Thanks for the suggestion to tilt the camera up for the last frame of the focus stack to minimize wide angle distortion. Years ago I purchased a 24mm tilt-shift lens. It doesn’t go into the pack very often, but when it does I’m so glad I have that option. This video reminds me I have that option and could employ it more often than I have.

Beautiful stuff Mads, and great tip around tilting the camera up for the last shot of a focus stack series. Thanks a million

Hi Mads, great video of the wild garlic. My favourite photograph was the canopy overhead, that was special one for me. My own camera has quite limited dynamic range so woodland photography is always a bit of a challenge, so I often need to exposure bracket. I usually do this manually using a cable release so that I get the exposure range that I want and not disturb the camera. Sometimes the wind makes this impossible, so I go off and photograph something else and keep a note to come back to the location and try again. Keeps me fit.

I know you're a professional photographer and perhaps don't like the idea of sharing your raw files around, but I would love to see how other photographers would have done editing and post-processing on your second composition with the tree trunks. Maybe a roundtable discussion. Your edit is good, and very much your style, but I feel like it would have worked wonderfully in a more dark toned, muted way as well. Just an idea. Either way, solid video!

Great video Mads, we have had some great wil garlic fields her in the Amsterdam forest. So nice to see how you make your compositions. I sometimes also like to use my 70-200 and focus stack creating more curve in the forest paths and to optimize any slight fog. Cheers, Thijs

Did you have any problems with carry on backpacks going to iceland carring your gear? and what backpack did you use, capacity(lit)? the acelandair company, the max size of carry on is...55 x 40 x 20 cm, how was your experience with it? because i'm from Portugal i probably will have to take a 2 flights to get there. keep the good work. I don't have PS or LR either (use DXO Photo Lab). I've used Helicon Focus for years and love it. It's designed to be a plug-in for LR but it works as a stand-alone just fine. It's also a company based in Ukraine if you're interested in giving them a boost. Of course, all the images you use for a focus stack have to be sharp to begin with in terms of no movement from wind or the camera. That can make photostacking try your patience but it's worth it!
