Do We Really Believe the Bible if We Do This?

So much of this!! Yes! 🔥🔥 As I was listening to your story about your grandfather, I could hear the Lord say that even though YOU think it was the wrong thing to pray, He heard your heart. He knew EXACTLY what you meant and I feel that in saying that prayer, it opened the door for the Lord to encounter him one last time. It is His will that none shall perish and I believe that that last desperate prayer, was the open door for Him to do what only He can do. Thank you so much for these videos, Faith. I am always impressed with your videos Faith. For a young adult, you display a solid Biblical and spiritual maturity that blesses me and many many others I’m sure. God is using you mightily!

This brought me to tears! I was just struggling in my Bible study this morning because I felt like I just missed the point of what I was reading. The reason for that was I was not thinking through the lense of the gospel. All of it is His finished work. All that is good in my life is because of Jesus. Anything I do for Him or to love Him is because of Him. Thank you again for the reminder of the gospel.

Listening to your story about your grandfather reminded me of my dad. The day he went into the hospital for the final time, all I saw when I walked into his ER room was fear on his face. I don't think we knew yet that his brain was hemorrhaging. I remember the last two things he said before he went unconscious. First, he told me he loved me, which, at the age of 23, was the only time I remember him saying it. Then our pastor came in. He stepped up right beside Daddy and asked him if he knew he was saved and going to heaven. With tears in his eyes, he said yes. He didn't look scared any more. A few minutes later, he closed his eyes. He was admitted and put in a room where we could all see him as much as we wanted. A few days later, his younger brother came in and told him that he had accepted Jesus. Within hours, Daddy was gone. It was like he was waiting to know that he'd see Uncle J in heaven some day.

Wow! The Lord's timing is impeccable as always, I was literally just reading about our works and His rest and your video popped up! Our Heavenly Father has blessed you with a great gift of teaching and a beautiful heart 😊 thank you so much for your obedience to Him and for being an inspiration and motivation. I'm a new subscriber to your channel, I found you mostly because I was trying to understand how to bible journal and studying the Bible.. but I always believe God is directing our path and even on RU-vid he sends us what we need when we need it, I was crying 😭 when you talked about your grandfather 💕 my grandfather is in his 80s and has had a tough time with his health. But what I remembered moste of all was my uncle, he was only in his middle 30s when he had his 1st stroke, 💔 he lived through it thank God but in the end about 5years later he had heart surgery and ended up having a heart attack and died 😭but when you mentioned your grandfather it just brought me right back to my uncle in the hospital bed, I try not to remember him like that but it was a important thing I needed to see . I my self was born with a heart defect so I knew exactly what my uncle was dealing with as far as doing what Dr,s tell us to do to get better and so forth.. and I was am a saved Christian I think the only one in my family but I knew praying for him was helpful I just thought the same thing you did, did he really know what the cross ment, I feel that way for my whole family especially the ones who grew up catholic. I just pray that they really understand that being forgiven isn't about the rightuals and special prayers ect,, it's about the cross ✝️ so anyway I understand what you were talking about . I LOVE you, Faith!!! Your videos always make me think so deeply and reflect on my life and my faith as a young Christian woman(especially one who's a relatively new Christian). Thank you for posting this, I'm so glad that I came across this video of yours today.

I was saved for twenty years before I truly understood grace. And what living in grace looks like.

As always your videos are great and raw with personal info and application. Love this very simple concept and truth that many people struggle with. Most true Salvation is given to everyone, not for what we do but for God's love for us. So really what and why we do these things is because we are saved. So, like rather we choose it, or we don't, it was never there for us to work for or really about us. Thanks for the testimony and truth that it isn't about how we aren't saved by our works but by how God loves us and in turn it is going to because love and live for Him because it isn't based on our works. To answer the question in the end I am wholly His and am baffled by the fact that he would even choose me in His grand design and know know know that He loves me and is delighted in my works not because I am saved but because it is for His glory and will. Just wanted to give you an encouragement because to me you are not wrong and in fact so right that the ones that think you are wrong may you be a light in their darkness so they can see God for real. I hope that you pray them as well and I am sure you do. But I love these videos so please don't be discouraged by their stumbling blocks. Thanks again for allowing me into the bible study and community on Pateron and Volly even though I am in the minority it is really edifying and encouraging and a real faith builder, pun not and fully intended. I was similarly distraught when I was around 11 and my uncle passed away. I knew I had faith and I knew he wasn't involved in a church and struggled with alcohol and I was so sad after his death because I really think I might never see him again and there was nothing I could do for him.

You back what you speak with scripture and your heart is pure for the LORD. I have walked with him since 1996. I have dealt with the administration of Saul and had a lot of Spears thrown at me. I wholeheartedly believe it is by Grace we are saved. However, we must live right and try to not sin intentionally. I live like I believe. I used to be a baby Christian, and now I am no longer a baby Christian. I am currently studying the Covenants of God with some of the ladies in church. I always believed once saved always saved, but I do not believe that anymore. I feel like to many people are so lukewarm in their walk that may not realize they are risking their salvation. I want to see my husband in Heaven someday. I am learning so much everyday during my study on Covenant, I feel so free living the way I should. Somedays are not easy, I just pray to get my strength from the Lord.

Amen, our focus should be on God in Christ -- all the good we can possibly do results only from his grace. Even when it comes to saving faith, I'd emphasize that it doesn't look the same in everyone's case. E.g., I've experienced how some Christians doubt the faith/salvation of anyone who can't share a certain kind of biographical "testimony." So I think we should trust that Jesus is present even in circumstances and people we don't expect him to be (Matt 25:31-46), not be consumed with anxiety speculating about the recesses of others' (or our own) souls, and recognize that our prayer even as believers is "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief."

