To tell you the truth,I have been in a bad place after losing my father a year ago.I had quit dyeing my hair(it's half grey,as I am in my 50s),no make-up,no nails,no false eyelashes.A far cry from when I modelled as a greenback in the 80s.Somehow,I found you.At first I watched for entertainment, and to see what new products are around...as I don't believe in beauty mags,I felt they hurt my self esteem. But thank you,Tati, thanks to you I want to try some new things.Thank you for helping me believe in myself again.
im turning 22 this June and i JUST bought my first proper pallete yesterday. (Waiting for it to come in the mail) and i feel years behind too..im watching all the "do's and donts" of eye makeup to help. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
My mother's hospital's receptionist girl is getting married next week and she doesn't have a budget to get her makeup done in a salon, so I'm doing her wedding makeup...this video was super helpful...! Thanks Tati! You might not realize how many lives you touch! ♥️
I hope that goes well for you! I did my brothers wife's wedding party make-up and everyone went along with what I was doing and loved it. Except his bride, she complained that I didn't do her regular look that she was used to...raccoon eyes. *insert eye roll here* But everyone else liked what I did on her and told her she needed to wear her make up like that from now on lol I don't think she was too happy. Oh well lol
I sometimes struggle putting colours together and tend to stick to Browns because it's easy. Could you do a tutorial on putting colours together from some popular palettes? Not sure if anyone else has this issue though.
SonL P YES! I have so many eye shadows, and I try to come up with combos that might be pretty, but they often don't turn out that great, so a tutorial on color would be awesome!
omg this is literally my life all the time!!!!!! I absoltely ADORE all my palettes it gets me so frustrated that I can't even come up with 1 combo that looks decent lol): especially since I LOVE experimenting with allllll colors ugh tati pls help lol! I really do think tati is the answer to all our makeup dilemmas hehe actual queen 😍 xx
Serena Studie KathleenLights have a lot of neutral and day-time looks suited for daily wear with various themes. It's what I like bout Kathleen. You should check it out if you want
Finally an actual informative video about MAKEUP and how to apply. Other than all that other bullshit. Yes it’s entertaining but that’s the problem. Feel like sometimes they get so wrapped up on views and grabbing attention instead of actually teaching us something. Tati you a real one
Hey Tati, can you do a DO's and DONT's on layering face make up. For example, tips on how long to wait between moisturiser, primer, foundation, concealer and powders. How to prevent it looking heavy, chunky or cakey so that it looks smooth, seamless and as natural as possible. Should you use less foundation and more concealer for coverage or the other way round etc? This would be a massive help to me and I'm sure many others!! X
Yeah I watched that one and it was helpful but it doesn't explain layering in the sense of how long to wait between liquids and powders if at all and I was asking for more of a "scientific" application if you will as opposed to product placement and what products to use. But thanks for pointing that out :)
@Tati, I really appreciated this as well, and not just assuming "we" know the terminology!! Do you have tips for those with hooded eyes, older eyelids, almond eye shape etc.... to better make the eyes lifted and open?? HELP! btw I panicked a bit when the video got taken down!! :D
YES. I learnt so much. Whenever i do my shadow everything is fine up until i do a bit of dark in the corner. I always seem to put to much, i could not figure out why! I put so little product and now i know that i need to dab and not swipe to much, it's such a small thing that makes a huge difference!
Holy crap! When you recognize yourself on the "bad eye" as soon as it got heavy with too big of a brush!!!! Thank you!!! I was wondering what I was doing wrong... Some days it was greats, some days, not so much 🙃
I've been watching beautubers for years. Why have I not been watching you?! I've learned more in three days watching your videos than I have in the last three years!
