I use something similar as the outer layer for my cakes, makes them look pretty and tastes quite well :), I use almost no sugar, which creates a nice harmony with the sweet cake

For those wondering, Agar Agar is a vegan version of Gelatin. The reason why it is used in this video is because it lends for a silkier, smoother texture, while Gelatin can make it rather jelly-like. I don’t know about you, but Jelly textured chocolate does not sound so good.

This is literally just chocolate jell-o. Agar Agar is harvested from algae, red algae. It is also used as a thickening agent in some toothpastes and even ice cream. It is similar in purpose and function to pectin. Pectin is found in jell-o as well as preserves like jelly and jam. 🧐🤓

1 teaspoon agar powder is equivalent to 8 teaspoon gelatin powder. Of course all recopies need different amounts so if you use agar do a conversion that works .

I made this recipe today. My dad doesn't like sweet stuff and like dark chocolate so I reduced the sugar amount in this recipe by half. It turned out amazing (it's not sweet and you can clearly taste the chocolate and the sweetness lingers in your mouth). However if you prefer to eat it sweet (but not too sweet) I would suggest adding about 2/3 of the amount of sugar and lessen the amount of chocolate by a little bit.

I’m pretty sure the 1k dislikes were from people who doesn’t know what agar agar powder is.

This is literally chocolate pie filling. Although usually recipes call for gelatin, agar agar is a vegan alternative to gelatin that works the same. In fact I can’t wait to use this recipe the next time I make a chocolate cream pie.
