I can confirm that this is LEGIT. I had this problem for quite awhile and tried everything. Cleaning it was a must do. But it's amazing how much just a little bit of dust in those tiny whole can mess it up. Soon as I vacuumed them out it was a world of difference. Haven't had another crash yet. Glad someone with some credit is getting this out there to ppl who need it. Use an small handheld electronic vacuum and if u had to do what I did and tape a straw to the end . Just be careful of over working ur vacuum, it doesn't like it lol
Something I would never do...Plug in a console directly into the wall outlet knowing that a thunderstorm or power surge can fry it. Plenty of good outlets like the APC brand for example protect your devices from power fluctuations.
@@thefury4424 it actually happened to this kid i was best friends with in high school his phone and everything got fried it was actually insane. however i agree with you that it's probably an urban myth that it's caused by the lightning. i feel like it probably has more to do with transformers blowing out than the actual lightning. i would imagine these days if your house has underground wires you're fine
Happened to me in 2008. Windstorm and lightning fried everything in my house even the toaster. My original Xbox died that day. My Xbox 360 got sent to Microsoft and they were able to fix it and ship it back. I had to re buy everything. The good thing that came out of it was it lead to my 1st HDTV. A 62” Mitsubishi RP LCD HDTV. Loved that TV. I still have it today but it needs repair to the power supply. I can’t throw it away + it’s huge. Lol

@@Krypterium I have a series s but I rather play Xbox games on pc plus how else am I supposed to play PlayStation Games not all of them are on pc so a PlayStation is still required in my setup
@@Krypterium what’s the point in buying an xbox if you have a PC to play the xbox games, I know there’s certain games that is not supported but oh well. My XSX does the same thing that a PS5 does, no differences, there are XSX that have faulty power cords or faulty power banks. Also, I’m both a fan of the Xbox and PS
Happened to me a few times when playing Jedi survivor. Opened it up and there was some dust clogged up down in the power supply, cleaned the fan too for good measure and hasn’t happened since
When I play jedi survivor it crashed on me in the 1st section of the game and then I end up getting multiple crashes when I found an Exploit in the game and I figured it was a bug not the PS5 being dusty.
For me, it’s better to put the P5S in horizontal position. Because dust mostly fall down to the unit and if the unit is standing vertical, the vents at the top will catch those dust. Though it will still get dust if place horizontally. But at least it will not go directly to the cooling fan & power supply. 😊

Yea I lay mine down, instead of standing up. Plus (dnt judge me guys) but when I'm done playing mines,I unplug everything and wrap my ps5 in one of my small thick blankets an put it away. Yea,I did this with my ps4 for years...never had any issues/not much dust in it either. That's just how I do it guys. These machines are expensive an I try take care of my man toys. Plus I got a 5yr old as well lol. So I dnt leave anything out.
I had this issue PS5 games wouldn’t play longer than 50min and ps5 felt really hot and wouldn’t turn on until I unplugged the cable and plugged back in, I cleaned the fan multiple times issue persisted, rebuilded data base and issue was still on going, if you’re experiencing this issue and your ps5 is out of warranty I’d suggest to do a full system clean up by following Stage 3 Clean Up of TronicsFix ps5 video very carefully (its not that complicated tbh), most likely the heat sinks and power supply are in need of a urgent clean up, since I fully cleaned it my ps5 has not randomly turned off and I’ve tested it out by playing GOW Ragnarok with max settings for over 3h with no issues
I always put a dust cover on my PS5 when I am not playing on it. They fit exactly over the console and keep any dust out. I bought mine on Amazon. I also have one for my series x. And no my home isn’t dusty I just prefer to look after my expensive items.
This problem never happened with my ps4 pro. In fact I haven’t experienced a single problem or crash with my ps4 pro and I’ve had it since 2018. Simply put, poor design. That’s why I will be waiting for the ps5 pro.
As a spark, I can tell you that all sockets are the same unless physically damaged. We've all seen the liquid metal video by now, there should be no one with a stood up PS5 in 2023. Good vid. 👍
Yeah left my system in rest mode. Unknowingly. Came home to play and it shut down and took like 20 minutes to work again. 5 days after buying it "new". I figured rest mode just caused an overheating issue. Ty for basically affirming that.
I only had mines 4 months not that much dust inside mines horizontal on stand and just recently cleaned when I upgraded ssd to venom 8 kit 2tb runs sweet but always good to know keep up the good content ❤
Had this issue but that's because i had my PS5 horizontal and then went back to vertical and still had issues with it turning off. I decided to send it in and they fixed it because there was some faulty stuff but they managed to fixed it and haven't had any problems since then