Honestly the fact that Tati uploads a 20 minuet so often and how she always wants to let us learn from her is amazing. She is one of the only youtubers that post great quality videos everyday. She never fails to tell the truth about pr and things she buys herself, and items she already has she puts them in a giveaway or donates to women shelters. Her years of being a youtuber she has only progressed to be better and more amazing. She truly inspires me everyday from her talented makeup skills to her generosity. She never fails to be there for us. We love you Tati.
i would love to see the husband buys my makeup challenge but just have him shop your own stash (cause you already own everything ) and it wouldnt be a waste of money that way!
if I went to beauty school, Tati would be the best teacher. She Talks sense and isn't over dramatic with the do's and Don'ts - i know you know who i'm talking about *cough instagram makeup Artists cough* - and Tati is genuinely so helpful and gives so many options if one of the tips won't work for a specific person. Tati you are a credit to yourself, Keep it up! ❤❤
I have started my daily routine with this video for the past week and my husband keeps complimenting my eyes. Thank you, Tati! I also went and bought face masks yesterday after watching your face mask video. I live in Japan and the face mask selection is pretty good.
You all prolly dont care at all but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot the login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!
Ive been using bronzer as eye shadows, since the 80's. Guess, I was ahead of the times. It was during my 20's when I couldnt afford much makeup and tried to be creative . But, it works, to this day when Im in a hurry.
Bronzer gives you a sun kissed glow (like a tan) with a subtle contour where as contour makes your cheekbones, nose, jawline, etc. defined because it creates a shadow
manyi li contouring is a more precise technique of adding a neutral/cool toned powder to accentuate your faces natural shadows (Lower cheekbones, jawline, sides of nose, etc.) bronzing is with more neutral to warm tones to make your skin look Sunkissed, it simply goes where your face would naturally get hit by the sun! Cheeks, forehead, etc. 😋
I have found it's always really hard to mess up on purpose. No matter what you're doing. I taught swim lessons and was always terrible at demonstrating what not to do
Cute Coby i wouldnt say talking is the issue, the thing is when i joined this channel i loved how straighforward she was. biggest reason i started watching her. now her INTROS alone became 3-4 minutes.getting annoying pretty fast. theres like thousends of very chatty youtubers,so for me,this just makes her one of them(which i dont watch)
Hi thank you for replying. I do see your point. I think people love make up will think the "chatter" is sorta annoying....people like me with no siblings growing up alone who doesn't mind someone giving a daily "chat" & some make up tips product reviews? It's kinda helpful tho. Can you see my point? I hope so. 😊 thank you again 😁😁😁
Other people's Do's and Don'ts videos: "make sure you blend your eyeshadow! Use a darker color in the outer corner!" Tati's advice: Small details that you wouldn't think matter, but actually make a huge difference! Thank you, Tati! I love the side by side comparisons and this series in general!
Everyone does how to's or do's and don't with warm colors and nuturals. I have brown eyes and I want to take advantage of purples and blues without looking like a zombie :(
i have green eyes and love to work with pinks and purples! I like to use a light cool brown as a transition shade and then work the pink, red, purple or any other color into the outer corner or use it as a kind of upper nose contour shade for more dramatic looks :D You could also try lining your lower waterline with that color and pair it with a neutral look to make that color really pop!
Either that or they use ghost white transition shades to make gradients with their eye looks. Ma’am I am dark skinned💀out here looking like a chocolate powdered donut. No maam. That ain’t it.
Tati, I hope you see this eventually. I want to thank you for the sort of "against the norm" mood you create with your tutorials especially. Lots of RU-vidrs make me feel like crap about myself when I'm just there to learn. I'd be hard pressed to find anyone who just automatically knew exactly how to do things....everyone must learn first and you have never once made me feel bad about myself because of it. You are a mindful and kind person and it's so refreshing. Thank you!! 💜
Honestly I’ve been doing a lot of the donts for awhile and now seeing you it makes me realize why it comes out the way it does and why I get frustrated when my makeup doesn’t look clean like yours
My biggest issue is my "outer v". IT CONFUSES ME SOOOO MUCH that is my least favorite part of eye makeup. I never feel like I'm putting eyeshadow correctly in that area
Chelsea AF if you have hooded eyes or down turned eyes - the outer V is ina different place Then somebody who has a perfectly defined crease with almond eyes for example
So I googled you Tati... and I have to say I'm a bit pissed. I found blogs of these people running they mouths about God only knows.... it's just heinous. So here's the deal: I've watched A LOT of makeup tutorials on RU-vid; for years. I have also gone to "makeup artists" at department stores and makeup stores. Way before this makeup craze started. None of them have been as informative or truthful as you. Everyone has a gift; not many find theirs or use it to its full potential. So thank you for your posts, your personality, sharing your gift, and always keeping it classy. The haters can all take a s*** and fall back in it. You're fantastic.
