To anyone thinking of trying fractal wood burning: 1: I do not recommend trying it. Fractal wood burning is extremely dangerous and it can kill you in an instant. 2: If your going to try it regardless of my warning not to, I made a video on fractal wood burning safety: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ye_bqZ6VuCw.html Please watch this video and if you do end up trying it, follow all my steps in the video EXACTLY and please feel free to ask me any questions you have!!

A warning in the description is not enough your video should have opened with a very clear warning on how utterly dangerous this is including steps to ensure safety like including an emergency cut off, and warnings to never touch the device while it's running, and a warning to shut off power first before attempting to save someone. This is true of a microwave transformer that puts out 500mA. Many of us use a neon light transformer that only puts out 30mA. For reference, it is about 100mA that will kill the average adult. Reardon has turned this into a boogeyman while also making it main stream. More people who have never heard of this will now try it. If these videos start getting censored there are only going to be more people using dangerous methods instead of learning the safe and proper ways to do this.

@SmallLittleMicky
@SmallLittleMicky Год назад
To an extent therein lies the problem, the getting hit for just a second - due to electric shock you are unable to let go so that second would most likely be full time until someone can SAFELY isolate you, by which time you will already long be toasted. If you are "lucky" enough to get hit for just a second (e.g. the shock was to luckily knock you to an isolated location) then you may well survive but that's unlikely as you typically loose full control of your body and freeze as you are electrocuted. Your brain and feelings still work though so you go through the horrid pain (both physical and emotional) right until the very end.

I did a "damn that was dumb" once at the top of a 65 foot sailboat mast. I took out my metal multi-tool to probe a mast-head light. I had personally turned off every breaker that fed the equipment up there. I had forgotten about strobe lights and capacitors. I managed to hang on as it tried to blow me off the two tiny folding steps I was standing on. Didn't even let go of the untethered multi-tool, so no-one standing below me got it through the skull. Damn that was dumb.

Be careful folks: Couple electrocuted to death making art hyped on TikTok, officials say. María Luisa Paúl, The Washington Post April 26, 2022. When investigators responded to an April 6 fire at a Wisconsin home, they were immediately stumped. The house in Marathon County, northwest of Green Bay, was badly burned and its owners were nowhere to be found. But once the blaze was extinguished, officers found two bodies in the garage - those of Tanya Rodriguez, 44, and James Carolfi, 52. Firefighters suspected foul play, and Marathon County sheriff's deputies started looking for clues to solve what they thought was a homicide case. Then, pathologists conducting the couple's autopsies proposed a theory that changed the course of the investigation: that Rodriguez and Carolfi had died after electrocution from fractal wood burning.

The only way to even remotely do this is to build your kit with a Ground Fault Interrupter on the secondary side of the transformer (very expensive) as it has to be rated for the voltage. The next point is gloves, insulation and everything else needs to be rated over 2000 Volts AC. The AC matters as it Spikes well over 2000 volts. If you do this you need a large insulated table with no metal at all as you could get a sh9ok. 7 out of 10 people electrocuted in Fractal Woodburning are dead before they hit the floor due to heart damage. Those who survive have terrible damage to their hands or where they made contact. I work with High Village electronics and always always lock it out. I discharge all parts that might hold a charge. This is playing with more than lethal voltage and for those not trained and not knowing the dangers, you will die with your first error.
@two-sense
@two-sense 8 месяцев назад
First, I agree with you. I would never do this the way it's shown in a YT vid. However, you could set up a perfectly safe way to do it by using a dead man's switch located in an adjacent room. Both rooms would be built to allow no possibility for current to pass between them. Closing the circuit could take place using a bluetooth signal with a relay, or something similar, to allow complete isolation. A monitoring system could provide for verification of complete discharge of all electrical energy before it was physically possible for the operator to approach the wood. You could actually automate the process, using some simple robotics, and make it not only safe, but at $200 a piece, you could make a pile of money at it. But I agree, not a great thing to set up in the corner of the garage for a little Sunday morning tinkering.

To the people watching this, even if you are an experienced electrician, please DO NOT DO THIS. Fractal wood burning is a very dangerous process. During the fractal wood burning process, if you touch the alligator clips, the metal, the wood or even the table if it’s a non conductive surface, the slightest brush of your leg or your hand onto it will get you killed instantly by the 2000 volts being generated. Please watch how to cook that’s video. @@jackshiznit69 You neglected to include both the capital letter at the beginning, and the period at the end of your comment, good sir. I trust that you are not offended by my humble communication. I have deliberately limited my suggested alterations to your comment to the aforementioned two errors. To discuss what would be required to transcend your comment from a mere grouping of words into a complete sentence would, alas, consume more time than I have at my disposal. A fine, and most pleasant day to you, sir.

shut up lol. people who do this are professionals at it. Just like any dangerous hobby. Examples: Scuba/Sky diving, hunting, driving any many more. It's the peoples fault if they get themselves injured/killed for trying something dangerous without proper research. And no, looking up youtube videos or websites doesn't count as research. Even then, it doesn't take a rocket science to know Wood burning alone is dangerous, especially adding high voltage. Your stupid if you try it randomly.

Could someone please explain the reason behind scoring the wood before sanding and also why the cinder block weight on it for 24 hours? (Curious as a non-woodworker)
@jessifishman
@jessifishman 2 года назад
Pencil marks to make sure whole surface is sanded, weight to avoid cupping because wetting the wood and then the burning process dries it so the moisture content is uneven so will warp otherwise, the weight and time help counteract the warping/cupping.
@AdamsBrew78
@AdamsBrew78 2 года назад
Jessi Fishman ah, that all makes a lot of sense now. I didn’t even notice it was pencil marks, thought it was shallow cuts /scratches, but I’m watching on a small screen, so didn’t pick up some details. Thanks!

If you try what he is doing in the video it is so easy to accidentally touch the wood, the table, the metal, for even a fraction of a second and you'll be dead before you hit the floor. Do not do this.

If you're thinking of trying this DON'T. You are playing with your own life. There's been at least 33 deaths in the US, not counting the deaths in England, Australia, etc. Even many EXPERIENCED ELECTRICIANS have died trying this. If a single part of your body even *grazes* any part of the wood, metal, table, you will get shocked with 10× the number of volts needed to stop your heart and die. *This is not worth your life.* Stay safe broski 🖤

Wait until they learn about how many people accidentally maim or kill themselves with woodworking tools.

You will have 2000 volts of electricity passing through your body in a second if you touch them metal, wood, or anything conductive touching it product, this is 10 times more energy than is needed to stop your heart, you will likely be dead before you hit the ground in many cases and if you do survive you will live with lifelong issues with your heart.

Maple walnut and cherry burn really well. Moisture content is always important when woodworking anything above 10% I don’t use. I soak the wood with water baking soda before burning.
