I like your DO vs. DON'T concept... makes it easier to avoid mistakes. Thank you for your efforts! Do you know how to paint other cloud types too.. like wispy clouds.... storm clouds.... cirrus clouds or cominbinations?

I've watched 32 different artists tell me how to do a sky their way. Everyone had a different method, some suggested that unless I bought their specialty brushes, I'd never be able to paint like them. And in one video, a guy plopped down 7 different colors I think he used 5, for what, I haven't a clue. So being one who has followed the KISS principle pretty close, I'm sticking with John.

@@karengouthro705 you need to let that layer of grey dry before going in with the white highlight. It will make a huge difference

18:06 at the end it is good to gently go over the clouds with a two-inch brush and fluff it all up together

As on your DO AND DON'T video about how to paint trees, I was taught to paint my clods the DON'T way you show on this video. I have found out how all that is why my paintings have always turned out to look so cartoonish. Was trying to figure out why that was so and now I know !!! This is great tutorial on how to paint clouds. Even after watching other artists teach their way of painting clouds, I have come back to this video over and over again. They are very realistic. This is a good foundation from which to add rain or a rainbow. Thank you for the tutorial!

Very good work so realistic looking I have watched a couple tutorials on clouds before and then I go try them and still fail. I have a problem with over working the area. Thank you for your videos. You are very talented. I do have this one comment-- to me your mountains and your clouds (and sometimes your trees) look like scoops of ice cream piled up. Very little variation in sizes of lumps, or in textures (detail) within the main shape. I enjoy your painting videos very much. Thanks again and I'll keep watching.

you're welcome.. well, you can make the part of the sky bigger so that you can have a larger area for clouds.. yes you can add a little details on the landscape.

I just scrubbed my canvas with water and alcohol and a brush than wiped it with a wet rag to remove paint since I messed up badly. I have a huge weight lifted off me as I can restart. I will use this technique thank you.

So basically just use more colors. That's really all that was shown here because you spent way less time on the first which could have been much better even using a single shade

I watch the all video and you keep on using the little are of white over and over ,and yet did not see make a use of other 2 color ,this is a fake ,you dip the brush on same corner same area with using more color , can fool me, i notice that the cloud they were not gray but it had more of yellow color ,
