Do Shia Muslims Have the Same Quran & Hadith as Sunni Muslims? | Syed Ali Imran

Syed Ali Imran explains that mainsteam orthodox Shia Muslims hold that Sunni and Shia Muslims have the same Quran. He says the hadith tradition diverges, as Shia Muslims look to the narrations and reports of Imam Ali and the imams, whom they believe possess perfect knowledge of the Prophetic sunnah. Syed Ali is the religious superintendent at Al Haadi school in Toronto, an instructor at the Mizan Institute, and an author on IqraOnline.net. He studied in the seminary of Qom, Iran for nearly 10 years where he focused on theology, jurisprudence, legal theory, and philosophy.

@@hassanawadh1603 Brother, the Holy Quran orders us to engage with other faith communities such as christians and jews. If we can find common terms with anyone and build on that then thats a call towards peace. There is no way differences will disappear in this world as long as there are humans. You can't even force two sunni or two shia brothers who were raised by the same family and same religion and tradition to think alike. The false idea that God wants every human to think alike when differences are part of them is absurd. The idea is that people despite differences should come together in call towards God and peace. Whether people follow that or no is another issue, but the Holy Quran certainly calls towards understanding, commonality of service of God, peace and harmony despite differences. The Holy Quran is not interested in titles, jew, christian, shia, sunni, we will enter paradise, they will not enter paradise.. but instead how are you racing towards good, towards service of God. May Allah forgive us, protect us and guide us all.

@@hassanawadh1603 And Sunnis see Shiites as shirk, like Christians, for accepting their saints as intermediaries between Allah and humans. An interesting difference between Shiite and Christian shirk however is this: Shiites believe that the blood of their martyrs can intercede for them, which makes their saints partners in their salvation. Sunnis and Christians consider this shirk. Christians believe that Jesus Christ is God/Allah in human flesh. They say that only God/Allah saves. So, technically this view is not shirk.

Is it true that the Shia hate and despise the rightly guided companions of our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Starting with Abu Bakr and Umar Ibn Al Katab. And what's their take on Khalid Bin Waleed, especially the Shia in Iran/Persia.
@mohjmz2003
@mohjmz2003 2 года назад
@@Meetingpeoplefive well there are differences of opinion on individuals in both Shia and Sunni sects. In Shia sect, anyone who ruled the Muslim ummah instead of the Ahlul Bayt is considered a usurper. Abu Bakr and Umar and Uthman etc etc are not considered as legitimate caliphs according to the Shia. But still there is a bit of difference of opinion among the Shia, some hate these people more and some hate them less. In general, the meaning of companion according to the Shia is different. We believe they must have seen the Prophet and helped the Ahlul Bayt and died in Iman. If any one of them went against this, then that person is not accepted. About Khalid Ibn Waleed, because of the incident that happened between him and another companion "Malik Ibn Nuwaira" and also the fact that he is believed to be present in the martyrdom of Lady Fatima, there isn't a good opinion about him among the Shia. It's not a different thing among the Shia of Iran or other countries. Most twelvers have the same beliefs. There are however other groups of Shia like zaydis that some of them respect Abu Bakr and Umar and Uthman. And last but not least, there are people who are respected in our sect but not accepted by Sunni Muslims. For example we believe Abu Talib was a righteous companion of the Prophet and a Muslim, but according to Bukhari he is in hell. Or we love Malik Ashtar and consider him a noble companion of Imam Ali, but many Sunni Muslims believe he was involved in killing of Uthman and that makes him a disbeliever to them. However according to us he had nothing to do with the death of Uthman, he was only a protester, but didn't agree with killing him.

The claim that parts of the Qur'an are missing is present as a fringe opinion within both Sunnis and Shia, and that claim is rejected by any Muslim with sound creed that has read the Qur'an and acknowledges that Allah has preserved his book. With regards to Hadith, do Isma'ili and Zaydi Shia (who have different Imams later on) have a different tradition and books on Hadith than the Twelvers? @Spino