You're "bad eye" is my good eye. Thank you so much for explaining how to hold the brushes and how to use the different brushes. Now to try again. No doubt I'll master the smokey eye look as it's going out of fashion.
A fellow influenster referred you to me. I'm a beginner. ( I mean I know the basics) BUT it was legit only the basics. You have opened my eyes to alot of things. And let me just say that I appreciate the time and advice you get. I have watched this numerous times, then I saw your video about negative reviews and let me tell you u was mad and upset for you. So far, everything you have done one here has given me so much info. Sorry for the novel I just really wanted to Express my gratitude for someone like you and your response was amazing. Love this channel so much because its helpful for beginners and you seem like an awesome person. Dont change a thing.
I'm somewhere in between the incredibly good eye and the eye that makes her looks like she got beat up. I'm just impressed I'm not as bad as I thought.
I’m 54 yrs. young & today for the first time in my life I decided to buy some eye shadow some brushes. I was feeling like my eyes were beginning to show there age. I had no clue how to apply eye shadow or what brushes to use. I bought 4 different ( and very nice) eye shadow brushes for around $65.00. When I got home I began scrolling through eye shadow demonstration videos on RU-vid . I watched 2 and then came across your demonstration video and followed your lead. Oh my God!!...you are an incredible teacher. So easy going, easy to follow and lots of good and simple tips ( that make a world of difference. I hadn’t seen those tips in the other videos. I did my right eye only, for comparison. Wow, My eye 👁 looks fabulous. I’m an artist “ painter” mosaics so it was a lot of fun watching you basically use your eyes as a canvas. Can’t wait to buy a few more products you use. Thank you so much for sharing and being so open with your beauty secrets. I will certainly be following you. I think I’m a super fan after watching only 1 video. Thank you for empowering the public and opening my eyes up to a whole new world of makeup. At my age , I like the more natural look on my eyes and face but, you made me want to try all sorts of looks. I’m actually looking at my face as a canvas now for the first time and it’s exciting.
Hi Tati! I have been watching your uTubes for a few years. I am 57 and used to be great at putting on makeup. My husband( who is really the best person to ever come into my life) is absolutely wonderful to me. For the last two and a half years, we have lived in Las Vegas. I really don't have any friends here, so I've been really depressed. You are my saving grace! I sincerely thank you for that. We used to live in California. I loved it there. I was working at UCLA, as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. My husband worked at Lax. He is an airline mechanic for American Airlines. He's been with them for 26 years.
There's no need to be assholes, @Scarlet & @Nivea! It never ceases to amaze me when complete strangers feel the need to be needlessly mean and insulting to an innocent person who's just expressing their feelings and talking about their life and struggles. @Bridgette - I pray that your situation has changed and you are getting better from your depressed mood. I know first-hand how incredibly hard that is!
@@dollcefina I agree. Oh my goodness. Those comments were so unkind. She sees Tati as a friend and probably wanted Tati to know something about her. Hateful comments like the above disturb me. We're all in this together.
@@dollcefina I also agree. If the original comment doesn't interest you try not reading any further and getting on with your life, assuming you have one that is!
maybe you drag it into your face too much? Had this problem too for a while until I changed my technique and brush, especially for my nose contour I use a dense fluffy eyeshadow brush. For the face, an angled contour brush and it works great! Technique is pretty simple, I just try not to drag the color directly into my face, just enough that you can see it and it creates that shadow effect. Also try not to blend too high. Think of your contour in a triangle shape, getting thinner/lighter towartds the middle of your face. This technique works for me, maybe it works for you too :D
Kimberly Schaefer also if you have warm tones in your skin I think bronzer looks the best vs a cooler toned product. The hoola bronzer is the perfect tone
Omg! That brow bone highlight thing😱 always was doing the wrong way and wondering why everyone loves browbone highlight and I hate how it looks on myself 😅
This is the best simple makeup tutorial I’ve ever seen and used. I love how you even explain where the placement of the brushes go directly on the eyes, simply amazing. Thank you sm Tati!❤️
I have never seen an eye make up tutorial like this! The way you explained each brush (the why and how) 👍👍👍 Thank you!!! Most artist throw out a number and never even explain, leaving to realize how important that missing info is
Abigail Zedalis I don't know much and I'm sure there are many more tips, but avoiding silica-based powders as well as foundations with SPF is a good start.
