I also was drawn to subscribe to your channel because if your acknowledgement to our father God. Thanks for being unafraid to give Him glory and stand for what you believe. Love you queen, sis for life ❤️
@cactusflower5384 omg me too! Every wash day I think im dying or have some unknown illness because my shed be ridiculous lol I be like chile what am I doing wrong 😂
@Cactus Flower If I’ve had a protective style in for three weeks I will have a huge hair shed ball. This used to freak me out until I started taking the shed hair ball and dividing it into three equal size shed hair piles…one for each week my hair was in a protective style. This really puts it into perspective and is a strong visual to counteract the visual of the huge shed hair ball. So, in sum, I no longer freak out about shed hair 👍🏾
Just a little tip for shampooing your hair I learned in hair school. You could save a lot of money by shampooing the first time really good then Try using about a dime or nickel size amount of shampoo the next shampoo process You should get a good lather because your hair is clean from the first shampoo process.
You're so right, shampooing our hair is actually underrated. Literally the shampoo step is the most important step to hair growth. Our hair grows from the scalp and a clean scalp leads to healthy hair growth from our scalp. So we all must take shampooing very important if we really want to grow a healthy hair. Thank you so much for this video.
Very much so. It is important. However, your internal health (hormones) are the foundation to hair growth and health. If your body is experiencing imbalances, your hair will show it.
Fr its like cleansing your skin. People with acne who wonder why it won't go away try increasing the amount of time for cleansing your skin. You can use so many acne products but if your skin isn't clean then it defeats the purpose. Sis is spot on 👏
So true when I was washing my hair every week. Applying deep conditioners and protein treatments. Grew my hair 17 inches in 6-months I didn't know about wide tooth combs or anything at that time so you're right Queen!!!
@@Saditty Exactly! 😂 I was trying to be gentle with the ‘like a lie’. I know damn well that’s impossible, unless there’s some kind of enchanted hair growth elixir she’s made. That’s the length of a ruler plus an extra 5 inches, in 6 months, lmao.
I like your humility. I had goose bumps when I came to your channel and saw your introduction. You went straight to work demonstrating to your viewers. No arrogance, no attitude. Thank you.
Great video!🤩 my hair is 3a, but my little sisters’ hair is 4c and i’ve been obsessed with caring for their hair for years now. One thing she showed but didn’t mention that makes a HUGEEEE DIFFERENCE : HOLD YOUR COMB VERTICALLY WHEN BRUSHING. This will make brushing out your hair 1000000 times easier, regardless of your hair texture!
@@JoyJoy-oc7su obviously…you didn’t read what she said either🙄 she isn’t giving the creator advice she’s pointing out the way the creator is brushing her hair and the purpose of her doing it that way.
First hair care routine where I see they actually clip their nails. Such an overlooked step that I stand by. Also removing all jewelry before getting in the shower to avoid hear snagging.
The only way to get your hair that long is to keep it in braids, I remember my grandmother's hair was touching the floor, she always had it in braids, but people are impatient and always change their style which causes breakage.
my mom always did braid when I was long and my hair was under my breast I didn’t have none but I little bit but I didn’t comb my hair and It had to be cut but i’m grow it back for sure it to my neck now and I just did a chop a year ago !!
I realized I was making this mistake of yes doing stretched styles, but not putting it back in braids or twists. This caused tangles! I swear I was gonna give up yesterday but this video came on my feed and I’m gonna try again! 🫶🏽✨ your hair is beautiful btw! 😍
My concern is I believe stretching too much caused me to lose some of my natural curl pattern, so now I've got butt length hair, but it's not textured enough to do the styles I like & used to do when my hair had more volume and coil to do it. My daughters have mid-back length hair in its shrunken state, & I only use heat on it sparingly to do styles that require their curls to be stretched, but I'm cautious not to overstretch their curls that are so pretty and bouncy. Afro-descendant coily hair is rare with a unique beauty whereas every other group has predominately straight hair (curls come from afro/Black genetics & the anamoly of euro descendant/ white individualswho have curly hair and multiracial groups who have curly or wavy hair obtain it from a historical admixture through afro/ Black people in their ancestry). I value the uniqueness of our curls that is so gorgeous when properly hydrated and cared for.