Yep. This is one of the things that drove me out of evangelicalism and into confessional Lutheranism: the "bait-and-switch" of faith and works that often is found. I would hear "You're not saved by works" and then would hear a sermon about works, obedience, keeping the commandments, etc., that would make me start trusting in my own obedience for my justification, even if I paid lip service to the atoning work of Christ. Even in Calvinist churches I have heard things like this. This is why the law-gospel distinction is so important. If you do not properly understand the role of each, you open the door for misunderstanding, and can seriously do damage to faith in the process.

Uhh this hit hard. I lost my Dad when I was 14 and I had kind of the same things I went through with him. But I wasn't saved at that time. On the contrary, I started hating God after my Dad passed away. I was saying ugly stuff to him, I repented already and this pains me still. My Mom married again and that Man that became my stepdad was a jehovas witness. Somehow, even though strange, this was the ticket back to God. My Stepdad died in 2016 of pancreatic cancer and I was caring for him in his last days. He died at home. The thing is, I lately think a lot about both of them and if they are saved. I have only my Mom left, but she is sick also and I cared a lot of years for her, until I broke down. But the one question that is hammering in my head is: Will I see those two Men again.

That wasn't naive (what you felt about your grandfather and wanting to take his place). Isn't that the sentiment Paul expresses in Romans 9:3? He knows it doesn't work that way, but it's his heartache for his lost people. "For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ, for the sake of my people, those of my own race." NIV. This verse hit me hard a while ago as it's my sentiment for some of my kids. And it helps me to know Paul felt it too.

Faith! I think you asking God to go to hell for your grandpa shows exactly what kind of heart you have. Idk if your heart and desperation was enough to save your grandpa but God heard that desperate plea! Also I often say we don't know what happens at that in between time of death. Where to us they seem completely gone, but maybe they are in the spiritual and Jesus comes and talks to them. I have no idea if that's true I'm just saying we have no idea bc noone has ever lived to tell about it.i think once we get to heaven we will be seriously so stunned at some of the people that are there. But I believe I'm saved because I believe Jesus saved me and he is the ONLY reason I'm saved. I'm also so so grateful he called me early and has been refining me that I won't have to go through the tribulation! Praise God!

It didn’t stop at the cross. That was just the beginning. You see….Jesus taught the Apostles on what to do and how to do it and taught that Faith is so vary important. He also taught about Baptism. Baptism of Water and Spirit. And Baptism in the NAME of Jesus. Read the whole chapter of John 3 and not just John 3:16. It is SO important to understand the book of Acts. It’s all there. When Paul was talking to the Church’s in the book of Roman. They were already Baptized in water and and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. We must die to our flesh daily meaning truly Repent because we all do things that offends God daily. I don’t care who you are. Just because Jesus died for our sins it doesn’t mean that when we do things that he does like we have the mindset of “ oh well…He forgave us on the cross so no need to worry.” That is far from the truth. “

I don't think your 15 year old self knew at the time that in the moment you offered to go to hell for your grandfather you were more likeJesus than you realized. You made me cry. Stop it.

Believers get the grace. *_Believers_* -like Abraham (James 2:20-24)- are those who act on their faith and obey God. Otherwise faith is dead. Abraham's "works" was his obedience, acting on his faith. For *_that_* he was justified and deemed a believer . . . "and not by faith only" (James 2:20-24). *_Believing goes beyond faith alone._* Believers are those who obey God. Connecting the dots: Jesus saves believers. Jesus is ■ "the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him" (Hebrews 5:9) What are we commanded to do? ■ "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent" (Acts 17:30) Obey, and we'll receive His promised mercy: ■ "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13) Otherwise we'll perish, as Jesus warned: ■ "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Jesus, in Luke 13:5) Peter makes it clear: come to repentance, or else perish: ■ "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9) If we'll obey and come to God in repentance, we'll have our past sins blotted out. With those past sins (which *separated* us from God, Isaiah 59:1,2) erased, we can enter "the *presence* of the Lord": ■ "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19, NKJV, also Romans 3:25 and 2 Peter 1:9). How do we enter "the presence of the Lord"? By receiving the gift of the holy spirit. Who gets the holy spirit? (Acts 5:32) ■ "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38) While we abide in Jesus in repentance, following the holy spirit, we are in *justiifcation* with God -not under condemnation: ■ "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1) While we abide in Jesus in repentance, following the holy spirit, we remain "in His goodness" or grace (Romans 11:22). Jesus advocates for us with the Father (1 John 2:1) and covers -present tense- new sins by His blood (1 John 1:7). Jesus is the potter, we are the clay. By the holy spirit Jesus leads us out of slavery to sin, preparing us for eternal life as the Father's sons and daughters. But this cannot happen unless we abide in Him and remain workable: in repentance (Romans 8:13,14). Jesus says ■ "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent." (Jesus, in Revelation 3:19) While we abide in Jesus in repentance, following the holy spirit, we have "the hope of salvation": the promised gift of eternal life, to be received "at the last day" (John 6:39): at Jesus' "revelation" -His return: ■ "But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ" (Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 5:8,9). ■ "And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life" (1 John 2:25). ■ "Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;" (1 Peter 1:13; also 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17) Can we fall away from justification, and forfeit that hope of salvation? Yes, and we have many warnings not to let that happen: ■ "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned."