@@Krypterium trash comment. I've owned every single PlayStation console and I've yet to have one give up on me. Let's also not forget that X Box made the light of death famous 🤷🤣
My issue was a bunch of dirt and dog hair on the power supply and radiator, I bought the screw set off Amazon for $20 and looked at ifixits RU-vid tutorial on how to clean and have been good since 💪🏽 honestly that’s the only way every other thing didn’t help I already tried lol you just have to open it up really clean it , especially if you live in a dusty area like Az and so on
If this don’t work clean the fan by taking the cover off and leave HDMI Device Link ON and Touch Play ON but Turn OFF Enable Power OFF Link this worked for me because when I turned HDMI Device Link OFF it kept going on rest mode !
So much "coulds"... Isn't there a specific way to fix this? I clean mine in a monthly basis and I literally have it vertically in a well ventilated zone. I can't seem to fix it
@@theportugueselegend No Problem Mate... Unfortunatelly Sony is Kinda Clown and now we have to deal with those problems... Was kinda scared seeing my ps5 dying in front of my eyes while playing
@@theportugueselegend and this was the "minor problem" , i've spent over 260€ worth of Dualsense just for the fucking drift, the assistance is like 0, they sent me the repaired controllers with drift and they said it was probably my fault or the courier and they couldn't do nothing about that
I have cats so vertical is just looking for problems, i tend to do a deep clean on my ps5 3-4 months. Dont have it in unventilated spaces and u should be good to go.
Some games have been turning my ps5 off. I played Elden Ring ps5 for 135 hrs and mot once did my ls5 turn off or crash. But when I play Wild Hearts and Star Wars Jedi Survivor the console turns off sometimes after an hour or two. When I press the ps button on the controller to turn the ps5 on, it won't go on. I have to unplug the lead and reinsert it for the ps5 to turn o again.. I checked the error code I get but the sony page and shag all information on the error. It just says update the system software. The error say "an error happened in the system software. It makes no sense.
Had this issue come up randomly weeks ago for first time but not cause of overheat it was cause of code ce-108262-9. It would come up instantly aa main ps5 menu would pop up. Even did a full cleanup thinking the power supply's heatsink was dirty or clogged but really was not and the ps5 was not as dirty as I imagined it would be. Still only solution that did fix my problem was a factory reset from the safe mode menu. Hopefully this helps anyone having this issue that looks similar to the one in this video.