@@estherlowo It's not the method that's the point; it's that the stretching too often in itself can change or cause some of us to lose our natural curl pattern, especially those of us who already have a looser curl than 4b-4c hair types. Some people may not like their coils, so they want to lose their natural texture, but for those who do like their natural texture, they may not want to stretch too often.
Most blks in US. 80+ percent are NOT afro descendants at all they are the descendants of the blk aboriginal Indians who were always here. ( And most were blk) The 🏫 books have lied to us for yrs....

I grew my hair out from barely shoulder length (when straight) hair to below bra length (stretched) years ago and it has STAYED at that same length every since. Back then I mostly learned about moisture, deep conditioning and hot oil treatments and protective styles, but I never put two and two together that the protect styles not only help your ends but they keep your hair fairly tangle free which is so important for avoiding breakage. I will definitely be incorporating stretching into my hair regimen to help my hair and supporting you by buying your products!
the nail part was the realest thing Ive heard in any videos I've watched. I cannot tell you how many times I've damaged my nails AND hair just because of jagged nail bits.
😂 I gave myself a manicure and the whole nine yards before I did my hair the other day... forget the nails though... I be trying not to snag my hair😂😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly... I've never heard of that before ever... I have natural long nails and always rip my hair with my nails, and snag my nail with my hair... I better start filing my nails down from now on before washing my hair...
You have beautiful health long natural hair... I love the techniques, video, and the prayer... Plus thanks for the tip of filing the nails down before washing of the hair... I'm constantly pulling and staging out my hair with my nails,or staging my nails in my hair... This is a GREAT video...❤❤
@@stoneyhighhigh3677 I definitely have to use my nails, lightly, to get the buildup of dirt and products and flakes off my scalp. When I or anyone else uses only the pads of their fingers and no comb or anything else to get the buildup off my scalp, it stays on there. I don’t do it hard though, just enough to lift everything up.
Stretch hair proactive styles , seems like a lot of work, but the growth benefits is worth it. I was wash-n-go in warm weather, it was good until the 2nd day, tangled, knots and cut cut cut, your routine is much more beneficial
I totally agree, I finger detangle first before using a comb. I make my own detangling conditioner with 4 ingredients from my kitchen, my coconut cream conditioner (equal parts of extra virgin coconut oil, coconut milk, plain nonfat yogurt and avocado oil.. depending on scalp and hair needs I may add some aloe juice, organic honey and or extra virgin olive oil) leave it on the hair for atleast 30 min with cap, then rinse out well before washing the hair. I do everything before the wash the detangling, clip ends while moisturizing, once washed the hair is super shiny & moisturized from the oils. I also keep aloe juice, peppermint & rosemary oils in a water bottl. I do the same for my son hair which make it easy for him to wash his own hair in the shower without the tangles
I just wanted to tell you thanks for this amazing video! Needed this from start to finish 🙌 Tired of false hair and not being able to trust hair stylist. God bless your beautiful heart in showing women of color how to care for our hair ❤️ Going to try your products and share with everyone I know. Blessings to you 💜
Your hair is absolutely beautiful… that seems like so much work it was exhausting to watch all the steps you have to take to have healthy pretty hair!!
Great routine. Only thing about this video is the amount of shampoo and conditioner left on the scalp, double cleansing becomes redundant if we don’t rinse thoroughly. Definitely rushed through the rinsing process on this one, still lovely content and lovely outcome.
I have some anxiety around wash day, but watching this video is very helpful and brings make confidence in my hair regimen. I love love the detailed steps. Gonna give this a try, thanks!