Abigail Zedalis Yes girl my prom is tonight and I'm still trying to decide how to do my makeup 😂 I have like every single photo focus product though and they work well, plus they're cheap.
Thank you Tati, I am a total beginner with eyeshadow. I have been doing my make up for over 10 years now, and I've always been awful with eyeshadow, because I was doing it all wrong. Everytime I tried to do any type of look I ended up having two *bad* eyes. It's simple rules, simple tricks, but if you don't have experience with it, it looks a mess. I just bought the Morphe 350 2nd nature and Juvia's place Masquerade just to finally start my asventure with eye makeup and THIS video, is a game changer for me. Thank you so much for helping a sister out, you are the best!
Tati is really the best at breaking stuff down, as to WHY you should use a transition shade, or WHY she does what she does. It is truly amazing, the explanation she gives is just outstanding
Love this!! I need a lesson how on to apply to dark lipstick and darker shades of liquid lipstick. The darker shades I find I end up looking clown-ish if I am not careful or I get it everywhere.
Personally I like using a thin, precise brush to apply darker lipsticks. I also have lip piercings, so working around those with a tube of lipstick or a liquid lipstick applicator is my personal hell. The brush gives me WAY more control and precision, even if it means I have to take a little more time.
Jennifer Baird I agree with the others. I use the ELF lip brush ($3) for standard lipsticks I'll line my lips with lip brush and do a sheer layer of product all over my lip, then blot, then apply directly from the tube and blot. Double blot method sets the stain first and keeps your lipstick on wayyyy longer. I learned about it from EmilyNoel (who learned it from Besame Cosmetics).
I love how you put your hair up with makeup brushes!! 😂 I draw/paint a lot so I find myself putting my hair up with pencils and paintbrushes too! Also, thank you for the tips they were very helpful!
OMG GOD BLESS U TATI!! I WAS THREE MONTHS LATE BUT HOLY CRUD THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH, ESPECIALLY THE ONE WITH TAPPIN OFF EXCESS PRODUCT, PRAISE UR MAKEUP WISDOM!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Tati!! this is my fave video! so much information! Can you please please please do more dos and donts videos for lips, face (foundations and proper blending) , cheeks (bronzers, blushes, highlighers) ! :)
This is the kind of content I want to see. I’m a beginner and I watch so many gurus but right now most of them do PR reviews and test out products. I love it when the pros slow down and help you learn. Thank you Tati!
You know..Tati is really one of the best on YT if not the best. She takes her job very seriously and her reviews are amazing!! Love you Tati!! Take this from a woman who loves makeup and is a bit older lol.
This is incredibly methodically explained and you didn’t miss a mark at all with every single point you elaborated on. I’m so impressed by the way you deliver your information and knowledge so clearly and concisely. None of your words are jumbled or all over the place + you’re extremely intelligent and can tell just from this video you have a real passion for makeup and absolutely everything about it. I respect you so much. I learned lots from just this one video and I’ve been doing my makeup for 10 years. Thank you for teaching me some valuable tips. You are highly valued and I hope you always continue to share your beauty insight.
I have learned a lot from watching you do eyeshadow, I was doing it wrong for so many years..... i have recently gotten many compliments on my makeup while out in public.... it looks so much better now and not muddied together.