The Zaydis do have a different Hadith tradition, however, it has some overlap work Sunni narrators and transmitters especially in the 2nd/8th & 3rd/9th century. The Ismaili book Daim al-Islam has content that can be almost entirely found in other Twelver collections, since the Hadith there are mostly fiqh/legal in nature and from the 6th Imam who is common to both sects. Lastly, Shia Hadith are transmitted by Shia narrators, so there has been a parallel Hadith tradition, with distinct narrators from the outset. @MoussaZainab
@MoussaZainab 2 года назад
Beginning with Imam Ali it well known that he got his knowledge directly from the prophet pbuh, as Imam Ali was raised by the Prophet pbuh from when he was an infant and remained by the side of The Prophet pbuh until he passed away. So his teacher was The Prophet and The Prophets knowledge was Divine, so Imam Ali inherited that knowledge. Then it passed To Imam Hassan, Hussein, Ali ibn al-Hussein, Muhammad ibn Ali, Jafar ibn Muhammad, till the end of the chain. So the Imams did not study under scholars, their only teachers were the Prophet and the previous Imams before. I dont think that there are any reports in history, whether in the sunni or shia hadith corpus, that shows that those figures studied under any scholar. Rather, huge scholars, even sunni scholars such as Malik ibn Anas (maliki school of thought) studied under them and learn some principles from them.

The correct method of sending praise and blessing on the Prophet is to include his family as per his instructions O Messenger of Allah, we know how to send greetings of salaam upon you, but how should we send blessings upon you? He said: “Say: Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala aali Muhammadin kama salayta ‘ala aali Ibraaheem, innaka hameedun majeed; Allahumma baarik ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala aali Muhammadin kama baarakta ‘ala aali Ibraaheem, innaka hameedun majeed (O Allah, send Your salaah (grace, honour and mercy) upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your salaah upon the family of Ibraaheem, You are indeed Praiseworthy, Most Glorious. I’m sorry but his statement at 0:40-0:45 “You will not find this opinion (among the scholars) ANYWHERE” is a lie. There are many Shia scholars in the past-well-known & respected ‘ulumā among Shi’a-who believed that the Qur’an underwent CORRUPTION (Tahrīf) at the hands of the close companions/disciples of the Prophet Muhammad (whom they also curse & reject as legitimate leaders), claiming that the “real” Qur’an contained up to THOUSANDS of verses that supposedly foretold the authority of Ali bin Abi Tālib as the rightful successor to the Prophet (which is obviously complete baloney). I’m afraid that his shocking denial of this clear fact of history, and his falsely attributing it to a mere “extreme fringe minority rejected by scholars” is totally false and misleading, and is either due to 1) Sheer ignorance (which seems unlikely, but I hope is the case) 2) Pure embarrassment of his own sources & tradition, or 3) He is being insincere & practicing ‘Taqiyya’, which in Sunni Islam is restricted “lying” ONLY allowed for fear of death or bodily harm, but in Shi’a theology is much wider and often allowed for ANY reason to protect or preserve the image of their faith, which even means lying to innocent people about what their books and scholars say in order to make it seem more palatable and help them swallow the faith. But there is absolutely no comparison between what we he mentioned about “problematic Sunni reports of Qur’an transmission” versus the HUMONGOUS & truly REPULSIVE claims made by great Shi’a scholars about the Quran’s alleged ‘tahrīf’ (corruption), which is a giant sin and anathema. P.S. For the record I don’t even consider myself a Sunni (but simply a “Muslim”) and I truly say all that I did with due respect, and don’t mean any offense or ill will towards our Shia friends, most of whom are themselves completely unaware of these teachings in their traditional books and scholars. I am only sharing my genuine thoughts. Salam.

See what the holy Prophet s.a.w.w commanded us to especially the things he mentioned in the last stages of his life and among them is a famous tradition which has been mentioned in both sunni and shia hadith books and has been transmitted by many companions and is AUTHENTIC. The Hadith is called " Hadith of 2 Weighty Things " or " Hadith Al Thaqlayn " in arabic. heres an example of that hadith : Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: "I saw the Messenger of Allah during his Hajj, on the Day of 'Arafah. He was upon his camel Al-Qaswa, giving a Khutbah, so he said: 'O people! Indeed, I have left among you, that which if you hold fast to it, you shall not go astray: The Book of Allah and my family, the people of my house.'" Tirmidhi 3786 and this is just one example there are many more. I Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you to read " THEN I WAS GUIDED by Muhammad al-Tijani ". This book is written by a scholar who was a convert from sunni to shia and mentions only traditons accepted by both and also shows how the right path is the one which is actually the one which shias follow since our sources are : Quran and prophets family.

Indeed, I have left among you, that which if you hold fast to it, you shall not go astray: The Book of Allah and my family, the people of my house.'" tirmidhi 3786. So in short we obey command of prophet and adhere and hold onto these 2 things and the sahabas also had to do this.

This is great! How I wish to know why the offsprings of Hassan rabiyallahu anhu who was imam before Husseini Husseini rahimahullah, were excluded from the imamship? But Husseini"s children from a Persian mother were only considered Imams.