I just took my hair out after have single braids in for 3-4 months...i know i keep my hair in wayyy too long, i work a lot and don't have time to be taking my hair out as often as id like. That being said my shed hair is also a lot, I watched so many videos on how to promote hair retention and how to properly detangle my hair because all these videos show I've been watching show significantly less shed hair than i was losing. This video changed the perspective for me. I do need to take better care of my hair but my shed hair amount was not unusual
Yessss for the scripture! Your tips are awesome as well. I particularly love the tips to clip your nails and stretch your hair. My hair is down my back (thanks to stretched styles) but my nails tend to catch on my hair. I normally just break my nail off when it does, but it makes so much more sense just to cut it beforehand. 😅🤦🏾♀️ Thanks, Janet!
Ngl, this is definitely true. Years ago when I used to perm my hair, I would notice my hair would be growing vs now ( I’ve been over 5+ years natural ). That’s because my hair was always stretched aka straight.
Totally amazing. Thanks for posting. I'll have to go back to nightly hair care. Because come to think of it, looking back at my childhood I had less breakage when my mom plaited my hair up every night before bed. So night time twists it is for me now.
Hi Janet beautiful hair length beautiful hair I love it mines is the middle of my back a little bit longer than the middle I’m trying to get to waist length can you do a video on how you make your Rice Water please and thank you
I agree with everything you say and your hair is GORGEOUS!! I normally use Aussie Moist conditioner for detangling because I love the slip, and deep conditioning is definitely my fav part of my hair routine!!🥰
My hair use to be really thick and long like yours but over the years abuse and neglect have caused it to fall out and thin. 😢 I'm literally spending 1000s of dollars trying to reverse the damage
Instead of filing my nails...I put on gloves. My nails don't snag at the tips and sides...it catches and snags where the cuticles and nailbeds are. I wear acrylic and the new growth is where there are issues with snagging. Plus just used to the gloves.
@@ellie5373 I don't use a towel...I let my hair drip dry. Here's a video of me using gloves: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZO8eaJFqhyU.html
Ultimately its ab giving your hair the UTMOST TLC. Find what works for you, deep condition and make sure your hair is pampered. I neglect my hair alot and i think thats why it grows but not as fast as it should. Mine gets very dry. I think the common habit we curly-afro girls must have is to keep our strands hydrated and actually show love to it. Also, ive noticed many of the shelf products may not help our hair as much as we think they do. Its actually those mother earth recipes from like Africa, India, and Asia that keeps our hair super happy. Eat your protein, drink your water and exercise along with your hair tlc and you will so gorgeous results
When I was a little girl ( natural from birth until 15 years old) my mother used to wash, condition and put in either one, two or four braids. My hair was uncut ( only bangs) until 12 years old when I got my first trim. . . I was DEVASTATED to find the hair stylist cut about 5 to 6 inches when my mother wasn't looking and I was wiping soap from my eyes at the time. After that I was terrified to have anyone touch my hair. I only received "trims" after that upsetting event. I relaxed it about once a year and kept it one long French braid throughout much of junior high & high school. In 2007 I relaxed it on a very long, very trying day (BIG mistake) and dozed off for 20 minutes watching the news. It was damaged, I lost 2 inches to chemical damage and swore off chemicals. I began using deep conditioners more often and rarely pinned or clasped it tightly. Now (light-years later) it's curly...really curly but I would like it to be (that is I would like the curls) longer after it's dry. My curls are so much tighter underneath. They are two different sizes. Tighter in the front, looser on the sides. They seem different depending on the types of products I use from day to day. P L E A S E,. I will take any and all advice you have to give. Thank you.
I think we all need to factor in that you don’t have 4c hair so already have an advantage growth-wise. Your techniques are still fab and I’ll try them, but let’s be realistic, ladies.
Unfortunately natural hair care products or items cost money that I don't have lol. I would love for my hair to be longer, more stretched but I guess its going to have to wait until I can afford what I need, I just use what I have which is a raggedy normal dryer, shampoo and oil that I can afford.
Work with what you have. Some inexpensive brands that may be good for your hair is mielle organics rosemary mint line, aussie miracle moisture shampoo and conditioner (has great slipage), herbal essence hello hydration line, As I Am the regular collection line, eden bodywork mint shampoo for clarifying poo alikay naturals hair oil....hope some of these suggestions help.