Can you do a video on blending. Not anything specifically just blending things and the best brushes or sponges to use while blending. I just started wearing makeup and sometimes I feel I'm not doing it right
theartisticivy Noo. Never blend in circular motions blend outward because if you blend in circles it will clog your pores. If you do it outward you are avoiding the pores
I really appreciate that you are going into so much detail. This is the first eyeshadow video I've seen that really helped me understand what I've been doing wrong. (Compared to other videos that have tips like "blend out your shadow". Gee thanks never thought of that)
An actual video that shows you how to properly do it coming from someone who has no experience with eyeshadow. Thank you. I needed to up my game in learning makeup and you explained so well
yeah i second the Alissa Ashley recommendation, she has several hooded eye tutorials, and she also tends to be a little more adventurous with the color choices
look up some color theory stuff. I'm an artist so I'm pretty familiar with it. Match cool colors with other cool colors and warms with warms. for example, try red and gold or purple and silver. Or go for a complimentary scheme and blend out a camo green color with red. or do gold and purple since they're compliments. put the colors next to each other on your hand and see what happens!
I've never learned how to do eyeshadow before, and this guide is so helpful and easy to follow. Props to you Tati for creating a guide full of super helpful tips. I especially like how you describe the placement of the brush, as well as where you're picking up product on the brush. I have watched so many other guides and tried to follow along, but always end up with a mess! Thank you Tati!! This is my HG of eye tutorials.
Ok so I've always felt like I missed a step with the blending situation and LITERALLY it is the transitional shade! I tried this tonight with a similar set of colors and that transition shade made everything blend perfectly into place. Holy freaking cow! 🐮 AMAZING
idk if I'm crazy but I always feel like my eyeshadow extends too far beyond my eye or too low down and idk where it's supposed to stop? or even how high I should be taking my eyeshadow in general
olivia j Hey Love, just look at it as if you have to contour your own eye shape😉, don't follow EXACTLY the way many RU-vidrs shape or apply their eyeshadow, because every eye shape is different, that was my mistake😮 and I would have so much trouble trying to get it right. You can follow the TECHNIQUE But try to follow your own eye shape..hope this sort of helped😁✌
olivia j I would say play around with eyeshadow and see which shape you like best. I found a shape that I like and I stick to it, however it may not work for everyone. Since everyone's eye is different you really gotta practice and try different techniques to see what you like best :)
when I do other people make up to find out where it should blend you go from lower lash line and follow the eye socket, check a video on it at rae morris video (she is a brilliant makeup artist)
Tati ignore the people who say you talk too much! Most of us watch you because you talk to us , you are extremely personable to your subscribers, and you actually care about us . I enjoy whatever type of video you make and appreciate your dedication to your viewers and channel! 🌸🌺
My god I cannot wait to watch this 10 times to memorize it. I'll be 37 this month and no one taught me makeup, I'm learning more than ever before from Tati I'm so grateful!!
breena.me lmao yep i would use a little drugstore pallete and it had barely any pigmentation but it was perfect because i never did too much and then i gradually started using more pigmented shadows and learned how to blend
Outstanding video!!!! I'm a middle aged woman who has had makeovers for decades from many of the highest end beauty lines amd never have I learned so much over the years as I just did from this video. Thank you Tati!!!!
Hey Tati! I find eye shadow brushes a bit overwhelming since there are so many types and brands of them. Maybe a cool video could be you suggesting some of your favourite eyeshadow brushes for a complete eye look (For beginners)? ^_^
Love the text boxes with details. Excellent tutorial. A little more eye closeup will be interesting. Can you give some guidelines for different eyes? Like hooded eyes, large eyes, and others? Wish you all the best in the universe.
Glorymar Diaz building on your idea, I'd love to see her do different Asian eyes too! I've been looking for a beauty guru do something for Asians since middle school 😅 I personally have a hooded Asian double lid, so it's not like a monolid but is also different from other races' hooded lids
Finally someone explains WHY people do their eyes first. I never knew why on earth someone would want to do their eye makeup before their face... and now I'm shook and wanting to switch up my whole darn routine! Lol. Thank you!!
Video idea: life changers. For example when I used great vs just fine brushes; Vitamin C serum for my face - was a huge game changer; cream blush versus powder, liquid concealers for older/dry skin changed my concealer game.
I have been following your makeup routine because we have similar issues and the same amount of space between my lashes and eyebrows. Also that holding your brush at the end and lightly brushing it has changed my eyeshadow game. THANK YOU TATI. YOU ARE AMAZING!