In Shia tradition, Hussein was divinely chosen for his sacrifice. Imam Hassan died before the major drama unfolded. Besides, during the rule of Umayyads, it was customary to curse Ali for congregation leaders, military leaders etc. Imagine Hasan praying at a Friday congregation listening to his father getting cursed. Hussein stood up against such, and sacrificed himself. I guess that's why he has the exalted upper hand in Shia traditions.

Why do they not need witnesses to get married? Doesn't that mean if anyone gets caught commiting zina, they can just claim they got married to avoid punishment? Also, if he doesn't believe any book is authentic, why do they believe their hadith books?

Ask yourself....do you need witnesses for the wajib prayers you do daily or allah knows everything our intentions behind doing every act...or you do it to please Allah and because it is wajib...and no shia does this without permission of their parents,it is mandatory and without the permission of your parents,the nikah is not valid....niyaat or intention is what matters at the end...

Good video. Both sects have their good points and bad points, also they have both have their claims to islam. I lean the sunni way but do not regard the hadiths are completely provable, meaning no can be 100% it was said not unless you got tape recorder recording from the 6th century. So my view is that the hadiths i have come across ie bukhari etc and possiblely the shite hadith collections are the only ones whats we have left to suggest the prophet said this or that. So from an historical perspective they cannot be ignored and most likely true but that is not to say all is true. Of course to understand the hadith you need classical arabic training but also historical training. The problem with the sunni muslims view is they accept their hadiths are 100% but if you look at their collections they all contridict, that is fine you accept the prophet was a man and he made mistakes, but sunnis say he cannot make mistakes and to say so more likely get you killed. The shiah have a more pragamatic and sophisticate approach that hadith cannot be sure it was said, that is in line with current western historical methodology. The Shiahs are right on this point but by saying one cannot be sure if it was said 100% it does not mean a person cannot accept them. For example the fly hadith where it says one wing has a disease and other wing has a cure, put it in your tea then throw it out. paraphrasing here. That is extremely dangerous for your health if you follow that hadith, its a scientific fact flies transmite diseases. So if you do not beleive that hadith according to the sunni traditon it makes you a non muslims, and if you accept hadith but the prophet puh made a mistake it makes you anon muslim - one cannot win. It seems the sunnis are rather too quick to make people non muslim. I think the sunnis are right in general about what the hadiiths say, and that tradition cannot be ignored because it does not stand up to western historical methodlogy of the 21st century or science. That is not fair on sunni islam, because Bukhari only had the tools and and education of his age and with that he achieved a great thing with his collections. I have not deleved much into shiah hadiths yet but again i am not going to reject them out of hand just becasue they are shiah. www.orkin.com/pests/flies/house-flies/house-flies-and-disease. "Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "If a house fly falls in the drink of anyone of you, he should dip it (in the drink) and take it out, for one of its wings has a disease and the other has the cure for the disease." sunnah.com/bukhari:3320 This article tries to argue flies are good in food, it is not true that flies were allowed to lay eggs on wounds, that would only increase inflectons, but it is true that maggots once cultivated were used to treat infected wounds. If the fly hadith is partly right but wrong on the other part. Putting flies in food can lead to illnesses and diesease, so he was right in that regard that flies can spread ilnesse etc. Hamaza Yusuf said that hadith is not authentic. The question is are you going to let a fly go near your food, i bet not. Remember flies feed on dead stuff, dung, defect when they land etc and then eat it up etc. Its not healthy to be near them and they should not be near any food. "In the two world wars the wounds of soldiers exposed to flies were observed to heal and scar faster than the wounds of unexposed soldiers. Even today, fly larvae, or maggots, are used medicinally to clean up festering wounds. They only eat dead tissue and leave healthy tissue alone." No they were not exposed to flies that would of made the wounds worse . seekersguidance.org/answers/general-counsel/does-modern-science-confirm-the-hadith-that-says-there-is-an-antidote-in-the-wing-of-a-fly/ "BioBag dressing: The maggots are sealed within a dressing which is a finely woven net pouch containing a small piece, or pieces of foam, which aid the growth of the maggot and manage exudate. The BioBag dressings come in varying sizes and are applied according to the nature and size of the wound being treated. The maggots remain sealed within the dressing throughout the treatment." www.chelwest.nhs.uk/your-visit/patient-leaflets/tissue-viability/maggot-therapy#:~:text=Maggot%20therapy%20involves%20the%20use,considered%20prone%20to%20re%2Dsloughing.
