beasts?
@@PesukaReloaded not really anymore though, I'd say for the past 2-3 years relatively svelte and light laptops pack serious power on a budget, I'd say around 1000$/€ is the entry level price for 1080p 45-60fps FHD gaming at high to very high and some cases ultra settings
I'm hoping it isn't the switch. I want it to be a portable gaming PC in a convenient handheld form factor to take all of my PC games on the go while being able to run things like emulators. So far, it seems like the Steam Deck is going to do exactly that.

I mean cup head is casual game i cleared it multiple time just by laying down and having fun same with crash bandicoot and other platformer ppl are just really wierd and rage for no reason from fun chill games

as a souls fans i have to said CUPHEAD is a freaking more stressing than any souls game that i have ever played seriously everything that hit you means PREPARED TO GET F**KED everytime in souls game you still have some timing in here well its like playing GHOST AND GOBLINS if you know that game, its more then just a flow combat and strategic attack is a fucking hand reflection but maybe because i haven't fully mastered the game or what idk but for real at this time for me this game is way harder then souls game (especially DS2 which by mean known to be the hardest souls game in trilogy)
I never thought I'd meet someone from an infomercial in real life. This guy must have trouble carrying a bowl of popcorn across the room without tripping and falling.
Now that I own a Steam Deck, I can say with confidence: You can absolutely play tactical shooters (and fps games in general) on the Steam Deck. Stick and Trackpad aiming isn't great, but you can use the gyroscope as a mouse input to get the same level of precision as a mouse with some practice, and the grip buttons are very useful as jump and crouch. I still use the trackpads for some games, not for aiming though. You can reprogram them to do literally anything you want, so I use them for weapon switching in games like Doom Eternal and Black Mesa. So far, the only games I think would maybe be a struggle with the Steam Deck's control scheme are games that require a lot of buttons. You can definitely set up virtual menus to add a lot more inputs, but when there's too many it gets frustrating and complicated to do it that way. However, it could all come down to my personal tastes and not actually be a problem with the Steam Deck.
Easily emulated on PC via emulators: NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Game&Watch, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance Emulated to some degree on PC via Emulators: Wii U, Switch, DS, 3DS That is multiple generations of emulated Nintendo platforms(1980-present) on PC

Nice dude. I'm a switch owner and i really do love it so I'm gonna keep getting a few games for it here and there but yeah I hope the deck will do well.
I was about to buy a gaming laptop (I can afford it) but when the Deck was announced, I'm getting it instead. I want to be able to play my PC games on the couch, in bed, or on vacation without having to buy it for the Switch (if the full version of said game is even available on the Switch)
And let's not forget the full saying is....jack of all trades master of none still better than a master of one. People always leave out the 2nd part of the saying pointing out that a jack of all trades is better than the master of a single one.

Think of it like running a restaurant and you have someone that can so everything from wait tables to cook the food. Doesn't the og switch have a screen size smaller than the steam deck I love how people are giving the steam deck bad reviews probably less than 100 people have been hands on with the prototype so how they know is beyond me
The only thing I get about this is that the hud in games is gonna be tiny in some games and could be difficult to see on the steam deck. That's about it.
I had a reservation for a Steam Deck Then I bought a laptop... And well, I don't need a Steam Deck anymore x: Also, Steam Deck has a Gyroscope for aiming, which is arguably the best method of aiming. It's precise and it doesn't have friction on a table. I love Gyro-aiming, and on a handheld with a screen, I imagine it would be very accurate. Edit: And his point about Gaming laptops being heavy... my 17 inch Asus ROG Strix weighs in around 2kg. That is nothing. Ryzen 5800H and RTX 3060 Laptop... WAY more power than both Steam Deck and Switch, but sacrifices the form factor of both... But I wanted it for power.
@@mikeock4039 I do have a desktop. Waiting on the GPU shortage to not be so bad to upgrade my GPU. Why I bought a laptop was for portability. And it happens I got an amazing deal on the laptop.

Its funny how he says that he can't play a game without a mouse and keypad,fun fact you can actually play with a mouse and keyboard on the steam deck and even plug it to a monitor like a mini pc box oh if only these people do research a bit they could have known.
I really want a Steam Deck not gonna lie. I have a gaming laptop atm and I do want a high end gaming PC but getting the Steam Deck would be really cool.
The only reason I use my switch more often than my gaming laptop is its form factor. The idea of playing a modded steam title on the go sounds like Nirvana to me.
I haven’t, but in a year maybe. I have owned the switch and I rarely play it and even though when I do I enjoy it I’m just not massive into hand held devices! However it’s a steam deck much more games and maybe it will broaden my horizon on different genres! Will cop later on!
Sounds like he was looking forward to it at first, missed the pre order window and is now butthurt that he didn't get one and is just damage controlling.
I will also get one but I'm not to sure if I'll be running Nintendo switch emulation on it, currently it doesn't run the best and the performance will be similar enough to the switch that I find it not worth the hassle
@@normalguy7877 "it doesn't run the best" ...what, the Deck? It's not even out yet. The emulator? It runs just fine on moderate PC hardware. Only question is how well would it run on the Deck when it releases; the Deck does have some unique specs.
@@ShadowMan64572 When I say that Switch emulation doesn't run the best, i am talking about the optimization of the emulators in general, currently for you to have a way better performance then the original version you need to have very powerful hardware that the steam deck doesn't have
