I think honestly the better way to build one of those frames would be to also make it functional Add a screen. Wire all the buttons to an external nes controller and add a battery pack or plug in with an on/off switch at the bottom of the frame. Rewire the cartridge slot to the top of the frame and add some hooks to the bottom of the frame to hold tbe NES controller. Then you can plug in a game and play it making it a functional art piece

To easily get hot glue off, use IPA (isopropyl alcohol). It'll seep between the glue and the surface it's attached to and let's you remove it easily and without residue by slowly lifting it up (making sure to give the IPA time to seep into the widening gap).

@@jamesgolden7317 I mean, those memory cards are basically just flash storage with some pins and a controller. It's too light to get damaged by blunt force very easily, and it was packaged with clothes. Since it wasn't receiving power, it couldn't have shorted anything, meaning the only danger would be corrosion, but they said it was out through the dryer, meaning that there was likely not enough water on it for long enough to do any damage.
@jamesgolden7317
@jamesgolden7317 2 года назад
@@tbuk8350 definitely, less likely for things already off. Mine was turned on when I was submerged. So that's why it was so surprising. Also, speaking of erosion. I've noticed how many electronics seem to erode a lot faster, and more easily. Especially compared older models. It's a shame they've been making things cheaper, despite the compared prices of these items. They make things better at one point. Then drop the positives enhancements. Like phones and other electronics that can handle being submerged. Yet drop that perk after that model.

Hey, on the audio to the speakers, check if it works on DC power only, if not then the answer probably lies in the power delivery to the system from the DC input. They break off components so that it can sit flush on the canvas. I wouldn’t mind these if they weren’t sold for super high for borderline unusable parts, an implementation of this where you can source the parts they’ve stuck on and switch out with broken pieces would be far better
@JohnSmith-nj4zq
@JohnSmith-nj4zq 2 года назад
There's such a low demand for those old parts and even if they were sold, they wouldn't be that much. They make much more money making them into shadow boxes. Plus, there's no need for keeping them in working order and storing them in static bags. Anyone who repairs them knows it's best to just go to Ebay and buy a non working console or console lots and use the parts to repair broken systems. It's much cheaper that way.

The only way to get them is to go to a antique shop. The only way to fix them is to get broke ones from sites like Ebay, facebook marketplace or yard sales. Nintendo is not wasting them, they don't want to keep the low demand supply parts. That's why they came up with an idea of putting them into a picture frame to get some profit from them. It's either that or throw them away or sell them for a dirt cheap price lots. That's how all electronics are. They get fazed out no matter if you like it or not.

@@esotericsean Flat glass, huh? I've actually been thinking of getting a CRT for my Mister FPGA and I was wondering about this very topic myself. I'd like the most authentic look I can get, to what I was used to as a kid. Pretty sure I always had the curved glass growing up and I was wondering why you prefer the flat? Also, do the flat sets still have the scanlines because I really want those. I've actually got an old Sanyo 27" CRT sitting in a closet at a friend's house that I was going to try out once I get the VGA converter adapter for my Mister (since most of the CRTs I can find only support composite) so I'm hoping it looks okay. I've read so many different things about CRTs (like going with sets that support component, s-video, or PVM sets) and my head is kind of swimming with the options, heh. Starting to have some analysis paralysis, I'm afraid. I guess for now I'll just go with the cheapest option and try the composite option on the old Sanyo and see how it goes.
