What I don't get is why do people think that the church is something good?? Like if you look at the world history religons were always responsible for suffering and dying like during the crusades and wars between countrys or even inside a country between catholics and protestants. And in the middle ages or even today the church takes all your money is more wealthy then most countries and doesnt give anything back. But when the Notre Dame burns they cry mimimi and raise billions but dont fucking care about the people that are much more important then a church lol. And even today the pope says that you shouldn't use condoms so the poor people in Africa that are completely uneducated and only listen to what "their holy man" aka the pope says get a lot of children (sure they need it to ensure their existence but not 10 children) and booom overpopulation. He's against marriage for gay people and by telling his opinion in the media he influences so many people. In the end religion blocks our society from moving forward and be nice to each other. But it ain't only the catholic church that is like that if you look at Iran where government and church are together that's so fucked up. Everybody can think what they want and believe in what they want as long as they won't influence or disturb others with it but in my opinion the church's doing this exact thing. And until it's proven that a god exists I will believe in the religion of science that's based on facts and not on nonsense

To be honest, I would be hesitant too. Most of my family is evangelical, and I know they would be hurt to find out I don't believe in god. In my country's culture being a christian is the "default", to call it a way. Thankfully we live in a different country now, where I'm able to believe what I want without feeling the pressure of having to act like someone I'm not (going to church all the time, praying... I don't have to do all that here)

I believe in the existence of a higher power called God but do not believe in any particular religion (nobody knows how much is made up for selfish purposes and how much is true). The reason for my belief is somewhat based on science. Fact: we exist in this world. Science: something cannot come out of nothing. As a Christian I really respect people who look at a religious individual and are able to respect them even though it might sound ridiculous from their side. While I am Christian and I don’t agree with atheists, it annoys me SO much to see someone saying stuff like “people who don’t believe in God will go to hell” or “you should Christian, Muslim, etc.” Like leave it alone they have their beliefs and we have ours.

@Rininta there’s a saying a lot of Muslims use: are you so confident that you did good in this life that you’re ready to die right now? (as in do your good deeds outweigh your bad deeds at this moment) and all of a sudden we all start thinking about the small and big moments of sin (swearing, lying, talking back to parents, etc.) and none of your good actions come to mind so you panic and work actively to be a better person and right your wrongs until you settle in false security again. Just imagine you reminding yourself this every morning and working the whole day to be as good of a person as possible and looking back at everything that night? At the end of our lives, hopefully all those good deeds had piled on nice and high, even if you can’t quite remember them all. And I always find the fact that we can’t always recall our good as much as our bad as slightly funny.

But that won't happen, we'll always be questioning, "did I do good, did I do enough?". Hence, we can only hope we have enough good deeds.

That's how my parents raised us. They took us to church in our earlier childhoods but they never forced it onto us. They allowed us to do as we liked as long as it wasn't breaking any rules. As a result of their parenting, 2/4 of us kids are christian.

Many ppl have a lot of questions about life and death and all these things and many religions answer those unanswered questions.. For me my Christian God is the missing peace of the puzzle and with him everything is complete.. Believing doesn’t necessarily fix all your problems at all but it provides a foundation and answers and stability and love.

Just want to put it out there that God is not the church, church is the group of people who created this community to worship our God. So if you ever felt judged and hurt by a church know that it is not God making you feel this way but the people in it. God loves everyone and I’m sorry for anyone who went through bad experiences. We have to tell people that as sinners, we are going to hell if we don't give our life to Jesus Christ as He is the way the truth and the life and no one goes to the Father but by Him. That's the highest form of love. We have to tell our brothers and sisters they're not perfect and no one is and that's okay because there's only one perfect person that walked this earth and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. We are not asked to convert people, but to plant seeds and tell them the truth, all in love. We should never water down the Gospel as to "not hurt people's feelings." Jesus was pretty blunt when He was preaching and telling others to flee from their sins. The truth is there are 2 roads; one to hell and one to heaven. To warn people of potential eternal damnation IS love. And spreading the Gospel and leading them to potential eternal salvation is caring for them. It's like finding the cure to cancer. Wouldn't you want to share it with as many people as possible? Same analogy. Be blessed, brother.