First, let me say that I love your channel and I have gained a lot of knowledge regarding haircare. Watching this particular video keeps me grounded and reminds me why I do not want very long hair. I want to be free. To have hair that long and have to wear protective styles just to keep it, is not worth it to me. I texlax my hair to loosen my natural curls and my hair looks great. I also flat iron it (following your advice on keeping hair stretched) on low heat. The results have been amazing. I initially had some breakage but that is because I didn't use the heat protectors and I didn't know how to flat iron. I do now and my hair is flourishing. Again, a lot of it is thanks to you.
Coming from a professional stylist, your routine is great. Your experiencing the shedding and tangles because it's time for a trim. Implement a trim every 6 weeks and that will help with that tangling💛
I have been following everyone's advice and procedures everything but the hair streing and as I text my skull hair is drenched in castor oil I wont wash out my school hair is thick and grew an inch the thicknesses is growing souch I smile to myself as I am so happy with the reults zi can weary own hair out next month thanx ❤ for all the tips plus videos and im getting a lot of compiments amen
8:27 I never thought about stretching out my hair for growth, I like the way my hair looks in wash and go but I couldn’t figure out why my hair wasn’t growing I am going to start stretching my hair makes a lot of sense
WHEN I USED TO LIVE IN A FOREIGN STATES, I USE TO WASH MY HAIR EVERY MORNING WITH HEAD & SHOULDER, USED TO GROWN I DID NOT REALIZES IT THAT WASHING OUR HAIR MAKE IT GROWN THANKS A LOT.
Yes sis. this routine is everything. The products, the techniques. I actually end up wanting to wash my hair more than usual now...I resist though because of the manipulation but that's just how much I love the products
Hey big sis! How’s it going? Thanks for the love, hahaaa I can imagine 🥰. I think trimming is great as it helps protect your ends but ofc overdoing it is a thing. I try to trim 1-2x a year, I go by how my hair feels, if it’s becoming more tangled than usual then I know I’m due for a trim. After a trim my hair becomes so much easier to detangle! Hope that makes sense 😅💕💕
@@janetidavies yes it does! Thx. I’ve been debating a trim but I’m not sure I actually need it so may just wait. Last time was November! Plus a little dusting after
@@janetidavies wow thank you so so much for the video and replying, so happy I found you! I will try to grow my natural hair again. @janetdavies I loved the video! But as someone into nails, please don't file in a back and forth, sawing motion, that can cause damage. File in toward the center on each half of the nail.
I love & identify with you & your hair!! Thanks for showing all hair loss! I have big problems w/ hair loss, tangles & breakage. I have had to cut off 5" tangles when all I want is the long hair of my childhood! You are inspiring me to try harder & be more patient when detangling. #revair dreams!
Hi Janet, thanks for the hair washing and straightening prep video. I'm a natural girl...so I'm always looking for ways to care for my hair...I'm also on a hair growth journey...it's great to know when there are others going through the same process..keep the videos coming please.
I started adding fenugreek and clove tea to my routine and my hair began getting soo full!! Length was never a problem for me. Fullness was. I try not to add heat to my hair so much, but I am sick of them braids!! I want a new style 😩
This looks like my routine, I always wash twice, and go under the heat for 20 minutes with, the tea mixture and olive oil and a leave in conditioner. It's so soft afterwards. I Love her hair. This dryer looks different.. hmm 🤔 ( me texting while the video is going ) I use heat protection oil and liv conditioner to blow dry my hair and it comes out straight, But I used a brush blow dryer, I might want a try this blow dryer it seems faster. 🤔 My hair is only a little past my bra strap back length ( well I don't know I haven't straightened it in about 2 to 3 years.
