I hope y'all like it! ⚠UPDATE FOR FUTURE VIEWERS ⚠ As of July 3rd/4th there was a series of updates implemented into all versions of the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection One of these updates fixed the initial reward system for the Virus Battler. They now properly reflect the rewards you should earn & will no reward the extra NaviCust parts mentioned in the video.
In regards to NumbrOpn, it gets completely negated by Dust Cross whereas Custom 1 and 2 aren't affected. This is presumably because it's an all or nothing deal, which doesn't mix with the Trash Shoot mechanic.
It doesn't work with basically anything that requires the lower right half of the custom screen. If you have ChipShuffle from something like patch cards NumberOpen is completely stuffed by it.
Tango is also bad cause I saw a match where it overwrote a players tfc Life Aura with the barrier. A very niche but very devastating self sabotage for sure
Note that you can only have one trap active at a time, if you used an AntiDamage with any plus chips or Full Synchro, it would be overwritten if you B+Left, making AntiMagic even more niche
I’d be interested to know how often Undershirt actually changes the result of a match. That last 1 HP feels good, but you’re likely to die to a buster shot a few seconds later.
As someone who plays a lot of BN6 PVP, undershirt is a lifesaver. If you can dance around and get back to the custom screen, you can completely change the game around. There's a reason everyone in the N1GP says "never leave home without your shirt".
The way it works is that at any point that you are above 1hp, an attack cant kill you. This means that as long as you can heal up from that 1 hp you can tank infinite hits. While said case is very rare, i've seen tomahawk cross with grass panel + undershirt completely turned around a +1k hp lead. It also helps you not get jumpscared by lets say a muramasa, even more so if its a D-cross muramasa
number open is also horrible in pve, you can have a navicust setup with custom +3, first barrier, super armor, airshoes, bugfix, attack max, charge max, speed max and hp +100 (or 200) don't quite remember the exact hp here, the 2 extra chips are worth losing all of that. Even in pve it's a meme :'D
NumberOpen's best use case is when you're going for deleting SP navis under 10 seconds to max out their SP chip's damage. As to do so you *need* to combo them down in one turn, two if you use FullCust.
It's great to see a well-made guide like this! I am however surprised about ChipShuffle because I use it so often to dig for my 2-chip combos, like AirSpin Static, or to just find BblStar to buy time stunning the opponent through the turn. I thought it would be "Build around it" because I can use BugStop to allow myself to use FloatShoes/SuperArmor and Shield for the utility.
Always great to hear from you Timaeus! I personally feel that ChipShuffle's size is too unwieldy to be worth it. That being said, maybe some strategies that want 2-chip combos (like you mentioned) could benefit from it. You might enjoy the Patch Card format that has great ways to enable ChipShuffle at a lower cost than normal PvP!
Busterpack also only gives +3 to each stat youd still have to also slot in another level of each just for it to be comparable to running each individual max program
The Max Plus parts are 7, 3, and 2 for a total of 12 squares; while BustPack and one of each +1 part is 8, 2, 1, and 1 for the same total. Which you use, imo, depends on spacing.
Some of the programs like Float Shoes would be more useful to use outside of PvP ngl. Being able to not have to deal with the added annoyance of certain panel types like Poison Panels and Ice panels while dealing with viruses and navis helps a lot. Same can be said with Chip Shuffle, Number Opening and Auto Heal. Slip Runner looks more like something you would use when speedrunning MMBN6 or skipping Judge Tree imo.
Anyone struggling with the Left+B moves like Shield or Tengu's air pull; Since at least BN3, I've noticed it's easier to think of it as pressing B THEN Left within about a frame of each other. Same time can lead to you just slightly pressing left first, which the game doesn't read as the "same time". It's silly, but once you get used to it, it's much more consistent.
I think speed max is worth a B tier but speed +1 is almost a D tier, very rarely you only want 1 speed, and with speed max being only 2 squares it's easy to shove into the edge.
