Hi john - just wanted to ask, how do we know if someone has severely weak posas tissues? I’m trying to get relief for many lower back Lx pain patients, and I am trying to work out how best to get them balanced posteriorly and anteriorly at the pelvic girdle to get the pelvic position for them right I love your videos they really make learning a fun and informative thing I sincerely appreciate all of your insights and knowledge. I really hope to do your diploma also.

Quite rare to have a weak posse as you use them all the time when walking as the main hip flexors, regards JG

Would be nice if you could examine me ! But we have good therapists in Toronto as well.. I had no issues before I shattered my femur and had an IM nail and screws put in. This flare up has lasted more than a month. Limping , pain , muscle atrophy in butt and quad on that side . My butt is not firing. Inflammation in my quad and Small hip bursitis. Doing my research because the body is complex ! Hard to strengthen when there is pain and tightness .

Oxford is a long way to travel to see me and yes for sure there are great therapists in Toronto....the problem you have is probably related to the hip joint and the fractured femur as the Gmax has a tendency to switch off if a hip problem is present....maybe watch some more of the videos I have on Gmax / Gluteal inhibition and causes of...good luck, regards JG

Great video! Each time I try to do a wide-legged forward fold I can barely get beyond 90degrees and fold forward before I get a cramp in my outer hip - after research I can't tell if this is related to my psoas or adductors or both.
@JohnGibbons

Thank you for the message and in reality could be many reasons for the restriction - soft tissue issue and from the actual hip joint, see a therapist who can assess you correctly - Regards JG

John your content is extremely well explained. I've just bought some of your books. I have a quick question, in the Thomas test with notable psoas tightness do you ever see the thigh being held in external rotation as well as with poor extension?
@JohnGibbons
@JohnGibbons 4 года назад
Yes it will as the Psoas is an external rotator, regards JG

Hi John! Is it possible for weak adductors to cause a tight psoas? I have experienced extreme tightness even after a laberal tear repair surgery with no relief. Extremely tight glutes as well. I remember feeling a strain sensation to the groin/hip after doing high knees a few years ago and haven’t felt the same since. Thank you! Love your content

Hi John, Can I do a self test? I don't have anyone around to help me do this test! Also I mostly do HIIT training and strength training combined with fast walking. Lately, I started running to compete in a race and my knees are starting to hurt just under the patella and slightly to the inside. I have had problems with my right knee for a long time so I can understand this one being agitated but now my left knee is joining in. Could it be I have just over trained?

What is the meaning of reactive muscle please?
@JohnGibbons
@JohnGibbons 3 года назад
I call the Psoas a 'reactive muscle' as I believe it reacts in response to something - maybe out of its control, so subsequently shortens and becomes tight as a consequence. Regards JG