Not sure why but anyone else have problems with HBO MAX and PS5? The app crashes or takes forever to start a show/movie. I’ve made so many reports also uninstall it and reinstall and same problems. Just wondering if you could help. Thanks
Usually these mousepads aren't exactly made by Sony but rather by a third-party (maybe link or affiliated with them). But yes... They are specifically designed to the ps5's design and theme. Or at least I think so.
Without taking the system completely apart there’s a small opening that after you take the sides off you can gently use a Q-tip and clean that area it will clear up those vents just fine without taking your entire system apart I had this issue and cleared that vent space and have had no issues since this was 3 months ago and I’ve been cautious checking my vents and fan frequently since
Bro, you’re kidding me. I ordered a T9 security bit to take the fan apart today. I read your comment and go look, and no shit, there is a triangle hole that gives you direct access to the vents. I just started up Star Wars, we will see in 30 minutes. Thank you!!!!
@@cyb3rh4nd it’s a triangle shaped opening about the side of a quarter. Use a flashlight and you will see the clogged vent with circular holes. I got like a pound of dust of with a q tip.
The ps5 design is dog 💩, the amount of broken ps5 out in the wild and people like me still having consistant random errors and shutdowns after over 2 years in the market, is very surprising how the gaming bias media hasn't really dug into this. The amount of comments on yt videos about faults, overheating and errors with the ps5 is almost at class action lawsuit levels.
I’m dealing with this. I already took it apart and cleaned the vents, I’ve checked the power cord, I can’t find anything. I’m so confused😞 Is my baby broken?
I’ve had my ps5 since day of launch from Walmart. And it has been standing upwards for 3+ years bro.. clean it about 3 times a year and have never experienced this yet , maybe you just got a defective ps5 .
Shuts off while playing Diablo 4. No it’s not dust or the goddamn fan I cleaned those, it’s not hot because there is a god damn fan on it. It’s Diablo 4 (game is up to date) it doesn’t turn off unless I’m playing this game but everyone wants to say it’s not
My ps5 just turned off, I hardly play it, like I literally have played it for at least 10 hours in total over the past 5 months and it just randomly turned off, back to the xbsx I go
I refuse to take the plates off my system. I don't trust myself. My PS5 also makes some weird noises starting up from rest mode occasionally. Well, if it puts itself in rest mode.
My ps5 keeps crashing when I try turn it on smh it always does the system rebuild and then it's fine I've had it repaired 3 times it's the first model that ever came out it's so. Frustrating they need to hurry up and release the pro
There is a dust port on the side when you take off the plates you’ll see a very small hole, you can use a small tooth brush and scrape off the dust inside the port and then use a vacuum to suck it up , happened to me a year ago then after the clean up it was basically running better than before and haven’t had issues with it since then try it out today
@@Kolgarth I mean, it still is true that vacuums generate static electricity. But I believe sony says that assuming people will put the vacuum against the plastic casing and not inside where it could touch vital components!
PS4 games keep causing my PS5 to shut off. Why is that? Sometimes the whole console will just shut off too as it starts up. I have no idea what to do and I've been trying to fix it forever. I also have not found a fix for this specific issue.
I clean it and use air compressor to blow all the dust. And never ever put it standing up. Big mistake. I always have mine laying down. Never have any problems since launch date.
The only issue I've been having is the screen randomly glitching out (going black for a few secs), it only does it randomly and not all games or services do it
That happened to me too... it was the HDMI-ARC problem with my Samsung TV (some incompatibility, dont know for sure). the problem solved whem I disable HDMI link on the console and TV.
This only happens with mine in newer titles with baked-in HDR settings. Seems to be the ARC switching the signal for HDR to sync with the TVs settings (LG 4k)
This been happening to me since i bought a new M2. SSD & then i just finished beating God of War Ragnarok 6 months ago. & Now i took off both side plates & air dust it off. But I didn't want to take off the fan so now it works normally for me.
So basically people put your PS5 in well ventilated quarantine space. I’ve never had this problem. My ps5 is horizontal too and it’s been like that for a year and I’ve never had a problem. I did the very last few steps for my ps5 a long time ago and it works just fine.
I've had to clean it twice in 2yrs from cutting off using a long toothbrush cleaning the dust silver vents....but this last time the power area was very hot, I removed the plates and it hasn't cut off since.
Mine did that 4 times the 5th time she went off completely and won’t turn on and I just got and it didn’t even been a month so Sony took it for 3 weeks now and they said it we’ll take month and I actually went to sue the Sony company in my country and they said the company have 1 more week so yeah I love PlayStation 💀🤡
Hello, I am writing this message to find out if someone has this problem with their ps5, the console works correctly but none of the us ports work, I am on the first startup screen being able to do anything and I would like to know if someone can help me please!
My launch day PS5 started doing this about 5 months ago, now it’s doing it with PS4 games too. I’m gonna give it a good cleaning instead of sending it to PlayStation for repairs.
When my ps5 randomly shuts off in horizontal state and never gets moved but regularly cleaned, then the issue lies within the liquid metal. Hotspots through oxidized liquid metal can cause this issues too. In the worst case you have to reinstall the systemfiles again after solving the random shutoffproblems. Tronicsfix has a solution for that, if you want to solve the problem yourself. Be sure to keep track of the screws, the ps5 has many different screws, unlike the ps4 system ...

@@Krypterium why should i get xboxes, when i cannot play the games that i really enjoy on the playstation? I dont care, if the xbox x is "stronger" or " nicer". Stop trying to force people to buy something, what they dont want, its wrong.
I have done everthing mentioned here except taking the PS5 a part and cleaning it, but it still shutsdown by itself playing Gran Turismo 7 only but playing GT Sport it never had a issue with the PS5 shutting down by itself. I don't think it a dust problem with the PS5, because on my PS5 I can play GT7 for over 5 hours of play have not have an issue shutting down, and the next day the PS5 shutsdown when playing GT7 after 1 minute of playing that game, and the PS5 is still cold at the time of the shutdown. If my PS5 had dust I don't think my PS5 will play for five hours strigh with no issues, and sometimes my PS5 shutsdown after 1 minute of plying GT7 while the console is cold.
This happened to me like 3 times I cleaned dust on fan and near power supply with a brush I saw it had dust but know everything it's fine I usually clean my ps5 every 2-3 months