The usage for speed+1 isnt really to shoot faster alone, its to get the buster bug to max level (lv3) while also getting the necessary speed, then uses bugfix to get the highest buster proc chance. Said buster proc build is extremely strong in a slow gauge folder and at times can allow you to dish out damage while holding chips back in case your opponent is also holding something fishy and waiting for your move
I found this video educational.....playing Gregar and I got for my build Attack man, speed max, charge max, air shoes, under shirt, rush & HP 400 the only issue I see with this i could not find the space for custom programs 😢 other than that am running a B/Z folder 😅
Are there any other programs in that build you didn't mention? As written, there's a lot of wiggle room in that Cust; as is, you could fit Bugstop and Custom 2 and only leave two awkward corner blocks untouched.
@lesliediaz9769 Mind you, this will only work with all programs compressed but here goes: AtkMax and ChrgMag go up top, then have AirShoes in the center of the the leftmost offgrid, with Rush inside the previous program, and Undershrt in the very center of the command line. That leaves BugStop to go horizontal with a single square on the line, followed by Custom2 pointing down towards the bottom right corner. Lastly, that should leave you enough space to place an HP+400 flat against the bottom and the SpeedMax in the remaining space. The only unused blocks should be top of the rightmost offgrid, and the bottom of the leftmost side.
I'd swap shield and antimagic in their respective tier slots, and lower humor/poem to C. I'd bring floatshoes up to B. Hot take, shuffle could be C. Ice panels can severely ruin your day, essentially giving you warpstep but you can still get smacked during the transition between panels. But the biggest boon it gives you is not breaking cracked panels, there's a lot of ways you can wind up with cracked but not broken panels, justcone and groundman for example. And floatshoes is TINY, so easy to slip in if you just can't fit airshoes into your build. Shield is not very useful overall, needing base mega means you're already doing some really niche stuff, and the window for antimagic to trigger is drastically larger.(fun fact it also prevents cursor chips that normally pierce antidamage). Also there is no visual indication to your opponent that you're using it, aside from you standing still. Allowing for mindgames and causing your opponent to burn their offense more often. As for humor/poem, the timing is tight, and random, incredibly difficult to pull off in a real match, and completely bricked at the sight of fastgauge. The payout simply isn't high enough, even with folders built entirely around it, you're better off with the benefits of a cross. You could justify putting shuffle in C, it's big and it's wasteful, but shuffling is really powerful in its own right, essentially giving an inverted dustchute to all crosses but dust. Having the option to say "Nah I'd like to use this chip later" and push it out of your custom window is an incredibly strong ability, even if it's not worth the huge size. And Bustpack is even worse than you're saying, not only is it big and dumb and needs to be on the command line, but you only get +3 from it, giving you 4/4/4 total to your buster. Dogshit, should be in a tier all its own along with autoheal.
When these games came out in early 2000s. I wish you RU-vid was available It was a headache to figure out which ones were good and how to use them. In the game of Guides weren't all that useful
Yeah, maybe if we didn't have the cool thing of putting Navi Custom parts outside the grid, Bust Pack would be cool to have. I can also fight Reflect if it did 100 damage instead of 50. But even then, not worth for that shape. Took a huge nerf since BN5.
If this was Battle Network 4, Reflect program would be pretty stupid in netbattles outside of PvP. Thunderman, Junkman, Burnerman and a few other viruses and navis are extremely allergic to Reflect Program, to the point you don't need to use any chips other than rock cube and geddon 2.
nah, buster pack is probably b tier. you can sometimes use it instead of attack max and charge max (so your stats are 4/4/4 instead of 5/1/5) if the shapes just happen to work for whatever else you're trying to run (like more HP space on the sides with buster pack in the middle-ish). It's very obviously better than everything in C tier
8 is not higher than 10, there is no scenario where you both charge your shots and rapidly shoot it at the same time. I'd say an AttackMax and SpeedMax with either one bugged would be the superior option here,
It warms my soul to see new Battle Network videos coming out in 2023. Hopefully by next year we'll have real NetNavis and we won't force our young into slave wage labor anymore. Utopia #soon
I can't even say NumberOpen is that good for single player stuff in the Legacy Collection thanks to Patch Cards. You can combine patch cards and customizer programs to get a +3 Custom Screen (custom 1/2 programs) with auto-fast gauge (VideoMan Patch Card) and ChipShuffle (SearchMan Patch Card). All without locking records or anything else. And as a note, no, you can't have NumberOpen and ChipShuffle at the same time. The latter just deletes the former. Yeah. Even in moden PVE NumberOpen isn't that good...
