Don't get me wrong, I _love_ enchantment playstyles and it's great that we finally have a Saga commander. BUT: My main problem with Satsuki is that she's only GW. I was really hoping for a RGW or GWB Saga commander, since those would provide new color combos for an enchantment focused commander. Especially GWB, where you could add in Black's decent number of counter removing cards to the mix. As GW, she's in the already saturated enchantress colors, and other enchantress commanders like Sythis will probably push her out. Plus, only two colors is very restrictive with which Sagas can be added to the deck, whereas RGW or GWB would allow a better range of choice. I'm also kinda bummed that her adding counters is sorcery only and applies to all your Sagas instead of "any number". It would've been real neat to be able to surprise trigger your Sagas on other people's turns, or during combat, or being able to choose which ones to tick up. I also wish she had a way to remove lore counters instead of only ticking them up. My issues aside, there are a few other groups of cards that would go great with Satsuki: 1. "Next time target thing dies" reanimators like Saffi, Adarkar Valkyrie, Graceful Reprieve, the new Breathkeeper Seraph, Verdant Rebirth, and super secret tech Reincarnation. (yes, you can Reincarnate the same creature right back) 2. "Died this turn" reanimator White spells like Brought Back or Faith's Reward or Second Sunrise. 3. Enchantment reanimators like Replenish, Open the Vaults, Resurgent Belief, Triumphant Reckoning, Calix, Crystal Chimes, the new Brilliant Restoration, and super secret tech Cleansing Meditation. 4. Blink effects, for the Kamigawa Sagas, to reset them from creature to Saga. Or even blinks that can hit any permanent, to reset any Sagas. 5. Enchantresses. BUT one super secret tech here is Femeref Enchantress. She's usually not played in enchantress decks because she draws on Enchantments _dying_ instead, but that's perfect here.
Quick correction on Instill Energy; the Aura doesn't actually give haste. If you read the Oracle text, you'll find that it says "The Enchanted Creature can attack AS THOUGH it had haste." This is why I didn't bother getting it for my Atla Palani deck.
The biggest issue is that the creature needs to die in order to trigger the second ability, and if this is your Commander then this won't trigger if you sac it and return it to the Command zone. Commanders with "dies" triggers are classic non-bo's...
Incorrect. They changed the ruling on Commander death triggers back around the beginning of 2020 allowing Commanders like Child of Alara and Elena(?) Dusk Rose to function properly. When your commander dies it hits the graveyard and then you have the option to move it to the command zone.
The color identity is a huge letdown. 4 or at least 3 colors would have been needed to make it a viable saga tribal deck. There are simple not enough of them in green and white. I will include her in my Attraxa saga tribal though.
I love playing Atraxa Sagas Tribal, but I just stopped after the fifth time someone started screaming because they don't know how Sagas+ Power Conduit works.
I saw it as a “stage crew” player in the 99 of sythis, if you don’t have a hand or you need to save sythis, you can and recast but I like the deep dive in all the saga tech available!
Add some circles of protection or runes of protection and make and enchantment reanimater while protecting your stuff and your self with you circles and runes it's gonna be really good when I get it done
i will sleep on this card because while it is a Saga commander all it really means is expect to get your lands blown up every other turn because white likes to do that.
I honestly like this commander, but, I feel like it would be a better part of the 99 in a 5 color deck, maybe a sissay deck. I like him but I feel like limiting myself to green and white sagas only isn't going to be the best deck unless you're in very casual gaming groups.
The death trigger seems like a really powerful part of this card to me. Maybe it's been printed before, but in Standard I'm looking forward to playing something that whenever it dies it can just bring back a saga that can potentially then bring it back. It's basically unkillable.
Well, I kind of wish she was 3 colors for more options, but I swore years ago that when a saga commander exists, I'll build it. My literature degree demands it.
So far with the spoilers we have seen from KND, there are 9 more sagas in these colors, couple that with the 12 previous ones doesn't really make this a viable commander to me... yet. I am certain that given time there will be more sagas.
I really want a blue saga that’s like a fading prison flavor where 1st lore counter exiles something but if you remove the saga before it’s done it comes back idk what additional effects it has but yeah
If only this had atraxas' colors so I can play my favorite blue and black sagas (like the eldest reborn and medomai's prophecy) still adding it to the atraxa saga tribal when it comes out
I was expecting a card like that to be printed to make the saga creatures more viable on standard, unfortunately it doesn't have the ability to give haste to enchantment creatures that I was hoping for.
I think they did it only as a sorcery is because sagas tell a story and each counter is like a chapter of the story and if you could activate as an instant you could resolve the second or third chapter before before the previous chapter happened causing a paradox
All I really can say is ok it's not a bad card but it a bit niche it fills a role that other commanders don't but I would not make it my commander as it really not that good as it colors are very limiting it only green and white they should have made it a five or at lest three as that way we could use all the sagas we have in this set and all the other's from the past
Selesnea saga tribal sounds amazing. Not to mention how many decks could slot this in for great saga synergies. There are a lot of under rated sagas out there that imo are underrared
Hey Mitch, seeing all this new Saga support in this set it’s made me want to make an Atraxa Saga deck like the one you built, but seeing ones like the new Hidetsugu Saga, is there any Penta Saga commander you’d do? Looking at them I see Jegantha working for the commander but I’m not sure if anyone else would really fit with Golos being banned.
soo...starfield of nyx with a transformed saga creature...does the field kill the creature because it gets base power/toughnes 0/0 or does it count the CMC of the Saga rather the side with the creature?