@@Keldria I use it as a rinse with clove tea and olive oil and my Doo Grow conditioner treatment. Then I put on a plasticbag, andI put on a heating cap that plugs into the wall for 20 minutes. ( I don't use the Doo grow shampoo and conditioner it has too much alcohol in it, but the grease and leave in conditioner works wonders)
Whoa, that was a huge amount of conditioner and creams! I think you'd be just fine applying much less. And I understand the need to snip off a knot every now and then, but reaching for the scissors often shouldn't be necessary. Nail snagging can definitely be a problem so it's good that you addressed that. Very good results👍🏼👍🏼
I use to blow-dry my hair before and some days I would go crazy and leave it out I think that is a big mistake I think you need to keep it in twists for sure. Don't let it down lol
Janet dearest, I miss you . it has been months since we connect. You have lost weight. you look great and you just have a baby. Your hair is in great shape. God bless. love you little sister
I think Im convinced. I NEED to do this challenge with you. My hair is not behaving as itself. It's shedding n thinning n really dry. So, subbing now. BTW, thanks for sharing! Your Glory is BEAUTIFUL ❤️
Also if you want, try using rosemary oil. Rosemary has inflammation and anti -bacterial properties that may be preventing the growth. So use that. Make sure if you do, use a carrier oil like coconut oil or argan oil.
Thank you so much for explaining about shedding of hair when washing and combing out. I used to get told off / punished as a child when my comb was full of shed hair. 50 years later I’m learning it was because it was in plaits for an entire week and not because - as my mother told me - that I was combing it too hard🙄 It makes so much sense what you say. We all know how white ppl/straight hair floats about everywhere and gets into everything🤢😂

Hello! Long hair is in your genes. It's hereditary for you. You probably was born with a lot of hair as a child. You probably had long hair throughout your entire childhood. Though, I thank you for your hair tips. It's possible to grow long hair if it's not hereditary. Easily said by a licensed Cosmetologist "herself." Lil' sis your hair is beautiful and healthy! This comment is coming from a place of love! 😊🥰☺️😚🤗
Anyone can grow long hair. Your genes determine your texture, density, the speed at which hair grows and the amount of time your hair stays in any growing rate. Not the length. Her hair probably stays in the growing stage longer but she helps it given her regimen which limits breakage. I say this as someone with nearly waist length 4b hair. My hair is longer than anyone else in my family on both sides from parents to cousins to aunts to grandparents.
Your genes determine how fast, simply that 💀 This rethoric just make black women think they can't grow their hair, and that's a lie. All races can grow long hair, we are the only ones who are doing it wrong
One thing that we all have to know is this , not everyone's hair will be like her own, hair, everyone's hair is different, because our bodies are all different, but you will definitely we get our beautiful hair, but it won't be like her hair
If you have products that work for you/have slip I would just stick with those though. It's really all about the actual technique. Most of length retention is lost due to breakage from delangling I've notices. More so if you have fine 4c hair like me.
I'm late, but starting this challenge. I just received my RevAir last month (two days after Valentine's day). Your hair is beautiful 😍 (healthy, thick and long). Thanks for sharing your tips and video. 💯❤️
Sis you should've worn different color shorts. Lol I still couldn't the length. But LENGTH is on 10. You inspire me to not be lazy and wash my hair more. Cause I think the reason I have a lot of breakage is probably due to product build as well.
Thanks for the love! Ikrr I didn’t plan on doing a length check until after getting dressed! I will have to do it again soon haha. Hope you find a solution to your hair concerns, hopefully this video helped 💕
You have absolutely gorgeous hair and I think many people with African origin will envy you ardently.😎 You have great lengths and to put outcoming hair on the wall is a great trick, saving many plumber costs. Just two things how you make those videos: That whiplash noise, when you want to usher a kind of break - so annoying. I always freeze and expect a blow while hearing it. Then the rapid motion mode when you do treat your hair with the comb or detangling it. Many people do this the wrong way, too fast, too rough, too brute. And this rapid motion mode in your movements do insinuate exactly this even though I know you surely do not treat your hair like this. It would be better to show a phase, where your movements, their real speed and character are good to be seen, before going into the rapid motion mode to make the video last not too long. But that constantly rapid motion in combination with the really loud whiplash noise is not exactly relaxing. I hope you don't mind my words, because concerning the tips and hints your video is really helpful. With kind regards Fornarina
