Do This When Your Fire Stick Remote Is Not Working

Thank you for pointing out that it could be the chemicals that leaked out of the batteries, I didn't think that this was the issue for mine but when I checked, it surely was.

I didn't think there was much battery acid on the current to affect the remote but I took your advice, used a screwdriver, scraped and cleaned it and VOILA it worked! Thank you!

No other video on this mentioned corrosion. Lo & behold - by flashlight I found corrosion - scraped off, wiped w/alcohol q-tip and blew out w/canned air. Put in FRESH out of the pack batteries, not ones I THOUGHT were fresh - and IT WORKS! YAY YOU!

1 more hack.... Power and volume button was not working, support told me to reset the remote... To reset remote, power off the complete TV and firestick. Remove battery from remote, then press BACK button and RIGHT NEVIGATION key together for 40 seconds.... This will reset remote control.. This resolved the issue... 🙏

Hope this helps .. So I've been able to solve problems in the past via resetting, etc. This time, no joy. What I found Worked was to download the remote app just to use the 3 line = BUTTON to delete connected remote through systems connected remotes, then add it as a new remote. Also, if you have a spare fire remote, that should pair too using this process.

New Fire tick 2021 Plus installed yesterday on 1-Oct-2022.When we give voice command "Alexa play Sony Sab TV", it plays Sony Sab TV -OK. But, when we say "alexa play Zee BUsiness", its says "could not find Zee Business"When we say "alexa play Colors Marathi", its says "could not find Colors Marathi"So voice recognition is there but the TV does not play the channel.Factory Reset also done. All new updates done. Tried re-setting remote holding 3 buttons - did not work.Still problem not solved. Any solution ??

HELP!! I bought a new amazon firestick JUST so I could have a 2nd remote in the living room. I successfully paired the 2nd remote to my firestick that we have already had for a couple years. It worked for a while then I started to get the “low battery “warning. This is a NEW remote. I didn’t even use the amazon batteries, I used new energizer ones. I have tried all the tricks unplugging the fire stick, resetting my remote, holding down the home button, holding down the “three” buttons down together. Restated my fire stick, seriously these are just comical things that they are trying to get us to do. Can anyone help???

Your first tip worked. I tried a few batteries and it didn't work then then I started looking at the connectors and wiping them a bit and making sure the batteries were pressing on them and that fixed it.

I have an LG tv my problem is that I only have one cdmi point, in that port I have a sky Q plug in. now when I remove that the tv goes OFF and will not start until I put back the sky connecter. my question is will a cdmi splitter work okay......cheers

My remotes always gave me hassle. They are complete junk. Used my phone for years. Now factory reset the fire tv and it will only seek a remote and phone doesn’t work. Amazon said it’s no longer supported and obsolete. Throw it in the garbage. Good job amazon!

I had this problem and the firestick worked on my TV but when I got a new TV the remote wouldn't work! My TV picture in not seen after I turn it on. It turns on ith the remote, and then after I see the usual lights come on, I dont see a picture. Can my firestick have gone bad? I literally just baught the mediabox neo stick and got the batteries with the stick,i can't go from one letter to the other. I did put the Wi-Fi with the remote, then I had to do the email address, but when I had to put the password it didn't want to move nowhere. I even wanted to change the email address.

I’ve had that smart phone app since 2018 lol an had to use for a year or so with one of my old fire sticks then early 2020 I got a new one an the remote worked obviously then about 2 months ago the remote started acting shady and over that month it got worse to where I can’t even use it anymore and back to using the app.. Amazon make your damn remotes better bc my remote not even 2 years old before it stopped working properly

Nothing has worked so far. On /off doesn’t work. It’s a new fire stick and it worked for 2-3 days then quit . No one dropped it and the batteries were fresh out if a newly purchased pack id batteries . We’ve unplugged, changed the batteries, redone everything and rebooted the whole system several times. We are at our wits end . Maybe we will return it to Amazon. We hoped you’d have the magic solution but we must have a faulty set. Thank you
