Fun fact -- Blueberries and huckleberries are similar in appearance and usage since they're close relatives in the family Ericaceae. Most think they are totally distinct, not knowing they are close relatives. The easiest way to differentiate them is to look at the seeds. blueberry has several very tiny seeds while huckleberry has 10 hard seeds. Genetics is great. God bless!

Hi Mrs. Wanda! I grew a dozen “Garden Huckleberries” from seed (Baker Creek) last year and gave them away. Everyone was happy to receive baby berry bushes they could make jam with. (3 each is always a good number in case one dies…😮) People loved the huckleberry plants! I enjoy growing baby plants! I learned a lot from your videos . 😊

Miss Wanda, I know how very busy you are so thank you for taking time out of your day to show us so painstakingly your berry bushes. Here in Indiana I don't know if they grow as perennials but I did buy some seeds for Baker Creek so we'll see

Wanda I'm a country gal. I grew up in the country and yes the huckleberries you said were huckleberries and I agree. They are definitely huckleberries. The berries are different from any other

Our blueberries are just now blooming. It is normally around the end of June to the first of July before they get ripe. What we call huckleberries in our area only gets about mid shin high and is just a little bigger than a BB.

Wanda where do y’all buy your bulk red clover? I have a wild berry tree behind my fence ( still my property), in wooded area that produces every spring, unsure of what it is so I don’t eat them. Great video thanks!

We save the seeds each year. One reason our yard and fields will look rough for a few weeks. After we harvest the seeds, then we mow.

We have wild blackberries that grow on tall canes. And wild dewberries that grows very close to the ground. Totally different from today's berries

When I was a child we went camping all the time and I really got into what was edible and what wasn't. I can't remember most of it now but I never find wild berries hardly anywhere these days. You are very fortunate to have so many berries on your property. Wild or tame. Do you have any raspberries?
@CrazyDazes

Here you need to be careful as the wild huckleberries are often poisonous. Even the garden huckleberries must be very ripe or they aren't good. They have to be shiny black not dull dark purple or they can still be bad. Pretty much they have to be cooked not just picked an eaten.
