Do Particle filters expire? 

It's called a "P100" over here because it's a lot catchier and easier to say than "P99.999" lol

There's a Japanese brand named "Shigematsu". Some of there's particle filters doesn't have an expiration day. And they claim that if it's got clogged, can be washed by water for an unlimited times. Until it shows physical damage, contaminated by chemical, or failed the resistance test after washing.

I bought a 3M 7093 particle filter on amazon and I didn't found any expiry date on the package. There is only a LOT no. 100906. I did some research that the LOT# should mean produced in Factory 10, 2009 week 06. In the new package of 7093 filter, 3M states the expiry date for 5 years. Yet, in 3M official documents, as far as I can find, never indicate there is an expiry date on the particle filters, while 3M writes very clearly that never use the chemicals filters after the expiry date. There are some rumours on the internet saying that 3M indicates the expiry date just because it is now legally required. There is another version of particle filter that has the expiry in 10 years, while this version, maybe because it is "waterproof", is 5 years. I believe the filter just works fine perhaps in 10 years time, but it seems better not to risk yourself with just few more dollars. I never expect stores on Amazon will sell expired filters. Now I know.

also note that some of these filters have statically charged filters. I'm sure the charge is lost over time

Nice video. I have a question. So on my shms when I breath out sometimes I get a weird vibrating sound... I originally thought it would be the exhale valve, but it was not that. Do you think it's the voice diaphragm? Any advice to fix it?

How about you put the standart filter (charcoal) sealed in a sealed bag ? Shouldn't they last dozens of years ?

Scott filter came in from UK today. Hard to locate in USA, P3 same as yours. Use with NOS M65 fits great.

Question: If I understand correctly, it sounds like P3 particulate filters are generally re-usable, unlike charcoal filters, which are regarded as toxic waste after one use. Particle filters can be trusted to be effective at blocking viruses, assuming they are not ripped or defective, and can be used repeatedly up until they become too hard to breathe through. Is that correct? Side comment: I assume a "100% efficient" particulate filter would catch 100% of airborne particles, not air itself. I don't think they're trying to say it blocks 100% of all molecules.

Would this filter fit an s-10 ?, Also if the pleated paper was made of fiberglass paper, how would you know you are not inhaling fiberglass particles?

I bought a filter like that and when I attach it to the mask it smells weird. Is this suposed to be like that?

Where do u get your fp-5 filters from? I only found some on ebay where i have to pay more for the shipping then for the filter it self. (The only seller i found was a british one)

Video request: Stop me if you've done one to this degree before, but I checked most of your expired filter video. If someone were to say get a surplus 4A1 and the filter it comes with says Exp. 2009, what uses can it still be good for? I assume the the particulate portion is still perfectly fine if the plastic cap was on it, however not it an air tight bag. Essentially I'm asking you to make a video of as many uses it can be used for that we can think of. I presume fallout, anything a 3M half face respirator can do, smoke (but in the event you are evading and not sticking around), and of course airborne plagues. I have a friend that has an old surplus 4A1 and the filter doesn't even have an expiration date, I basically just told her to only use it for the uses above. She added her own uses, such as cutting onions and working with hair spray/dye. :P

What’s ur thought on Soviet particle filters, the ones that look something like ur holding that u put on the bottom of a large filter???
